Anna's Archive is one of the greatest information/backup websites on the internet. It makes available tons of books, research papers and a variety of other things - a few weeks ago it archived the whole of Spotify. Following the Spotify situation some of its domain names have been suspended, but it still works and is accessible via other domains.

It has now been put in a highly peculiar legal and existential situation that is similar to k-farm's long and storied hosting and deplatforming difficulties - Anna's Archive doesn't exist as a real company and is sort of a internet-only project. A US court has issued a judgement against it which is basically an "order" to remove large parts of its library. It doesn't seem likely that Anna's Archive will comply with this order and it is theorized that the order will be used to deplatform the website/project.

TLDR: This is a little similar to the UK government trying to enforce rules on the k-farms and 4chan, or the infamous copyright complaints that The Pirate Bay would receive back in the day - it raises really big technical and legal questions about sovereignty in the digital world. This specific case exists at the very boundary of internet freedom and will likely set a precedent and example of how other websites and projects like this are dealt with.

This is a highly pertinent situation relating to the non-mainstream internet. Anna's Archive is one of the greatest non-commercial, non-existent in real life, internet-only archives that stores huge amounts of human knowledge and makes it freely accessible. Although the project seems both organized and resilient, if it gets deplatformed or shuts down it will join the ranks of similar projects that failed like Oink's Pink Palace and what.cd (these were private bittorrent trackers that held massive archives of music that were incomprehensible in terms of scale and quality).

If you haven't checked out Anna's Archive already, make sure you do and consider supporting it however you want to. It is a fantastic resource of human knowledge and is comparable in scale to Wikipedia and YouTube and the Internet Archive.

In internet and technology news, things are changing in the world. Last year Amouranth was the victim of a home invasion from robbers seeking to steal the millions of dollars worth of bitcoin/cryptocurrency that she had publicly flaunted. Many people doubted the story was real but it was shown to have actually happened - now these "wrench attacks" are occurring at an alarming pace and the methods used have become increasingly violent.

The crypto industry was built upon people publicly flaunting their wealth with ridiculous NFTs and parties with cocaine and hookers and massive publicity - this has now turned crypto holders into targets. The attacks range from relatives being kidnapped for ransom in broad daylight to elaborate and lengthy torture including setting people on fire and chopping off people's fingers as well as the attackers impersonating police officers and increasingly elaborate and violent schemes.

Many of the attacks have occurred in France and it was found that some lady in the tax office was sharing information about crypto holders to criminals - the underlying theme and risk involved here is whenever you give your private information to anyone for KYC or age verification it can and will be sold, particularly for people involved with cryptocurrency.

The rate and nature of the attacks is unprecedented and unpredictable and seems to be a dark and depressing cloud that many people do not want to talk about because there is no easy way to defend against it.
