Same journos that later creamed their pants with 13 sentinels Aegis rim forgetting that it was from the same developer, short memory apparently is part of the requirements to be a game journo

Well good on them, if I can say I like a game from someone I hate it means that product must be really good enough to convince to me to support/buy it

Capcom's new vidya policy

Question.
Do artists who make nsfw renders and artworks featuring Capcom's characters break the law by receiving money for it, or not?
Some find loopholes by claiming "donations" via patreon and other platforms don't count as monetization because they receive money for "work" not "content" but it's not their characters?
Same about modders who sell nude mods.

Based on what I can find it's illegal to directly sell any kind of fan art that features copyrighted characters but it's not illegal to actually make the fan art itself. Most copyright holders only care about the "for profit" part of the law so as long as you don't sell it online or at conventions it should be fine.

I'd imagine Patreon donations do count as a loophole since you're not directly paying for any copyrighted work itself but rather supporting the artist.

That being said it all comes down to what the copyright holder (in this case Capcom) decides and if they don't like it then legally they could probably request for any NSFW work to be taken down.

I'm not a lawyer by any stretch though so I might have gotten something wrong but hopefully it should suffice.

Why can't more games companies be like Sega and just give up? Seriously what the hell is the point of wasting millions protecting your IP when your IP isn't doing very hot to begin with and you can just enslave redditors to do your work?

I know a few patreons or donation based projects like paypal that have been struck down and/or threatened with legal action to hell and back by Nintendo for the following:
  1. Making porn
  2. Making Fan Games
  3. Attempting to port games
  4. Hacking games (e.g. distributing a 60 hz patch for the Pal version of Luigi's mansion)
  5. Translation projects of any media.
I'm willing to bet Capcom is gonna go on a similar war path, where fan games are not allowed to exist in any capacity and the rest is left alone as long as it's not monetized.

The references to children, "men pretending to be women", and "pornified women" in those "threats" make me think this could be a right wing campaign, though it's hard to tell for sure. Now I have to go to the shops and get some more inverted commas.
Seemed more like TERF type comments, to be honest, if they're even real.

Streamers getting political will no devolve into certain games being for Political Group A and other games being for political Group B.

If you stream Game Y during Media Backed Important World Event that's a bad thing and you're part of Group B

If you stream game X during Media Backed Important World Event you're a good boy who is part of Group A

This is what consoles wars will become.

Oh hey another company faking Censorship Outrage

They're claiming that hundreds of death threats were sent to them despite next to nobody knowing that this studio existed.

While it's total bullshit it's quite interesting that these particular 'death threats' were not covered by either polygon or Kotaku I wonder why? afterall both are know to take death threats over twitter very seriously?

Twitch apparently removed gootecks pogchamp emotes because he spoke up about the woman getting shot at DC. What he said wasn't even that extreme of take, more like a statement of fact.

edit: Also I guess people are mad at him because he posted the video of the woman getting shot because it came from Infowars

edit2: twitch official statement

Please wake up me when they stop giving every single female character that ugly ass tumblr haircut 🤮

It sure is a downgrade from her cute as fuck pixie haircut in Perfect Dark Zero isn't it?

"Playing Dead or Alive contributes to a culture that is kinda sorta sexist in a kinda sorta way. Look at these charts showing the gender wage gap and number of female CEOs." We know that as bullshit, but it's harder to explain general trends without getting technical (which turns away the normies). Add in idiots who would blunder face first into her traps and it makes it harder to argue against. It's kind of like the Gish Gallop, but for feminism.
See, this is a perfect example of why the times we live in have become so fraught and divided, because so much of modern controversies are 100% subjective, there is no real "right" or "wrong" answer, it's all a matter of personal perspective, it's not something that can be debated in a purely logical, objective way, hence we get a recipe for endless conflict from now until the heat death of the universe.

