Welp, so much for their new 'live service' cashcow. I ddin't got for D3 because of the auction house and online shit, and skipped on D4 because I'm not paying 70 bucks for the same BS...looks like people are finally on the same page.

It looks like D4 is coming to steam too. Is every new Blizz fuckup going to end up on stream to recoup some losses from now on?
The problem is that a launcher to cross promote your games only works if you have at least one game people really want to play. Though I never understood why people are so afraid of having more than one launcher, I remember back in the day when every game had their own launcher despite being offline single player.

I think it boils down to the hassle of it, you need to register to an other service just to play a few games and it'll always be one more extra step to play them, Steam is just too big and too established at this point and most people would prefer everything at one place. Although I've heard that Uplay and Bethesda.net lauchers likes to crap themselves more often than not, but I have no experience with them.

You are still gonna have to log into battle.net even after buying the game on Steam so not much is changing.

That's the difference to me. load up a 100 different installers that are just pre-game menus? fine.

Have me log in to ubisoft, ea, xbox, steam and battle.net just to play a game, requiring an account with each? Go fuck yourself.

If blizz want to fix diablo, start by removing the fucking retarded, spastic idea of having to connect to a server to play a single player game. Dumb. Dumb. Fucking Dumb.

I just hate that mentality as it's how you get mega corps that are shit. Besides, I have everything in one place, it's called my desktop.

According to that 4chan leak, it seems d4 will be hard rebooted at season 3 to try and at least recoup some form of loss. I completely believe this as it seems very Blizzard and the 4chan Blizzard leakers are clearly some insiders because they get most things correct.

How the fuck do you lose 6,930,000 in a matter of weeks? Absolute fucking lunacy, this game does not need to be online all the time and is clearly there to gauge MAUs. The only game on Blizzard's catalog with a good gameplay loop is OW2, it has problems but at its root, it is a great shooter. They tried to bleed D4's community for everything.

I'm glad it's dying. Free-to-play mechanics in a 70 buck game is bullshit. Blizzard were more focused on making the next big live service game, that they forgot to make a fun game.

So all players will have their characters reset to zero and lose all items (I haven't seen the leaks and don't play D4)?

How the hell would that recoup any losses for Blizzard? I'd argue that it might further lose them players, by either pissing off whales who bought a lot of in-game shit which gets reverted, or pissing off everyone else if they exempt paid items.

If you're talking about recent releases (all 2 of them), you're probably right.

Honestly, at this point in time I don't think Blizzard is still capable of making a completely new game (as in a completely new concept, not a sequel or remaster of their old shit).

What’s funny is that D3 is completely playable offline on the 360 version. So it’s clearly never been a technical problem regardless of what retards will claim otherwise.

I imagine it would be like D3 when they got rid of the RMAH and launched an expansion + console versions.

They turned D3 from a laughably bad game to one with a decent gameplay loop and fun mechanics.

It sounds like D3 was a better base game though.

For D3 to "take off" they just had to adjust loot drops (to account for no more RMAH), tweak some numbers, and create a mode that wasn't tied to the terrible story.

It sounds like D4 needs a lot of work because the impression I get is the campaign story was good enough to keep people playing but the game itself is not very good.

I played it for all of 15 minutes and quit because I was lagging in single-player...

I can't comment on the quality of the campaign because I turned that shit off before it got going. I wonder how many did the same?
