Many outlets reported on it, but the news broke well before any actual article was written. So this translates into less ad revenue for them.

By the time they started the dude was already fired.

Now ideally this would have been a situation to warrant further investigation, since them being journalists it's part of their job. But there's been no follow up on the situation.
What rock have you been hiding under?!

同じくCERO CなのでPS4ではできなかった〇れたり〇れたりする表現が加わることはなさそう?
Problem is that the CERO rating seems to be the same as the PS version (C rating meaning 15+ ) while SK games and the fanservice Neptunia titles were rated a D (17+) prior to SIE's changes. So the devs may not bother add things that weren't allowed on Playstation during the initial development of the crossover game.

It really does stand that developing your game on Playstation as the primary platform can harm releases on other platforms, due of the unwritten censorship rules from SIE

Can this thread just be renamed to "Debate Marissa Moira Thread" subtitile "and also culture wars general"?

Neptunia games have long been made for western audiences and IF themselves changed their standards in 2016, this game was developed by Compile Heart and not IF or Marvelous. So it's not even the same set of standards that previous games were made from.

There's really nothing missing or stuff that wouldn't be out of place compared to other titles. You have shit like the peach balancing and a bunch of other fan service shit. But the fact is the core of the game is centered around a bunch of tedious missions that are just cut and pasted from each other. That major flaw wouldn't be effected by any type of censorship standard, it's just flat out bad game design.

These games also wouldn't exist without the limited exclusivity deals that have been made, no other company stepped up to the plate to offer an alternative. So both nintendo and microsoft didn't even do a counter offer.

Any and all differences are more to do with the different teams developing the game and nothing really to do with the censorship policy. With the news of Aniplex being worked into game development for the Fate series(which Marvelous is also involved in), it's really not looking like Sony's policy has gotten harsher.

If you want a fair comparison compare Neptunia 1 for the PS3 with Neptunia Reverse for the PS5, they're both the same game and Reverse was made with a Sony exclusivity deal. They're also both rated T by the ESRB.

First off Ashley Graham is from Resident Evil 4 and Ashely Williams is from Mass Effect. Also those last two entries make me hate humanity.

Do you even read the article?
Literally nothing was talking about Sony's censorship. Just percentage traffic of each console usage to search thing on Pornhub, PS happens to be the most. Then the second doesn't even saying those search was on consoles only, it's video game characters general, so the results is mix platforms and none of it has characters of your typical Japanese coomer games' characters.

Borderlands: Tiny Tina, sure over 18 or is it barely 18 (presumed to be 20) in Borderlands 3? Just like how Randy Pitchford USB porn has barely 18 girl?

If anything this graph confirms Furries/Zoophiles (with Pokemon, Bowser and Argonian Skyrim) are more degenerate than Lolifags. Or is it any kind of child porn or contents similar to it being purged out of Pornhub? So like you statement about lolifags is very lame considering those two reasons.
But you have an anime avatar of a degenerate character, I wonder if you aren't projecting? Considering you even had Quetzal from Dragon Maid thirsting over a shota name is Shouta (how creative).

I don't like personal attack, but please tell me this.
For someone like you disliking or hating on coomers that much (more specifically coomers kind of game), then why are you have a couple of moments wanting to tell your power level? It's not much, but it's strange that it happens twice while I was lurking around.
Itadaki Seiki, she's a vampire succubus thing that finds out drinking semen is better than blood.

Literally every girl in the party is some form of tomboy. The beach costumes even reflect this.
Truly I'll never ever able to notice any "anime" character personalities or traits without looking at their swimsuit.

Since this thread and Sony one aren't even that different anymore. I have some more to say.
I forgot these things about Playstation censorship.

Life is Tumblr 2 has nudity (IMDB description page so SFW), but I'm not sure if Sony actually bother to do anything about it.
Meanwhile, DmC5 had the censorship (Trish nudity) removed on PS4 after people called out, except for European region for some reasons. DmC characters don't even on that Pornhub top search.

TL;DW below: censorship of risque contents on Playstation, but not on Nintendo and PC version. Yes yada yada, coomers games are bad.

To counter point, Japan does their own nudity censorship (explicit nudity, naked breasts in this case) to Metro while it's uncensored on Western. So fair and square right?

About Japanese game being more "Westernized" again, sorry about MonHun example again.
These were at 2020, when total sales reached 16.4 million world wide in Sep. In before, why should I trust a random on internet?
M1.png M2.png
Links for images: 1, 2 and 3.
MonHun World USA Sony sales doesn't even come close to Japan. But hey if you combine USA and EU, totally western, then their total sales is higher than Japan.
Iceborne total sales PC is 2450k, which is even less than Sony JP. Truly Japanese are becoming Westaboos.

M3.png
Cursed the weebs and Japanese with their waifuist lifestyle.
Damn the Westernized business plan, selling bunch of emotes and cosmetics as small DLCs. Otherwise, they won't buy our damn lootboxes because our games aren't F2P.

