Destiny fans couldn't ask for a more deserving developer than Bungie. Seeing redditors sperg out over Destiny being back just proves that they really are just cattle that deserve to be milked and slaughtered. I hope Bungie vaults all your favorite guns in the next expansion. I hope they kill off whatever beloved character you draw fanart of. I hope they release a million dungeon keys and charge double for silver. Try not to choke on that boot.

Twitter post from Josh Deane
Just some closing week thoughts for you all
The biggest thing is, thank you. Your response to our comms this week has injected our team with so much energy and hope, please know that
The next is, I know there are a lot of questions on the how, what, when of unvaulting. Including any potential future updates to D2 and what’s beyond for Destiny
There’s going to be a very intentional process for all of it that will take time. But over the next few weeks (targeting prior to the end of October) we’ll talk about what our first step is going to look like with more clarity
But instead of a traditional ‘roadmap’ comms I’d rather talk about it through the lens of a progress bar. Bring you all closer, more consistently to our dev milestones. And just be transparent about any challenges we run into and show you the proof of work along the way that unlocks further understanding
That way when we share a release date we’re all on the same page and have the right expectations that leads directly into how we'll further celebrate Destiny's legacy and vision for the future
So, talk more soon. Keep your eyes up.

Also, I want to dedicate a quick post to Hippy:

Fuck you for your "if you want more Destiny then you should buy Marathon" bullshit. I didn't play a goddamn second of Marathon and they still brought Destiny back. I'm glad you got fired, your TWABs were objectively the worst.
This should always be remembered whenever this scenario happens again in the future and corporate cocksuckers trot this line out.

>Shills: "Play Apex Legends to get more Titanfall"
>Apex blows up and becomes a huge success
>Outcome: Titanfall is never seen or heard from again

>Shills: "Play Marathon to get more Destiny"
>Marathon crashes out and nobody gives a shit about it
>Outcome: Destiny is revived and Marathon is shoved to the back of the bus

At this point the best future for Destiny will be the modding scene with stuff like Project Sunrise. Hopefully we'll get some playable custom clients for Destiny 2 with mod support.

Fingers crossed Sony doesn't cease and desist them all

The game is back at 99k peak daily players right now according to popularity.report, while Marathon's daily peak across all platforms might not even be 5k.
It still astounds me that not only did Soyny pay billions for Bungie but that multiple layers of management, marketing, etc no one raised enough of a fuss to question putting aside their only money maker for an extraction shooter of all things.

I'm surprised they didn't just add an extraction mode to destiny given that Marathon is just using destiny assets/animations/netcode anyway

someone didn't play renegades introduction quests, which are fucking free and the game constantly annoys you to do it.
they also keep a permanent quest related to renegades but you can't do it if you are a free player because bungo hates free players.

I have never played a single minute of Destiny in my life but as an outsider looking in it looks like the remaining audience has a case of Stockholm Syndrome.
It was absolutely a "dysfunctional, abusive relationship" game, not dissimilar from what you'd hear about from DBD veterans. "Fuck this game, fuck you guys, never playing it again, see you all again Saturday."
Was it a dumb move that killed a lot of trust in Bungie? 100%. But I can't blame them for making it at the time.
Don't forget that the DCV was announced at the same time as weapon sunsetting, and I don't think people were anywhere near as attached to old campaign content as they were to the gunz they'd ground for.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=yZhcLo-2e04Video covering the cancelled Project Payback game, Destiny hero shooter making use of characters from the universe, horrifying.
That's a shame. The original project payback was supposed to be a isometric looter shooter/ARPG incorporating aspects of Diablo, Helldiver's 1 and Monster Hunter. All to make a more approachable new entry point into the franchise. When it was canceled I was initially disappointed, but seeing it what it was twisted into I'm glad it never got past testing. Just another thing that Bungie ruined the potential of, add it to the pile.

In the industry, no one is allowed to dissent, they are ejected immediately, so no one does it.

The direction of the company and their future products gets dictated top down, so they are fucked from above, and the Leftist retards inject every inch of space with retardation from below.

Call me conspiracy brained but this seems coordinated. Didn't Bungie's entire online team get laid off, who even is this guy?

The Destiny2Team reddit account has been around for a couple years. It was created after they faced backlash for some change that was being made so that it wouldn't be directed at a single person when communicating with the fanbase.

I still think it's genuinely insane they didn't make some extraction mode where you play as normal ass humans trying to scrounge for parts or whatever. They can't respawn, so there's your lore reason for why you lose all your shit. You don't have Light, so there's why you're a weak ass jobber getting your ass beat.

Or hell let you be a guardian still but you're in some spooky wooky dimension where your light doesn't work idfk Imagine fumbling the ball with something this easy

An even easier explanation for an extraction mode inside of Destiny 2 would've been the Nine (Eight?) sending us on trials and adventures into brand new locations.

IIRC it was created after Deege/DmG4? got phone booked by r/destinythegame and they sent a bunch of pizzas to his house. They sued the reddit user and then created the Destiny2Team account to anonymize posts made by employees and so no one employee would be blamed for a poorly received post.

There is a mention of such place in Destiny lore by Drifter, I also think the very next cancelled DLC supposed to in Old Chicago and it had mysterious creature hunting Guardians (I assume killing the permanently). But technically as I know resurrection of Guardians are not fast process like in the game, so Guardians are already perfect in-game explanation for having same character across runs.
