Finally the long nightmare of online trophies and grinding for ranks for fighting games may be at an end.

Everything will go back to primarily local/co-op since the e-sports allure will be gone. I can play the genre again.

Also smash players will be banished back to their shame hovel islands unable to interact with the population at large. Feminism finally did something good for once.
 
I hope esports dies completely. Competitive gaming brought normies and along with them sjws and autistic fandom types.

The amazing thing about the EVO shit is that this is entirely a beast of their own making. They chose to ignore it and keep their proverbial heads down when this tardery was hitting other fields, convinced that if they just buckled down it would blow over and somehow ignore the obvious targets, like the wave of stupidity that's hit every other field could never happen there.

They chose to ignore the wolves in their own midst. They chose to do nothing about it when this shit was going on in real time all around them. Yes, idiots, I'm sure the fact that the speedrunning community is now increasingly overrun with troons and MK having an Autistic furry that should have served as the international sign for "there's trouble brewing here" at events means that you'll be completely safe. You don't need to watch your behavior or be leery of thottery in your community at all. You're bulletproof.

The crazy part is that because of their own stupidity, even if these allegations are outright bullshit, and I'm willing to believe at least a few cases of them are, as pursuant to the ProJared Rule, the sheer volume of this shit happening now is going to have lasting ramifications, and not all of them will be beneficial. While watching EVO go down in flames brings a twinge of joy to this long-dead heart, this will not be the end and they will continue to go after people in wider, increasingly-unjustifiable circles.

Do you ever see an end to this shit coming? What's the endgame? Everything completely sanitized and overrun by crazy people who don't give a shit about the hobby?

All that needs to happen is Streaming Fodder gets segregated to it's own asylum. That way Streaming and Online only games are in their quarantine zone and the inmates will only cannibalize each other.

I don't think they even have an idea what their endgame is and are mainly just caught up in the wider overall zeitgeist of the Woke Left at this point.

I'm not sure if we'll go back to a full crash where vidya is seen solely as "only liked by kids and filthy nerds" since the industry has gotten so big as a whole. Even with a crash and a decline in nerd culture, I don't think vidya will fully go back to the hyper-stigmatized hobby it was in the pre-PS3/Xbox 360/Wii era of gaming let alone a full-on "1983 shall commence again!" video game industry crash.

But I could see a crash in e-sports and the trend of online-only gaming getting more or less quarantined into its own little niche like mobile gaming is, especially if we see more AAA companies take more major losses.

Games have a lifespan, so it seems so risky to try and make something so big out of them. Overwatch got pushed really hard and was really popular, but I don't even hear people talk about it anymore.

True, but the wider hobby of video games as a whole is here to stay as a mainstream or at the very least semi-mainstream thing even if specific games or genres are just overblown fads.

There is no endgame, and never has been. If you ask a wokescold to explain when racism would be ended, they will often struggle for an answer, same as why their treatment of minority dissenters is so telling: These clowns are no different than the moral majority faggots of the 1990s, in that they want their sacred cows to remain sacrosanct while everything else is fair game. Besmirch Christians and they'll say nothing; make an oblique reference to the transgender suicide rate and they'll come for your fucking heads. They have no loyalty beyond their ideology and their numbers are not enough to make them worth marketing to. Any company knowingly embracing wokeness in the current climate in the aftermath of how many franchises its destroyed deserves their fate.

Right now it's high on the fumes of its fellow faux-revolutionary movements from shit IRL, and since the wokescolds on Twitter have a need to collect metaphorical scalps. It's no one's fault but those involved in EVO that they didn't clean house sooner since basically everywhere else in gaming already got hit by this shit and while any appearance of impropriety could be turned into a tipping point the damage could have been severely mitigated if they had their shit together. Instead they cozied up to the outrage mob, hoping to appease it, and that has literally never fucking worked, ever.

Their main goal, when this shit started, was to do to gaming what they did to comics: become the gatekeepers of the industry and use that to force their shit on everyone else. Unfortunately for them, that shit was never going to happen. Not only did their little plan get exposed way before it was even remotely ready for the field, and not only are the people involved blisteringly incompetent and only capable of maintaining their narratives if they have no outside commentary whatsoever, but gaming as a whole is too fucking big. They may be able to secure a dominating force on one platform or another but that shit only works if there aren't alternatives and there always fucking are, with more coming all the time.

I just hate seeing these fuckers gain even more power, I'd hoped that after 5-6 years of this shit that it would finally wane but the last 3 weeks have sent this shit into overdrive. Now the General Lee and a popular design for Japanese race cars are banned from Forza and MeToo has risen from it's grave.