Considering Nintendo shits, I'm sure consoomers love their Amiibos.

I don't like degeneracy either and I'm sure most people here on Kiwifarms don't either. But I understand supply - demand If I don't like it, I'll walk away. Unlike current days progressive asking you to consume their products and values, then dissing on you if you choose not to.
Worse is one side can be openly degenerate and still get praised because they are now in Alphabet group, like my post here in the troons thread.

Coomers game has horrible gameplay mechanic, sure. But that point of argument is nowhere near to most people argument about biased of Western enforcing censorship to Japanese games while Western games are fine.

I love how you keep using Westernized as argument for Japanese games, but in the end it's more like some Japanese games beside Nintendo shit, are more willing to go for PC platform to expand audiences and other kind of gameplay quality of life.

@Hammr

You're misunderstanding and making a bunch of assumptions, it's not that the Japanese are becoming westaboos it's that gameplay mechanics and systems that are popular in the west make their way back over there to Japan and the developers then implement them for releases in western nations and in turn do better. It's literally the same mentality that Japanese companies like Toyota was built upon when it came to cars. The games reach a wider audience and are not limited to or solely relying on Japan itself who has a very small console market because the vast majority of the of the market is consists of mobile games. The US Market is vastly more competitive than the Japanese market which means many genres have to try harder with making their gameplay systems stand out. This isn't also taking into account that the Japanese economy has been heavily tied to the US Economy since post world war 2 just in general.

I mean when Dragon Quest is targeting the west for 12 that's really saying something in terms of the direction and future of RPGs. I mean hell after decades of trying the Tales of series finally made a real imprint in the western market.

This isn't true, what triggered Sony's censorship policy to begin with was a western game because it was the same developer that Steam and Nintendo later censored and blocked off their platform. It was Super Seducer. Sony's censorship policy was attributed to having under aged characters be shown in compromising situations, which is why Doki Doki (another western game) got that one weird change. The policy wasn't specific towards Japanese games.

I used to be against censorship but now I think games should be censored more so they stop breeding autistic racist neckbeards.

That Super Seducer games get what they deserve, the creator himself seems a pretty exceptional kind. I don't see the specific news piece that Sony censorship has to made for that game then applies for all other games. I'd to see the actual news link of it. Also Super Seducer features adult real human beings not minors.

Sony starts their own censorship rules because of #Metoo movement and livestreaming (Wall Street so it's not free, but here's a re-report from Business insider, kinda NSFW with DOA swimsuit pictures on top).

Wall Street report was in 2019, Sony blocks the first Super Seducer in 2018. If this your proof how it starts, then good job.

At this point about censorship thing, I don't really care, I understand they as business do whatever it takes to sell more. Especially in these days, be more political correct is good. Since usually censorship doesn't affect on gameplay, but exceptional localization translation is something I can't give a pass.

I wish I could find any factual reasons for somehow DQ11 doubling the sales of previous best series in NA. Meanwhile, NA release is like a year late, doesn't specify sales on which platforms which I could find. Is there anything saying about somehow DQ11 is more Western friendlies than previous ones? And even total sales on each specific region for its success which translates into DQ12 should be more Westernized?

To me, if the game already has big brand name and is available on more platforms, which boosts more sales.
Since gaming has becoming way more mainstream back then, like Fortnite for example. DQ9 was in 2009-10 and only available on NDS. While DQ11 was in 2017-18, way much later and available on way more platforms.
The only dumb thing is how SE handles PC port of the game.

Unless somehow you mean DQ12 getting Westernized because of being more adult, combat revamped and simultaneous release. Again this is "Westernized" and "Wider audience" approach, at this point agree to disagree.
Then considering how SE changes all of their recent FF titles to be more actionish lately, I have feeling they might be wanting to try this with DQ. Since tactical JRPG combat is like decades old for current gaming generation.

They clarified that DQ12 would still be turn based, but closer to something that would be sped up with less down time. It's very unlikely that they would have it mirror final fantasy because even Sega decided to Split Yakuza and Judgement to two different gameplay systems so they're not directly occupying each other's space.

Here's the thing for super seducer

The #Metoo statement was made by the CEO of Sony group in Japan, it wasn't made by Jim Ryan or anyone relating to the US branches. Super Seducer was blocked around the same time Sony Group was getting a new CEO in 2018 and it was Japan who initiated these sweeping changes of closing underperforming studios and merging different branches for large initiatives. It's why they've made large grabs like Crunchyroll and starting TV series being based on games and then tying them to Playstation. It's to basically have everything Sony related just come through playstation in some fashion. It's been long hinted that the new tiers of PS+ will reflect this by having anime streaming be tied to a tier. It's why they're putting a ton of stuff into IP growth which just happened to be most of their western IPs, but they're also funding anime series based on games for 2022 that now have exclusivity deals for playstation 4 and playstation 5. They're in the process of changing how their mobile games division is run so it can perform better globally as well, Aniplex is now part of mobile game development.

