I was kicking and screaming with disapproval when I heard two “go to hell” statements in an argument between Ferrell and Ditka. That five-second segment of the film excluded it from a Dove approval which we would have loved to give it. It is Dove’s policy to not award any film with the Dove Seal if it contains a curse such as “go to hell” or “damn you” because those statements are cursing a person to hell. A movie can have a “what the hell” or “damn” and still be approved because those statements are not curses but are obscenities.

There's a difference between a fake "swear" and somebody dropping an f bomb in a cartoon
Like when Spongebob says "Oh barnacles" do they faint on a couch like an early 1900's woman wearing a crazy gurdle?

People pay to get their films reviewed by this company?

Yes, I also forgot to mention this is a non-profit organization.
The Dove Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage and promote the creation, production, distribution and consumption of wholesome family entertainment. We are supported primarily by donations from families such as yours who want to move Hollywood in a more family-friendly direction. All Donations are tax deductible.

I was curious to see what they thought of Dragon Ball, but I was not pleased to find that Dragon Ball Evolution was the only Dragon Ball related thong on there.

“Dragonball is adapted from the manga created by Akira Toriyama; the work was also turned into a Japanese anime series that played all over the world. It tells the story of an alien sent to destroy Earth, who has a change of heart and decides to join the humans in their fight against various aliens and bad guys. Justin Chatwin is starring as the hero Goku, while James Marsters will play the villain Piccolo in the sci-fi adventure.

Not only is that not even how the film portrays it, but they kinda got it a bit more wrong than DBE (guess being hit on the head as a baby counts as a "change of heart "

Sex: Kissing by a couple in a few scenes; a man touches woman's hip as he mounts motorcycle-type vehicle and she quickly tells him to stop.

It's cute how thought that man was touching her "hip."

But hey, at least they acknowledge the movie has crap writing.

501c3, means you can deduct it from your taxes. May not be much, but if you have a sharp accountant they'd probably be keeping an eye out for stupid shit like this to shave a bit more off corporate taxes.

You can deduct a donation, that is, something given for free not expecting anything of value in return.

If it's a transaction where they provide something of value, such as by endorsing your movie for people to buy, that's a quid pro quo transaction. Any deduction would have to be decreased by the value of what is returned, if it's even a donation at all.

Some people seem to genuinely not understand the degree to which a story needs, well, conflict, to work......

"Mad Max: Fury Road- not recommended for families"
No crap, it's rating is "Restricted audiences."
It's hilarious that they were even reviewing NC-17 movies beforehand. The people interested in these recommendations aren't going to be looking for NC-17 stuff, anyway.

Only semi-related, but my parents used to rent movies from "Clean flix," which sold sanitized versions of films on DVD-Rs.
The fun thing about the sanitized DVDs is they sometimes make movies seem dirtier than they really were. O, Brother, Where Art Thou? has the line, "Well, we was fixin' to fornicate!" Sanitized made it "Well, we was fixin' to f-"

There's a similar filtering service out now called VidAngel, a streaming service that lets you pick what filters you want. Say what you will about the service, its audience, intentions, etc., but I admit their ad is pretty well done.