The topic of sexy women in media is a perfect example of this, is it "sexist" or is it not? I mean maybe? It both is and it isn't, it just depends on your personal tastes, if you like that kind of stuff then it's not, if you don't, then it is.

It's not like Jack Thompson claiming that playing Grand Theft Auto III will turn someone into a violent killer or that Bully simulated school shootings, which were statements that were 100% quantifiability, objectively wrong, people like Anita instead deal in what is purely a matter of personal opinion.

The trouble is people like Anita want absolutely fucking everyone and everything to share their opinion, it's not enough to just say "eh, not my cup of tea, I'll spend my money elsewhere" oh no, it's got to be fucking destroyed, they will amass virtual angry mobs to try to ban and censor anything they don't like instead of just living and let live.

Basically all of SJW rhetoric is like that, like it's purposely designed just to foster endless conflict by trying to demand that absolutely fucking every last human being on planet Earth has the exact same opinion on absolutely fucking everything which is of course impossible, so you'll get nothing but endless division and arguments forever.

There's a bunch of myths when it comes to copyright. All the different laws in different countries, as well as general attitudes to breaking them, make it difficult to talk about. There's also legal departments looking to justify their increased budgets. eg. Bethesda's legal team suing a card game for having the title "Scrolls" because that might be confused with The Eldar Scrolls: Skyrim.

As a general rule, many companies are fine with fan projects and fan art as it's free advertising. Companies on the decline are against that stuff as they see it as a threat. Look at Nintendo who have a large business model re-selling people their NES collections every few years. Fan games, emulators, and archives have got to go because it threatens their cash cow.

Pogchamp was banned and they're switching the emote to a new famous streamer every day.

So they pick dude who goes full white genocide now because of capitol riots but he claims BLM was morally superior in what they did during the summer.

This guy basically talks in code. "White lives don't exist!" -> "White lives don't matter." -> "I never said white lives don't matter!" After he went into damage control mode he """clarified""" that "white lives" aren't the same as "white people" or some shit and I got even more confused.

The entire PogChamp situation is one big COPE by Twitch staff. You can tell they're absolutely fuming over the fact that the top 10 streamers on the platform are all white dudes that are walking TOS violations, yet control 90% of the audience. Nearly all of them have blacklisted the emote and there's clips going around of them laughing their ass off at the latest PogChamp, which is a drag queen essentially doing soyface.

Total fucking disaster.

One thing that sticks out for me about the PogChamp ban is that most people who used the emote probably had no clue who the fuck Gooteks is at all; no one gave a shit who's face it was for the emotes, people just liked using the emotes. Now everyone knows who Gooteks is and are likely siding with him on this because it's pathetic, stupid, and unnecessary since it fixes/solves nothing. Just looks good to Twitter.
A classic Streisand effect that will have the bonus effect of having whoever's face it is that's PogChamp for the day likely being ridiculed because they seem to choose the worst possible people for it. Which is really just Twitch in general, bad decisions all around.

I stumbled upon this interesting old article from Kotaku.

https://kotaku.com/moe-nazi-vehicle-girls-coming-to-xbox-360-5308855

Here we have an article about a game featuring the two things SJWs hate the most, Nazis and anime breasts, just imagine the pearl clutching and hysterics that would be in this article if it was published today and yet somehow an entire article on fucking Kotaku of all places goes without it.

If ever you needed an example of how much things have changed for the worse since 2009, this is it.

There is also the side effect of having too many niche games getting localized while the mainstream stuff in Japan was getting brought over. So long as there was some content control, journalists will treat this is as something that probably will never get localized and seen as this "look at this weird stuff from Japan"

But the problem was the fanbase took the articles extremely negatively and the journalists start biting back against the backlash and combined with an aging and cynical critic base is where get ourselves into where you got a bunch of outta high school kids who got exposed to such stuff and believes in the crazy conspiracies and a bunch of burnt out critics who simply won't budge.

Considering that Microsoft just banned Galgun from ever appearing, they'd probably cancel this game as well.
