Looks like Disney bent back and are changing Splash Mountain to be a Princess and the Frog ride. I’m shocked. That would cost a lot especially when the parks aren’t making as much as they should because of the pandemic.

Lol, the only thing in Critter Country is gonna be a Winnie the Pooh ride. That's such a weird area of Disneyland, it's just a culdesac with some Pooh stuff. While they're at it they should just rename it to Pooh Corner. Weird place to have an area for small kids tbh, since it's so far from the park entrance and you have to walk through a bottleneck area

That's really surprising, I guess it's confirmation that things like the Star Wars hotel are shitcanned for good. If they're doing an expensive retheming in both parks, they won't be able to afford to restart canceled projects.

Also, there are no plans to change Splash Mountain in Japan…I see a lot more people will have reason to claim Japan has the best Disney parks.

At least Japan still appreciates those characters (and the European Disney comic authors that still write those stories).

I mean, Princess and the Frog is certainly better than say a new Star Wars or Marvel. At least it is an animated feature. Still a dumb decision though, but that is par for the course for Disney nowadays. I cannot wait to see Universal take them out with Nintendo.

They'll probably just make it all part of New Orleans Square. Pretty shitty, too, since Critter Country has the comfiest background music.

Doesn't Japan also still have the original auction scene in Pirates as well?

I said they were never going to do it. Fuck me, I was wrong.

This is entirely performative.

Incidentally, anyone remember that story posted a few pages back about the black person in the Frozen live show? I wonder if things like that have been happening recently at the Disney parks.

What was the Frozen story?

The musical on broadway their father was played by a black man.

This is another cash grab, like when maelstrom became Frozen Ever After.

I saw a bit of chatter that they may have already been planning this for a year or so. I'll miss the vultures.

Disney said Imagineers have been working a Princess and the Frog concept for Splash Mountain since last year and will soon conduct preliminary reviews of the attraction at both parks.
so yeah looks like this may have been in the works before Current Troubles
for real though does anybody give any fucks about Princess And The Frog? I thought that was on the official shitlists too for Spooky Voodoo and that stupid alligator

The timing is still pretty suspicious. If they'd done it last month, I'd still have said it was idiotic, but it wouldn't have come off as performative.

I don't think the ride would be a bad one, mind you, but I'm still pissed off over Tower of Terror. I ain't getting over this one.

(Though I don't think they mentioned closing it in Tokyo Disneyland...)