People like to blame Jim Ryan but he's not a Michael Eisner or some type of ideolog, he's just really doing what his superiors are telling him to do. He's just a Yes Man.

Here's Yoshida's corporate summery
He's been pretty much the catalyst behind everything at Sony. It's got very little to do with California or anyone over there on that end.

Social Justice stuff at this point is baked into the global corporate system and it's stuff every company has to work around. It's why even Nintendo has started multiple diversity initiatives. The US dollar is the world reserve currency and it's what every company runs on.

Rather than write 10 pages on how everything is interconnected here's a QRD shitpost that sums it up
QRD.png

It's just a different flavor of what's already existed for decades at this point, they always wind up morphing into something else given enough time, it's not anything to really be concerned about. Corporate beurocracy will still be corporate beurocracy at the end of the day.

There is nothing in that article saying how Sony started doing anything about censorship policy at that time, beside the whole not going to publish that game on their platform.

The whole ESG, I've read a few pages back, which is I already said in my previous post that it's considered to be good for companies being political correct in current days. Yoshida took the role as CEO changes nothing with big companies following that ESG to satisfied their biggest supporters aka shareholders. I fully well aware the Corporate thing, over the time, I despise it more. Corporate will do whatever it takes to have biggest portion in market while looking as a "good and caring entity".

In these days, it gets so tiresome, which imho if someone likes to support woke or degenerate stuffs, gachas or lootboxes, remastered/remakes whatever. Go ahead buy and support it if they have money to spend because the stuffs give them some form of joy/happiness. Be mindful of social interaction, the Internet has ruined some people common sense of this.
Just don't dissing others for not supporting certain products as some kind of scumbags or demanding products/hobbies have to change to suit their needs in expense of others, especially old dedicated customers.
Most importantly, don't blame the other sides for failure of new product because of changes.

The censorship policy wasn't formalized until months later there was a good amount of secrecy, but Yoshida was the one who tried to tie to #Metoo with a formal announcement. 2018 was the same year their CEO changed from Kaz to Yoshida.
Burst ReNewal was probably the first formal implementation, but Super Seducer is patient zero.

Kaz took a shitload of hate up until the end because of the PS3. So that also strikes me as strange that they would decide to pick Ryan as the whipping boy instead of his successor.

Mind you the amount of Japanese media that Sony owns as whole is huge, they also have a very large mobile division over there.

All these large multibranch operations are Yoshida's signature. I mean the censorship policy exists in some form but I don't think it's a main focus at this point. He's more interested in spreading Japanese media globally. Both Senran Kagura and Neptunia still have exclusivity deals with Sony with the next neptunia game in 2022 announced this week to be a playtation exclusive.

That's what I've been trying to get across it's nothing to do with their western offices or their western leadership, they're following what the Japanese parent company is telling them to do.

That's why I said those clickbait articles saying they need the Japanese in charge are getting their wish. It's pretty much been Yosihida who's initiated all of this but at this point they really have not gotten burned on really anything. Yes they closed Japan studio because it was underperforming but they have like a dozen other mobile game studios in japan who are doing fine. They're now taking the mobile games and having them be put under Aniplex and Aniplex itself is also going to eventually be daisychained into Playstation somehow. You can see the massive signboards and ads that they buy over in Japan advertising Genshin and other freemium stuff, each one has a PS4 and PS5 label attached to it as well for cross promotion since Playstation makes up a large portion of Genshin's base.

The future of the PS5 really can't be said for certain because demand is there and games are coming for the system but hardware is hard to acquire. And the weird thing about the Japanese market is that they still go by % sold and not total number and that too applies with hardware sales. But on average it takes 3 years to get a Playstation system to significant strength with game releases so the first year or two all that really matters is a foothold because a single release can double or triple the number of systems sold within a short time.

If it was incredibly bad and Sony was being sent into panic mode they would be throwing way more money around, stuff like Demon's Souls was a product of this. However in this isntance Yopshida is growing a mega multimedia network and is going to other companies and showing them that if they go with Sony their IPs get more exposure just in general. So this is why even smaller devs like Compile heart, Idea Factory, and Marvelous are still signing exclusivity deals. Their games get part of their development cost covered and they reach into other markets and if they want anime-tie ins and merch they already have avenues open with sony who has a very controlling stake in japanese animation distribution.

This is a very very long term plan especially with the movie and TV tie-ins for both live action and animated.

The western stuff is currently getting treatment because it had the most success out of all their previous IPs, but it's not looking like it's going to be like that forever. They're wanting to bank on their anime properties which has a pretty big crossover with games in terms of audience demographics internationally.

And that's starting to get pozzed to appease ESG scores and plus artists are just faggots like that.
