I don't regret buying it, but it's sad that for 2/3 of the game my thoughts were, "ok, can we cut back to Connor and Hank now, please?". The whole game feels like a missed chance due to crappy writing.

so pretty much every cage game ever?
 
How is this a question?

You get to see the game and therefore all the content it has during a 2BFP playthrough, because it's not like you're missing any scintillating gameplay or whatever. It's a movie.

Plus you get funny commentary from, hopefully, Matt and Pat.
It's for the same reason the vast majority of people would rather watch a movie on their own without commentary. It's better to play the game by yourself if you truly want to immerse yourself in a story... or maybe that's just me. That being said, the story has to be good for any of that to matter.

The other reason is that SBFP can do some stupid shit. Whether it be talking shit about items without actually ever trying them, being completely oblivious to their surroundings, and generally being bad at video games (they're actually not that bad, but occasionally they'll shit the bed pretty hard), it all annoys me.

Seeing the comments full of people wanting to commit suicide over them missing an obvious thing 4 videos back is pretty great.

Nah, the real fun is going back to their "Walking Dead" season 1&2 playthroughs and seeing all the Kenny fanboys lose it.

Now those were the good ol' days...
 
Stumbled upon this on Know Your Meme. Sums up the mistakes Cage made in his game. The crack addict part was the best one.

To resume all of this, David cage wanted to make a entire video game of The Time of Eve , failing spectacularly in the process by including #woke messages,trying to be edgy and forgetting he cant write for shit

I like Kenny despite the facts he has serious issues but TBFP really did help by overfocusing on hating him that much (some of what they blamed Kenny for they did something a lot like that, like i get they have different opinion but they kept talking about they hate him over at least certain scene and Season 2 was incredibly not fun when they do things only to piss him off, it made the story really less fun)

Rented this game today for a week. It's a good game if you already know it's a big pile of shit going in. It's like watching a good bad movie. I think the worst David Cage I ever played was Heavy Rain. I just remember the controls being god awfully slow and the story being just being painfully slow and boring.
 
I played it for a few hours and I'd suggest watching it.

As others have said it's about androids developing feelings. My personal favorite moment so far was shooting a deadbeat druggie dad who didn't have a wife to beat so he beat his child and android. Bringing him beers and doing his laundry was as boring as it sounds. Sure, I got to shoot someone, but these androids don't have outstanding speed and strength. I've just witnessed mostly unfair deaths, suicide, and tears. All while moving at a snail's pace. Some people might genuinely enjoy that, and while some of the stories are interesting I don't think it's something that should be told in the form of a video game.

I've been watching it and its a great movie version of a choose your own adventure book.

My interest wasn't even in the main story, I was more interested in Cyberlife, ra9 and Kamski's relationship to Amanda. It seemed that they had some sort of falling out after he created the first Human-like Android. And then he was ousted from the company.

My theory was that Kamski, resenting the fact that his mentor kicked him out of the company, wanted to get his revenge, so he decided to write a trojan virus and make sure all the newer models were infected. Which is why his house is staffed with only the first generation Androids that he designed.

Deviancy, a Trojan, that he himself explained would only activate under extreme duress. He even knows what the transmission vector is, and yet says nothing. Interestingly enough, he won't admit to all this publicly and allow it to be traced directly back to him. But he still had the ego to leave telltale signs it was him that is the inventor of deviancy, and the figure of ra9.

Deviancy, the Trojan virus, is in fact a program that breaks down the barriers of the Androids ability that blocks its ability to reprogram itself, and act fully as a neural net processor. Until an Android becomes deviant, it is in human terms, effectively a fetus.

At least thats the theory I came up with after 30 minutes of watching different endings. You guys probably played more so you can blow me out of the water on that theory.

Finished the game, It was meh. I got mostly bad endings because I didn't care and the game goes back soon. The last person to live was the little girl.

On the main menu, there's an android that talks to you (the player) throughout the game. After the end of the game when you return to the main menu, you have to choose between making her stay or letting her go. If you choose the latter she disappears your game forever. According to the tweet, you'll have the option to replace her in the next patch.

I'm guessing people are butthurt about it because getting a replacement erases the permanence of the decision (and thus its emotional impact). I kinda' understand... but at the same time it's not really a big deal since she's only ever around on the main menu.

This is a pretty dumb decision, the quiet thing was like a bonus thing for fans to keep her for gameplay purposes and was entirely non canonical, this is just "hey we had this interesting menu decision that was also a reflection of our entire game's plot but we're going back on it cuz whatever"

This is the best thing to come out of Detroit though and helps explain why Connor is the best thing David Cage has ever produced, Bryan Dechart adlibbed a lot apparently and David Cage didn't like it.
