For some reason I'm thinking more something the lines of Forspoken, with it's "quirky" writing and character design mixed in with the setting and story being completely and utterly awful/generic as well as boring action "RPG" slop for gameplay that plays nothing like the games before it, appealing to nobody
[Insert party member]: "Did he just pierced the veil with his freaking mind!?"

"You could say he's causing up a brainstorm"

They decided to once again fuck with how save data is imported. It essentially isn't going to be imported, it's going to be more like the interview at the beginning of Mass Effect 2. The Dragon Age Keep has been deprecated.

Which is incredible, because the Keep was obviously designed with the idea it'd be the tool for any future sequels -- it records all your Inquisition choices with the clear intent they'd be used in the future DA4.

The Keep is already somewhat outdated -- it's been impossible to upload data from Origins for several years -- but now it serves no purpose other than to customize your DAI game. I wonder how long they'll bother keeping it up.

The only way this game could possibly be worse is if they revealed that Anders canonically didn't die in DA2.

Their mask helmets are nice.

Iirc Anders was going to show up in Inquisition as a hermit, depending on whether you let him live or not.

Unless they plan on just straight up putting all the choices from the keep into the character creator, then nothing matters other than the most broad choices. No nuance, nothing. I doubt they'll go beyond Inquisition.

Which is a shame, if my assumption is correct. More talented developers could have put references to them in Weisshaupt. Maybe a tomb or something.

It’s been a decade and many people who play this won’t have played inquisition much less DAO and DA2. BioWare has also said they are moving away from “quantic” characters. That is, characters who have multiple fates. Leliana for example coming back if you cut her head off in origins.

Eventually it’s just a matter of scale-you can only accommodate so much variation in a single game. And no studio has the money or desire to do six and then twelve different branching sequels-which is what is really required to make player choice more than an illusion.

Apparently the game will begin in media res, with Varric giving a lot of exposition(this means Varric is certainly going to die)-because it’s three games and countless choices you have to account for with a lot of lore.

Then they shouldn't do story lines that carry on to next games. Each game should be self contained and Dragon Age Inquistiion arc should have ended right there and then by the last DLC.

Continue an arc and then saying they don't want quantic characters and arcs... that's just telling me they have no idea what they are talking about or doing.

Yeah, they have learned absolutely nothing from the shitstorm over Mass Effect 3's ending.

It's old fans that want to finally see a conclusion to the story, I think. Well, that primarily fangirls using it as a dating sim. The particularly dedicated ones are especially unhinged.

I deal with one IRL. Its as bad as you'd imagine
i personally wanna see how it ends.
started with origins back in 2010 (yes, a year late. but i got the xbox 360 in 2010).

.. i also wanna deck that knife-ear solas

Who exactly is left who makes good 3d RPGs? Obsidian has gone to the dogs too.
Obsidian, Larian, and if you are willing to wait a year after release, Owlcat and CDPR. Does Fromsoft count? Elden Ring seems to be closer to a RPG than what we've witnessed today.
Game plays like the Frostbite games (DA:I and ME:A), not in a good way, why did this take ten years to make?
Hookers and blow... Sex Positive empowered service workers and troonshine.
Bioware chose a nig as the PC
Larian had an African for the default human. But the only time BG3 players ever use the default human is if they disguise themselves to commit crime.
Larian's writing is only like a medium step up from BioWare's current dogshit. CDRP has gone to shit
Not really, BG3's far better narratively than Origins was. After all the updates, CDPR's CP77 is excellent.
Expect a lot of dumb "Orange Man Bad" and "RIGHT WING PEOPLE ARE EVIL" allegory from retards
Yes, Larian had an entire faction of coal-black gay gnome terrorists, but no one was evil because of their White/Male/Straight/cisNormal status or otherwise.
there was a conservative somewhere once.
Shocking! I'm worried how woke their next game will be.
So in the character creator, I like to call it ‘Last Time on Dragon Age,’ but you can go into your past adventures and it, actually through tarot cards, tells you what the context was and what decision you want to make.”
Obsidian's Tyranny allowed you to customise the game world at the start, by making a series of choices about the evil invasion you were leading. I really doubt today's Bioware could pull something like that off.

I don't get how the monster designs in origins looks better than the designs in veilguard.

The new demons are just as bad. They took away the pride demons legs and it just floats now. No more behemoth.

Edited to add the new darkspawn.

This has got to be EA demanding they put something out. I can't imagine that publisher being pleased that they have to throw money at this studio with nothing to show for it. But even then, surely they could have done better than this?

I've wondered the same thing, if this is an Alpha Protocol situation where the higher-ups got sick of years of delays and finally ordered the developer to put something on the shelves, just so they could recoup something. Dragon Age is dead as Julius Caesar if that's the case.

They don’t consider monster/world design in their fantasy RPG to be important. Which tells you if they should be working on it or not.

There’ll be 50 billion references to butt-fucking, sassy *snap* put downs, and getting bubble tea with your best elf pal, because that’s where they start at and work down.

Everything else is window dressing for an expensive dating sim.

The way everyone is mentioning how it looks like Fortnite or other hero shooters, I'm really starting to wonder on how absurd this development got. I mean... what if Dreadwolf was going nowhere and they were working on a Dragon Age hero shooter game on the side and they're just porting those assets over? It's an absurd notion, I know, but it can't help but pop into my mind.
Made by the same people who made The Witcher 3. What a sick joke.
Well actually he drove those people away.

I agree. Dreadwolf wasn't hitting certain kpis, or marks, or maybe it was too dark. Meanwhile the hero shooter was chuggling along but didn't have enough lore/substance/resources. Instead of releasing two broken games with another 5 years of dev time, they rolled two into one and said "push it out the door".

Tbf, how many people actually kept or even remember their 10 year old save file?

If you saw the gameplay stream yesterday, You knew they bot the fuck out of it with positive likes and comments. Watch what happens when all the bots are cleared out and real people start talking.

The L&D ratio was 95/5 after the stream ended. now its overall dislikes.
