Btw, tips for new players:
1. Change the control schemr: R to reload, middle mouse for third weapon (hand augments), right click to interact.
2. Buy the life detection goggles and stealth suit, the former will make you immune to ambush, the latter will make you immune to snipers.

I doubt he actually intended it to be meaningless, he's just too scared that people will consider it shallow.
maybe. ironic distance is some artists' permanent defense mechanism. his response is very typical of ugly ironic artists. you just don't get it if you take issue that their work looks/sounds like a retarded demon made it.

I went back and replayed the first level for the first time in at least a month. How the fuck did I miss that obvious ladder up onto the roof to sneak into the bathroom and get a rifle that makes the entire level easy as pie? Great game.

Real pros play with the acid mortar and ammo gland.

NOBODY CAN HEAR YOU OVER THEIR SOUND OF THEIR COUGHING BLOOD!

Which one of you is this?

I did give this a 2nd chance because I am that kind of person. I still think the guns handle poorly. There's just no impact to them or at least most of them. Also, playing it for more than an hour was legit giving me a migraine. No joke.

So, I will still pass on this. Note that I do not think it's bad but I do not believe it's the 2nd coming or nearly as good as Dusk or Amid Evil.

After a while it made me want to play a bunch of doom wads, including Mock 2

So what was the point of the sniper in the mine level? My only guess is that it implies there are several versions of the main character walking around, some of them working for the targets.

No clue. You can't even shoot them as they aren't a standard NPC.

He's just there to build tension, I doubt there's any lore significance to it.

It's probably not an NPC at all. As far as I understand it's just your camera shifting to a different position while your hitbox stays behind. You can even drop the sniper rifle.

Codewise (I've used godot before) I assume it's just a camera instance that is activated upon entering a specific area (and deactivated upon your exit) and every frame it looks towards the player and it either fires based upon a delay or how fast you are moving (unsure).
When you say "drop the rifle", do you mean you can cause the NPC to drop it's weapon instead of your own? Very interesting if so.

It only fires when you pull the trigger yourself, I've spent like a minute prancing around and nothing happened otherwise. And yes, you drop the supposed NPC's sniper rifle. They will regain it if you reset their view so you could drown yourself in sniper rifles if you feel like it.

Remember seeing this game on steam and thinking it was one of those joke games that people play on streams because they aren't funny on their own. Colored me surprised when it turns out to be one of the most unique, compelling, and addictive games I've played in a while. Someone said that the harsh visual style is like a weird body mod that you have to get used to, I think that's a cool way to think about it.
