There was also the example of Famicom Detective Club which was censored for the western release (by removing sexual harassment interactions that led to fake game overs in The Girl Left Behind) a few months ago. That said, I do trust Nintendo for my imported weebshit as long as the japanese parent company remains in charge of doing things, not the american branch which is the one censoring the first-party titles in the West.

We've been in the midst of a long crash since the latter days of the PS3, or the mid ps4 at latest. If you want to deny that, then the crash of 83 didn't happen either.

Nintendo won't save us. I know Nintendroids want 8 bit platformers to be mainstream again, but Nintendo was an outsider, a toy company, when they "saved the industry". And that's assuming of course we ignore the home computer boom that happened in Europe and Japan, which we shouldn't.

And then there's the unstated major premise. That this will be the state of affairs forever. It won't. Gaming has been in constant flux since Pong, but now that suddenly stop? Not buying it.


I'll put the snark away and ask a serious question. What would it take for you to consider the industry "saved" or "better"?

It's just basically PR talk defusing a loaded question from the outlet. In other words, they are not going to change anything (and they shouldn't anyway) from what they're currently doing. Anyone actually familiar with japanese culture knows this is just 本音と建前 at work

And in the (unlikely) remote chance things were going to negatively impact my weebshit instead, I can drop Nintendo just like I did for SIE. I'm not a fanboy unlike you.

It's literally word for word the same statement that companies that have been deemed woke have made like Capcom. Fuck you could go back and read the statement that Sony of Japan made when meToo was a fad. So either diversity faggotry doesn't exist at all or it exists and everyone is doing it.

Also I own a Switch, it's just that Nintendies won't buy JRPGs in large numbers unless it has familiar Nintendo IPs plastered all over it. So you're really kind of fucked if you want anything outside of Nintendo first party games to actually grow and gain prominence. We're finally getting all the missing Legend of heroes games and in every territory they're played on Switch the least. Hell the fact that Sony keeps throwing money at RPG companies for game development and that Nintendo hasn't stepped up to the plate and done the same, really will determine where the majority of larger titles will end up just because of that.

Of course they do it, diversity is a major corporate trend. Literally not one game company or platform is free from it.

The issue is just how much it permeates into a final product.
