Yeah Sony's policy was primarily aimed with getting rid of stuff that depicted minors in compromising situations with sex and violence.

This really isn't surprising. But there are a bunch of caveats that are allowed.

Say for example you want to stick a baby in a rocket launcher and fire it, if it bounces against the wall like a rubber ball it's allowed, if it just leaves a burn mark or splatter on the impact site it's allowed, what isn't is if you see the infant's corpse and are able to interact with it in some meaningful way.

That being said the face cutting scene in context is a fucking fake out dream because they forgot to put the scary shit in a horror game and tried to salvage the narrative by going M.Night Shamalamadingdong on it with an attempted twist. Cutting a little girls face off and wearing it was something that was added late stage.

The only thing I found shocking was that it's the incorrect way to cut someone's face off, you can watch numerous mexican cartel videos to show you the right way, it's a lot like filleting a fish. Also wearing it is stupid, any type of flesh mask has to be cleaned and tanned because you're going to have to deal with decay and congealed blood. That and there's numerious points of failure for something like that, bodies decay real quick and that shit would be falling apart like a pizza losing it's layer of cheese. The points of speration tend to happen around the eye sockets and nose and the face mask would effectively be broken in two.

Lol Soynys have no idea what kind of content is on their platform if this is what disgusts them.
>hostel and saw are whole franchises built around gore porn
this is fine
>polygon human gets it's polygon face cut off
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SONY PROTECT ME WAAAAAAH

(I get this is a bit disingenuous since most people don't care or oppose it, but it's a matter of principal).

If they made her an adult nobody would have had a problem with her face getting Nicolas Caged.

There's a ton of rules relating to child death when it comes to CERO/ESRB/PEGI to begin with, Tales of Berseria's opening had to be changed due to PEGI and they didn't want to have to redo the original opening for America and redub it, so the whole west got the European altered opening.

And these are long standing rules too, it's why you couldn't murder the little shits in Skyrim. More than likely you're probably going to see other territories remove the scene as well, because even stuff like TLOU 2's sex scene while it featured two adults, still got removed in many regional versions. Edgy bois are going to edgy so they're kind of getting the reaction that they want, but it doesn't really translate into a better game. People are just going to watch the scene and maybe it will be free advertising. But it's not all that much different from stuff like Maid of Sker when it comes to gameplay.

Everything has been pretty much based around Twitch exposure when it comes to content supervision rules. Because streaming services are a major way to advertise.

shut up Marissa Moira

Fictional media isn't real. That's all there is to say in the end.
Gory torture scenes do make me uncomfortable personally but I aint going to ask for them to be censored

Doesn't fucking matter, Twitch will still block a stream it if it looks realistic enough.

I can't even think of a time when fictional gore made me uncomfortable. But the issue isn't the gore it's more or less that they're depicting a child. Like I said, if it was an adult there wouldn't be an issue.

Edgy games being edgy just to be edgy has been a thing since the 90s at least.

You're right in that edgy content doesn't make a game good. Martha is Dead looks like yet another pretentious walking simulator straight out of 2015, so much so it's a surprise that Kotaku and Polygon writing puff pieces about the game "experience" while fucking the developers.

But edgy content also doesn't invalidate a game either.

You can't spin this as some kind Sony seal of quality, because this is a company that allows shit like Life of Black Tiger and Last of Us 2 on their console.

Blaming streaming services makes no sense either, unless you're implying that only Sony consoles can stream on Twitch. I'm not seeing the game on Twitch's list of banned games.

So far, the only people I've seen not okay with the game are Sony, and fanboys that try to defend Sony.

Life of Black Tiger has long been surpassed, smaller teams have made far more newer atrocities.

Streaming services are why they instituted the policies in the first place. The Japanese parent company insisted on it.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the policy was heavily influenced by the #MeToo movement and the rise of live streaming platforms:

Like I've said before the policy gets enacted when there are children depicted and can be interacted with, that's what always has triggered it. Be it sex or violence kids are always a no go zone. For adults it's fine.

The dead person getting her face cut in the video is not a minor in anyway. The girl, Martha was borned in 1923, yet this part in a diary of her twin sister (Giulia, main protag) in 1944, Martha was still alive.

I have yet to see a video game nowadays actually let you - the player do cruel stuffs to children in actual game design, not some NPC do that to children or mentioning of hands like Spec Ops the Line.

But at this point I'm wondering, what's with you and obsession with underage characters. You are starting to be more and more look like twitter pedophile polices who turns out to be pedo themselves. People joke about ani avatar users are pedo, please don't make it an actual fact. Or is it that you're moving goal post now to minors instead of general sex and violence applied to everyone?

Irrelevant to the point of censorship. You don't even talk why it should be censored considering you mention how silly the whole face cutting is. This is just padding words for your "essay assignment". You talk about context, but it seems you don't even consider Martha's age in this specific context.

The article talks about Sony policy censorship for the sake of young people and children. And also the whole point of previous many pages ago about Sony starting policy with your imagination with Super Seducer being patient zero.

I also took the liberty of ripping the censored scene myself so you can take a look for yourself, though we don't exactly know what parts are going to be censored including the beginning (which i decided to leave out as it was mostly just a camera pan of the scenery with blood).
Martha is Dead Censored Scene.mp4
Oh no. A horror game has graphic violence. I am litcherally shaking rn. Isn't not allowing child killing in games a fairly new thing? Drakengard had a whole level where you kill kids. Deus Ex allowed you to blow kids up. It wasn't common, but the ESRB didn't really care until the 7th generation. PEGI and Germany cared enough to make Fallout 2 a bigger hassle and I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream unbeatable.

