It's a wonder the movie got made in the first place, it was very controversial during development. The main character's name and appearance were both declared racist and pressured Disney into changing both. The prince was originally white, but a highly progressive interracial relationship in 1920's Louisiana was declared also racist and they made the prince black too. Then they demanded the voodoo witch doctor and the New Orleans setting had to go and only then were they told to eat a bag of dicks.

So all the more reason to continue believing in that tin foil hat theory that Disney sabotaged Princess and the Frog's success so they could kill the traditional animation department. All while throwing their biggest moneymakers under the bus for it.

As for race switching in live shows, all I know is that before the Corona shut down, Galaxy's Edge switched the race of one of the First Failure officer meet and greets that had a "canon" backstory or some shit.

The funny thing is, I actually *really* liked The Princess and the Frog. It has one of the best messages of any of the "modern" day Disney movies... Work hard, dig deeper if you aren't successful at first, and don't wait for the easy way out. If it had one failing, it was that this message was technically aimed at black people in current day America. No wonder it failed.

I can't really say I'm that surprised, aren't the animatronics in Splash Mountain known for malfunctioning on some occasions?

To be fair Warner Bros. somehow manages to remember that, at least back when those cartoons were made, Looney Tunes wasn’t exactly the standard child’s fare channels like Cartoon Network and Boomerang have caused the IP to morph into and actually gives them the RESPECT they deserve. On the other side of coin Disney is still hyper-obsessed with being as squeaky-clean and family-friendly as possible when it comes to bringing back their classic cartoons.

Don't forget that Lady and the Tramp is a story about pre-marital sex and pregnancy.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think one of the last things Michael Eisner announced was the intention to do just that with Song of the South. But he left the company before the project really began, leaving it to Bob Iger to cancel it after viewing the film.

He tried to do a release where they'd have Song of the South followed by the John Henry short they did in 2000, as a representation of how far Disney had come.

They wanted to get Maya Angelou to do an intro for the film and, again, show how far they'd come, but they had to abandon that because it turned out she didn't like the film and was offended by it - I mean, how could they have guessed, really?

Not sure about Land but yeah Disney World's was notorious for a while about having shoddy maintenance even for Disney World
when they work it's a cute enough ride but getting a ton of filthy ride water smashed into your face and dumped in your lap is really gross tbh

I got free Disney+ with my new internet service and I've realized they did not make this service to cater to me at all, lol.

I wanted to watch random crap that barely anybody remembers: Dumbo's Circus, Welcome to Pooh Corner, KIDS Incorporated, and weird shit like that. I watched that stuff as a kid, and just wanted to experience how dumb it all is with adult eyes.

And for Star Wars, I would love to rewatch the Droids and Ewoks cartoons, again, just to experience random crap that I barely remember from my childhood.

Last time I checked, they also didn't have "Watcher in the Woods" which was a movie Disney produced in the early 80s that is basically their attempt at a horror movie. Barely anyone remembers it, but I liked it as a kid and I would like to rewatch it...oh well.

Also, I'm shocked they don't have all of the classic animated shorts grouped together. They have a few, but not nearly enough. If I want to watch 9 straight hours of Donald Duck cartoons, I should be able to do that goddamn it!

At least they have all the Disney Afternoon shows. Gargoyles was the first thing I watched and I'm amazed at how well that show holds up. Also X-Men makes for a fun rewatch. And it also has Heavyweights, which was my favorite live action Disney movie as a kid (Ben Stiller is fucking hysterical in that one). And the one "random crap that barely anyone remembers" show that I could find was the Spider Woman cartoon from the 70s, which I had a couples tapes of in my youth.

Unless they update their content though, I can't see myself holding onto this subscription after I've blown through everything I want to watch.

After the controversy with Spider-Woman like a couple years ago, I'm surprised Disney+ was willing to put that cartoon up there. Not that she looks terrible in it, the one tape I had as a kid had okay episodes on it, but she's still clearly wearing spandex.
