Streamers getting political will no devolve into certain games being for Political Group A and other games being for political Group B.

If you stream Game Y during Media Backed Important World Event that's a bad thing and you're part of Group B

If you stream game X during Media Backed Important World Event you're a good boy who is part of Group A

It's the usual SJW bullshit, whoever is doing it or why and whether or not these are SJWs.

Basically, you get a dozen or so tweets and literally one of them is someone saying "neck yourself." Now it's "hundreds of death threats."

They showed the receipts and if you put the tweets in the search engine you can find the usual suspect screeching like retards in old ass accounts full of TDS and white man bad

If only they put more effort into their game instead of having it be a load of text boxes with no gameplay.

Honestly it does not bode well and really does come off as a marketing ploy.
 
I can't tell if the receipts are real, but no matter who's doing it is fucking weird. If it is fake, the strategy is working because the top steam reviews are talking about "I bough this game because the developers and publishers stood up to the cultural marxist who police boobs."

Whatevers going on, I can believe it. Its not like the indie gaming scene isn't full of vindictive tards and teens, but there's developers smart enough to realize they can get a loyal fanbase from such a stunt. This would be hilarious if the later. Its a bit like the console wars strategy of having your customers on a team to bully the other guy to build trust and loyalty, except everyones an adult and not a dumbass kid teen or stoner.

Lastly, I think games won't become super political. Its like books and movies: the most popular ones aren't really associated with either side unless it takes a hard stance within the text against something. Games are the ultimate ball juggling act: you have to have decent visuals, decent music, and decent gameplay built on top of a strong-ish base of coding. They're the easiest to fuck up out of most media because they require so many people to get the damn thing off the ground in the first place. It'll be a wonder to find a game that really resonates with people politically since too much has to be good, closest I can think of as successes are Bioshock 1 and various Metal Gears. Itchio keeps pushing various "funch pascist" games but only the twitter echo chamber gives a shit because its too niche of appeal.

sex has been selling for literally millennia, this isn't anything new or extraordinary.

in the end it's marketing, and if it works for them so be it. cancel culture and twitter tards are cancer through and through, might as well make use of them, fake or not. that shit works both ways.

I can believe this is true and false at the same time.

Fake outrage to drive sales has been a thing since GTA, but Hatred would be the better recent example. It's made a shit ton of money after every self righteous tard in gaming tried to take it down.

You have that ResetEra tard who will manually create hundreds of metacritic accounts and write an equal amount of fake reviews because his favourite character didn't get the ending he wanted. Most of the SJW side is still seething about GamerGate six years after the fact. Add in "back channelling" and I can believe that a fairly niche publisher would be weathering a focused harassment campaign.


As I and others have predicted, once the moralist left is gone, the moralist right will pick up their tricks and use them to the same ends, albeit with a different motive. "Protecting the children" instead of "protecting the women", "god" instead of "society", "degenerate" instead of "misogynist". This is why groups that seem to be moral opposites team up so often, or are confused for one another.

The references to children, "men pretending to be women", and "pornified women" in those "threats" make me think this could be a right wing campaign, though it's hard to tell for sure. Now I have to go to the shops and get some more inverted commas.

So far, most anti sjws are simple people, give them tits, blood and sexual content and they are good. Meanwhile the fuck drumpf crowd can't decide if they want some indie thinkpiece with next to no gameplay becuase we don't use the word fun when making games, or willing to put up with the capitalist system if it delivers a woke experience

More like a mecha defense tower game with superb plot or so i have heard i refuse to see gameplay because i want to play it myself, have not missed a vanillaware games since princess crown because its not translated, but several journos declared the best game of the year and it would have won more if they were not busy shilling for TLOU2 and CP2077