I'm saying that underaged characters were what triggered the policy nearly every single time. I linked that article because it mentioned the streaming services as being a main reason for why they made such a policy in the first place.

Senran kagura, Labyrinth, All the visual novels, that's always been the connecting part and what they've shared in common. It's what always makes it rear it's head is underaged characters in compromising situations. It's also why games with similar situations with adults get a pass. The Mortal Kombat fatalities are just as graphic but they all remain untouched. That's why I said that stuff with kids is a no-go.

There's no written guidelines, but none of these censorship policies for Valve, Microsoft, or Sony have written guidelines. Because that's as an intended mechanism to stop people from working outside the rules in bad faith.

Here's the main part on why
The new guidelines were inspired by two factors. First, the #MeToo movement has made executives more concerned about the company's reputation if it hosts and promotes content that sexually objectifies women. Second, the advent of video and streaming services like Twitch and YouTube mean it's much easier for games from one region to get attention around the world. So even if the content in games is more socially acceptable in one region than another, there's no guarantee that releasing it only where it's acceptable would prevent the company's image from being tarnished in other markets.

Now sexy stuff has not be carte blanche banned
This is Relayer which is a product of Sony's Kadokawa dealings

But anything that would involve children in negative situations would garner way more negative attention. The policy was originally falsely stated to be specifically against Japanese developers but that was never true.

tormented souls also had a titty scene censored on ps5, and that was one redeeming thing about that game, so yeah, it's not just about deep artsy games

Nice moving goal post, you don't even remember what you just post earlier, literally the first sentence.

Firstly, that video gone viral, it was on Eurogamer youtube. I'm sure youtube at least have some age restriction if they want to, unlike twitch.
Secondly, I provided that info the character is an adult, not a minor. You keep saying it its minor, then it needed to be censored because of "bad faith", while adults are fine.
Then why you still haven't answer me why in this case, this censorship is corrected. Steam version stays the same, then why on Sony they have to change?
MiD.jpg

I'm not arguing about why the policy is being made or made by whom? You may say it's for the sake of streaming. Ok genius, then what if people just stream the Steam or Xbox version instead?

Game is rated M (17+) on ESRB page, same with TLuO2, so what does Sony try to achieve here? Apparently, Sony consumers aren't adults or a well adjusted ones, they need Soyny help.

I don't even mind that one. Nobody wants to watch some cuck fuck a grotesque behemoth of a tranny up the ass, especially not in that position. Shit's nasty, yo, just replace it with something comparatively harmless like scat porn.

Supposedly the devs themselves may have conveyed to others that it was a kid in the face skinning scene. Usually your game is assigned a representative or a similar point of contact when developing a game for Playstation. It may have happened on that level.
Martha Is Dead is a dark first-person psychological thriller, set in 1944 Italy, that blurs the lines between reality, superstition and the tragedy of war.

As conflict intensifies between German and Allied forces, the desecrated body of a woman is found drowned… Martha!

Martha is dead, and her twin sister Giulia, the young daughter of a German soldier, must alone deal with the acute trauma of loss and the fallout from her murder. The hunt for the truth is shrouded by mysterious folklore and the extreme horror of war that draws ever closer.
They're not even consistent in the write up on the steam page about the age. If it's an adult you would just write daughter but putting the word young before it usually means it's a minor, it's a very strange wording because they're twins and are the same age.

The youtube video not being censored really has no bearing on it at all. First it's an incomplete product at that point, it's an earlier build and the game is still unreleased. It's not an actual product you can buy yet. Steam, Microsoft, and Sony all have different guidelines, so they're not all the same with what they find acceptable.

Thirdly a game being rated by CERO/ESRB/PEGI do not denote the changes to the game themselves. TLOU2 had it's sex scene removed in regional versions and people did not know until they got to the part after the game was released in stores and it was just a fade to black with audio.

I was curious about how they would peel it off and what do you know, the camera quickly pans up before the rip and tear begins. It would have been cool if they didn't do that but it would also be a tremendous waste of money.
Nah. if I need my "horrors of war" itch scratched, I have the complete This War of Mine for that.
My goto is Earth Defense Force.

Wayforward caved ever so slightly.

They changed it to "RCG" and "Original" which I don't think is much better but whatever. The original tweet that caused this has been taken down as well.

I wish it was still up cause it was literally only so called translators and their groupies crying about it in the quote tweets. Anyone outside of that didn't find a single thing wrong cause why should they.

The literal translation is a machine translation. The only real difference seems to be what flavor of curse words do you want.

The one thing that really sticks out is that the 80's/90's style they're using for the game illustrations looks too modern to be authentic.

His avatar is also the main girl from Eromanga Sensei. Take that obsession of his as you will.

I love seeing these egotistical fuckwits seething. Get fucked, trannies.
They're literally afraid of losing their control on foreign media, as holier-than-thou and morally-righteous busy bodies that hate Japan.
Not to mention they're the bottom of the barrel in the world of translators, and the petty excuses they make about "literal translations" as awkward and impossible results, wouldn't lend them a seat in higher positions (anywhere beyond entertainment) .
