The only problems I've seen from both the PS4 and Switch versions of the game are the pretty noticeably long loading times. Hopefully it's better on PC but jeeze, almost a full 2 minutes in some cases and it's pretty obnoxious that you load in between menus as well.
Can confirm they exist on Xbox as well, was playing it on my buddy’s One X

Jesus seriously? I was mulling over getting it today but if it's legitimately that bad I'll wait a week or so until that's patched.

The amount of grinding it needs to unlock skins and characters sure does feel like they will implement monetisation later.

I’m fine with the CTR being difficult, it’s part of what made the PS1 game awesome, especially in that badass final boss at the end, but I and many others are noticing something that feel more like bugs or balance issues than usual late 90s PS1-era tough racing like AI mysteriously getting super close to you when you’re in first place at the end of the third lap or multiple AI mysteriously getting missiles all at the same time which more gives the impression that Activision rushed the game rather than Beenox intentionally making the game hard. Wouldn’t be out the realm of possibility since this game probably had less dev time than N Sane Trilogy

Yeah I tried playing it like Mario kart Wii where you hang back until the last lap and that's been working.

It's annoying as fuck but for the harder races it seems like what you need to do since the AI is too harsh in punishing success.

Wow, never knew the AI was this dumb. This kinda proves Activision rushed it

For some races it seems fine but for others it's just off.

I felt like there were massive difficulty spikes like a rollercoaster. You got a more stable level of difficulty playing other players. All the issues are more than likely tied to the CPU racers and not anything else. Courses felt fine in time trials and playing online none of the issue came up.

The coin grinding though can probably be negated if you use a hex editor.

And this is why i didn’t buy at launch. While sure, Itsuno actually kept his word and kept the MTXs of DMC5 non-intrusive 3 months later and you’re allowed to just unlock everything offline on patch 1.00, with CTR on the other hand you DO have to be online to use the pit stop and Activision has quite the history of shitty MTXs on properties they own (they don’t own Sekiro, they just publish it, kinda like CDPR and WB)

I loved a lot of what they did with the remake. It plays well online, it looks great, but it feels incomplete. They added all the stages from the second CTR game, but they didn't implement them in the story, or even copy CTR2's story mode. Each CTR2 stage was even given time trials and CTR token challenges, but there are no rewards or even indicators if you complete them. The challenges feel just tacked on, but the stages are still great.

The AI for the original game was pretty weird in that the characters ran on fixed paths and used items at certain points of the lap regardless if they hit an item box or not. The remake improved the AI tremendously by making them better avoid items and actually tougher on the harder difficulties.

The unlock feature feels like at one point microtransactions were considered, and I wouldn't be surprised if more skins and customization options are patched in with microtransactions. In the meantime, the way to unlock items is to earn coins from races, and is it me or does the game award you much more coins for coming in later positions than in first? I've usually been getting between 60-80 coins when I place first but 200+ when I don't even break the top three. But only sometimes. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Considering things take 2000+ coins to unlock, it feels grindy for the sake of lubing you up for microtransactions.

Also, they cut out the bandicoot trophy girls (except for Slide Colluseum projections). How am I supposed to turn my head and pretend I was never strangely attracted to them when I was 20 years younger? Plus, I really don't care at all for the CTR2 characters. Why didn't they include more interesting, recognizable Crash characters like N. Brio, Nina Cortex, Koala Kong or Komodo Mo? I may be nitpicking, but it's stuff that bothered me.

This remake is very well done in many regards, but it feels like a lot of stuff is unfinished, not thought out entirely, or just tacked on.

And yes, the loading times suck on the Switch. About 20~30 seconds before each race.

True, but the way they rubberband feels pretty fucky, like they didn’t know how to balance the 20yo mechanics and the modern ones. Maybe they can do what MK does where you can set custom difficulty on AI

I think the AI is a big enough issue that they'll address it in a patch. It's already been the #1 complaint next to coin grinding.

The girls are comming in a later event, but not as trophy girls but racers. they are planning to do seasons where new characters can be unlocked when you collect nitro in a cup and use that to unlock skins and characters. One of the later seasons will have Spyro in it as a racer.

Diffetence between issues and non-issues when it comes to CTR HD (in just my eyes, others may have differing views and are free to share them):

Issues that need to patched (in my eyes): The excessive Pit Stop token grind, NPCs randomly teleporting to lap 3’s finish line, enemies all randomly getting the same item at once and them all happening to aim for you, and unlockable items not unlocking despite you meeting unlock requirements in-game.

Non-issues that were most likely intentional on Beenox’s part: certain items being just as punishing as they were in CTR PS1, enemies being just as moderately punishing as they were in CTR PS1, bosses being harder than normal racers, and certain stages having just as many crazy turns and hazards as they did in CTR PS1.

These are just my opinions and anyone else is free to agree or disagree with them.

The trophy girls are also getting a slew of skins including their original outfits.

The old lady was very much looking forward to the game and is playing the piss out of it, but outside of helping her with the erm..relic races (essentially time trials)? I'm giving the rest a pass for now. Too many silly AI gimmicks for my taste.

Players will be able to purchase Wumpa Coins using real money.

im not really shocked too be honest.
Yeah, I’m kinda glad I DIDN’T buy CTR now. Sure, DMC5 managed to add MTXs without harming the in-game item drops, but Hideaki Itsuno has a much cleaner history than the “red dot sights cost money” crew over at Activsion.

Also unlike DMC5, this is a multiplayer-centric game that’ll receive constant updates (you can’t even unlock half of the game’s items offline, unlike DMC5), so VIRTUAL CURRENCY AHOY

i just hope they dont use it as an excuse to jack up the prices of their newer items. having to pay to play online is bullshit enough.
