Is there any more to it than two blobs that identify themselves as women talk on their sob story life while playing a game designed so even retards can beat it?
Yes, it shows that the people who designed the game's dungeons have no idea how the basics of the game like resource generation, health potions and core skills work, all while dying when playing level 50 characters in WT1. The fact that they're two blobs is the least concerning part of this horrific shitshow.

So i've just picked this game up. I was a yuge diablo 1 and 2 fan, thought 3 was dogshit and an embarrassment story wise but not half bad fun to run though.

Anyway, I'm playing single player mode, which I had to wait in a queue to access, then i'm running around the starting area glitching and lagging all over the place.

What the fuck is this? It's a single player game, why the fuck am I lagging? Is there any way of playing this fucking piece of shit offline?

Yet you still gave them money before doing the bare minimum look first because the complaints about it being an online "single player" game are at the top.

I'm sure Blizz learned their lesson.
I didn't pay for it. My brother bought it to play with his friends and I just used the gamepass share glitch to play it. It's the only reason I tried it, because after D3, there's no chance I was going to buy D4 for more than £10.

I had seen that the main town section was like an MMO, which was retarded, I just didn't think Blizzard would be retarded enough to introduce lag to a single-player session. Why shoot themselves in the foot like that?

Making sure mistakes like Median XL and Dota never repeats again. Always online ensures you can only ever play it their way, not in a non-Blizzard approved way.

It's always online DRM and a way to introduce a Battlepass and Cash Shop into a single player game. It makes them even more money so they'll never stop doing it.

Yup. Like everyone bitches about everything Blizz does, but then they lineup like a bunch of crack whores for every release. Every WoW and diablo release they all come flooding back to give their tribute to Blizz

Blizz has their customers figured out completely.

I wouldn't go that far, honestly.

WoW went from like ~12,000,000 players to (some say) 800,000 in Retail and another 800k in Classic - there's been a big drop from each expansion and it's unlikely that Dragonflight is going to convert anyone back long term.

Diablo 3 lost players from Diablo 2 and Diablo 4 is going to lose more players long term.

Blizzard is monetizing their remaining playerbase but it's a number that does shrink after every bad/mediocre release and that's all Blizz has these days.

Even when they lose players long term they still make massive spikes during releases. If those decrease they just increase prices or monetization and the simps come right back.

It's still a shrinking audience.

WOTLK at one point had 12 million players, meaning it sold more than 12,000,000 copies (as people don't all always play at the same time). Shadowlands sold 4 million and Dragonflight is reportedly even lower than that currently with no momentum to increase that. It's a drop off of nearly 66% - even if they are able to monetize that remaining 34% harder it's still a hit.

There's also the issue of "creative" accounting. Shadowlands and DF can be picked up by players playing Classic (as they share a sub) and both were discounted pretty quickly after launch. Whereas WOTLK required the base game and Burning Crusade.

I realize that a base of ~4,000,000 players is nothing to sneeze at, but it is a number that shrinks year over year as Blizz releases more and more garbage and games that are their competitors (POE, FF14, etc) steal more and more of their customer base. They do not have a compelling strategy or an actual ability to grow the audience and their growth has been downward for like a decade.

I used to grab WoW expansions when they went on discount later in their release, but I haven't bothered at all anymore. The catch up mechanics make most of the expansion irrelevant by that point, and the gameplay hasn't evolved at all, so I don't see any reason to keep playing WoW or try any of their new content. Diablo 4 didn't hook me at all during the beta so I didn't pick it up on release, and now hearing how bad it is I don't really plan to buy it even on sale.

I wonder how many other people fall into this category with Blizzard IPs. The always online thing isn't an issue for me in terms of tech, but I hate having to be always online so they can shill me shit and fuck with my game when they update it, so it does make me less likely to buy if it's a "feature".

i tried the beta, waited on a queue for like 15 min and when i started played for like 5 min before saying to myself why the fuck im playing this. im sure at some time in the future it will get added to the free games that i will never play in another client that i wont ever start

This was me, except the 15 mins queue time was 5 mins, and the 5 minutes of play time was 15 minutes.

As soon as i got to the first boss, after dealing with enemies jumping around and my spells lagging, I thought "fuck this". Went back to town after killing a boss so easy it damaged my IQ and saw that the items i picked up had "unlock new cosmetic by scrapping this item". lol, no. fuck cosmetics, I'm out.

I deleted it, then made my rant post. There's a good chance I'll never think about Diablo again, after been a massive Diablo 1 and 2 fan. In the same way I did with Fallout. Fallout 3 was meh, NV was good, if not buggy and 4 was so bad I never want to play another Bethesda Fallout game for as long as I live.

The "always online" shit was a major issue to me before Diablo 3 was launched, so the only version I ever played was the offline version made for consoles. It only got updated to Reaper of Souls, but I'll trade the Necromancer and all their faggy seasonal crap for a version where the only waiting comes from loading the game off the disk.

When Diablo 4 was announced to be continuing the trend, I wasn't going to get it. Always-online bullshit does not belong in Diablo, and I'm never going to compromise on that one.
