I felt sick watching this trailer. I wouldn't put the blame for this playing at the Gamba Awards on Larian if only because they do not run the show, they submitted a trailer and it was approved to run alongside the Muppets. Considering I don't believe the show is rated, the fact it was let through is gross.

That said, I've enjoyed DoS2 and BG3 so if they don't fuck up from a gameplay perspective, I'm likely going to enjoy this too.

Is it apprehensive that an orgy was apparently happening in full view of children while a presumably innocent man was burned to death? Yes. Was it vile watching pigs slurp up vomit? Yes. Is all of this disgusting hedonism on display? Yes.

I think that's the point, lads.

I did not watch this and feel like any of this shit is being glorified. It's a gory mess and the burning man's sorcery going apeshit feels like retribution being handed out on a society that celebrates and revels in the seven sins. A mother let her child watch a fucking cult murder, for Christ's sake. They're not normal. They all died and I felt no pity. I saw the burning man in the middle of whatever that burnt statue was at the end and felt at peace. Their fate is getting picked off by crows and being swallowed by the void of history.

Their time had come.

Are there people who will view this display as beautiful and as some kind of awakening or recognition of their sick and twisted perversions being justified and seen? Probably. Is that how the developers of this game feel? I hope not, I've enjoyed their games.

But based purely on the trailer, again, all I'm seeing is a bunch of disgusting cretins fucking around and finding out.

No gameplay no hype. Also it's fucking hilarious watching some of you turn into church ladies over some sex and violence in a game trailer.

Hahahahahahahaha How The Fuck Is That Shoving It Down Your Throat Hahahaha Nigga Just Walk Away From The Screen Like Nigga Close Your Eyes Haha
Please point me towards a nonpozzed modern cRPG so I can play it.

It will play like their three previous games.

Everyone aping HBO got stale a decade ago, now it's just gross.

I really hope the combat is based off DOS2 and not BG3. The DnD spell system in BG3 is so fucking boring and uninteresting whereas all the spells and combat in DOS2 was super fun. I loved making a frost paladin and poison summoner and all the other cool combos you could do in Divinity. It also was the perfect mix of complexity. I felt like Rogue Trader was good but the combat system was too complex and it was tiring keeping track of all the stats and buffs. Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate Demonhunters also also a great mix of playability.

Ever played pathfinder? How would you compare that to DOS2?

the entire point of the trailer was to show that the people were fully drenched in the 7 deadly sins and the focal point, the burning man's sorcery from all that pain and sin erupted on them.
we'll see how they spin it in the actual narrative, Lefty people always tend to circle back and go "hedonism is actually LE GOOD"

It was over in a flash so it didn't really stay with me, but like a lot of people I didn't particularly care for that overtly demonic bit of imagery.
I mean that's what it was, you can't get any clearer then that.

I won't be buying their products after this. Everybody ranted and raved about BG3 but I bought it and couldn't get rid of the sour taste. The writing isn't great. It's decent, but the major thing the plot has going for it is the sheer amount of choices available to proceed through set pieces and the gore tit shock value. Once you realize this, the legit great acting and motion capture cant cover for it.

It's an overabundance of sweets with no substance.

Rogue trader 40k is the better game.

How retarded are you all that @Duane Dibbley is the reasonable one here? You guys are posting about how this is like a pride parade cutscene where the audience is invited to approve of a bunch of degeneracy and is therefore woke. I was really reluctant to watch it but it's immediately apparent from the creepy masked priest and the way people treat the sacrifice that it's an evil and degenerate town and you're supposed to find them evil. It is bad that the kid was watching all this, that's why they showed that to you. The horror is in the disconnect between villagers acting like this is a normal May Day festival and the orgy of sex and torture we see. It steals the visual language of wicker man and midsommar.

Sure it's needlessly edgy and violent to have this be the trailer. I don't like horror with gore or torture porn, but this is what horror with gore always is. The game could be woke in whatever way and I'm sure it's going to have random gay niggers running around fantasy medieval Europe for no reason, but this trailer is the opposite of woke slop.

Wait, all the points of wokeness and nihilism seemed to be condemned in the trailer. Like the little girl watching faggot lizards fuck was also clapping to the brutal execution of a wicker man. And the end result was that they were all destroyed and turned into a meat statue.

I am as wary as can be with modern video games, but I didn't see this anywhere near that WotC artwork of niggers and faggot wizards and orks with cameras.

All these people were brutally murdered due to their degeneracy, like Sodom and Gomorrah or the Eldar and the birth of Slanesh.

There's two questions your not asking yourself.

Did it need to be fully shown?
There are other artistic ways of showing such a thing.

And was it accidentally based?
I've seen that a lot lately when using critical thinking.

...so I'm guessing the people upset about the trailer weren't fans of "The Wicker Man" (1973) in which a good christian man is burned alive screaming while the island people are having a happy summer dance?

while hyped, I see very little in the trailer that seems related to the other divinity games and found it distasteful. dos1 and 2 are among my favorite games ever but there is that small worry that the bg3 success allowed them to hire the same faggots ruining other games. the rampant degeneracy in bg3 compared to dos2 is also worrying.

The outrage is about the trailer being shown live during the Game Awards to an unsuspecting audience. You have this feeling on it because you watched it divorced from the context of the trailer’s premiere.

The problem isn’t that the trailer was what it was, the problem is that it was dumped on people who were watching an awards show and not expecting HBO trash to ambush them on screen. If Divinity faggots like this shit, more power to them, but I didn’t appreciate having that shoved down my throat.
You're watching an awards show that has shown violent video games before and every year, without fail, preaches about lesbians, gays and trannies, while showing on camera some disgusting looking fat tranny.
You can't see all of that and not have a care in the world and then collapse on your feinting couch like a shrinking violet when you see Wickerman CGI.

Where were the cries of horror when TLoU, RE or MK was shown?

Yeah I don't like that either. You called out that they are trying to generate buzz from nonconsensually showing people gore at the VGA, that's spot on. the best way to punish that is not to pearl clutch and just don't give it oxygen, and then simply don't watch the VGAs next year. The Oscars were always fucking stupid and i can't believe gamers are reinventing it the moment the Oscars became irrelevant. The Oscars let the media bootstrap coverage of itself by generating fake controversies and endless discussions of red carpet fashion. That's what is being done here with this video and the only weapon that works against it is apathy, negative engagement feeds the machine even more than positive engagement does.

But that's not what people here are saying. People here are saying the trailer itself is satanic:

"The orgy was genuinely repulsive, and shot in such a way that highlights they know it is repulsive and want to rub your face in it."

"Nah, previous Larian games tell me they wanted you to view this as cool and badass."

"It was over in a flash so it didn't really stay with me, but like a lot of people I didn't particularly care for that overtly demonic bit of imagery. I mean that's what it was, you can't get any clearer then that."

The vibe of the trailer really didn't come off as "ah yes this is a good thing and you're supposed to like it." Assuming they're consistent with the IP and looking back at the only other Divinity game I've played (DOS2) I don't think they're gonna go down that route. Could it be that post Baldur's Gate 3 the game is going to ape Veilguard? Maybe. I don't see the point in preemptively assuming the game will be bad though. That said all I care about is if there's a good story with good worldbuilding, gameplay and soundtrack. Larian has generally delivered in the past on what I want out a game.
