I think he was TRYING to start a Rippaverse hate post, but realized it wasn't going to work so he went back to hating on Comicsgate instead. At least THAT'S what I got out of it.

My first post was hating on Comicsgate. I also hate on Rippaverse. They both have major issues (pun so very intended). I was pivoting to get you off your rage-boner.

Rippaverse sells much better than any Kamala Khan comics, as she is a deeply unpopular engagement. The Rippaverse sales numbers should translate to engagement with the material. They aren't, because it's not about the stories, it's about politics.

I mean, relative to CG, sure.

Love him or hate him, his alternative thing fixed the single biggest persistent issue in CG, and they will NEVER forgive him for that.

I really feel like Eric July has felted FROG harder than anybody else in the history of ever, and I sometimes feel like the man does not get enough credit for that.

It doesn't mean you have to love the Rippaverse, but give the man his due when it's earned.

I figured. My reply wasn't so much a recrimination, as it was a statement.

One thing that's been disappointing about this thread for the past year or so has been the main focus on Zack despite Ethan having a meltdown over Eric July seemingly every single day.

I understand his content is turgid, and nobody wants to watch it (believe me... I don't want to watch it either), but I feel like his content speaks more to the sorry ass state of Comicsgate than Zack being a contrarian faggot about movies. I feel like July has REALLY buckbroken CG in general, and FROG in particular.

It's why I don't post in here so much anymore. Zack is a boring has-been with shit takes on movies, whereas Ethan, while also circling the drain, is still the nominal leader of the community this thread is about. I find Ethan's hateboner for July utterly fascinating.

Why are they doing this? Not just Zack, but also Ethan.

It's almost like they realize this Comicsgate shit isn't as lucrative as it once was, and they are looking to make nice with the mainstream.

You shouldn't really be hating on the Rippaverse at this point in time, it's not like people don't see the carping for what it really is anyway. If THIS place is able to see through the hating by now, then it's pretty obvious everywhere else can see through it now too.

Well, EVS finally realizing that after years of everyone else telling him that would be notable.

I actually went to the Comicsgate site for the first time, it struck me how dated (i.e. 2010's news blog format) and shameless it was, especially the various reviews for media. Mint Salad is the Nerdrotic of Comicsgate, apparently. I can't imagine it's bringing in DC Comics High-Profile Artist Money.

So yeah, I think he's trying to worm his way back into DC. A variety of other people who were supposedly gone forever have returned recently (i.e. Geoff Johns, while still continuing Ghost Machine), and he wants in. Especially because DC is rebounding a bit in sales and reception via Absolute and All In.

I hate in this day of age how people think that just because they don't like a certain brand that people who do are not real comic book readers, A BIGGER group of egocentrism I've never seen. I don't even care if I'm starting something on here by saying that, I'm TIRED of people saying that if they don't like something then no real reader ever will. HOW many times has that been debunked now? So why even bother saying it at this point? People say the same thing about Iconic comics all the time, and yet it's still there and still doing great, Rippaverse is no different "regardless of the script that people like to say about it"

Speaking of July HOW many times have people proven to everybody that REAL comic readers enjoy his products? I'm wondering why people even bother repeating that script after over 3 years straight of reviews that prove otherwise. That's why I say Egocentrism is the biggest problem in the industry today, because apparently if they can't like it nobody should.

True, I should've clarified that at one time, Johns was seen as permanently gone from DC to run the Ghost Machine imprint for Image. Johns and EVS had about the same chances of coming back to DC, with very different reasons. I could believe they'd try to bring EVS back, given other "cancelled" entertainers have been slowly and quietly creeping back into the mainstream.

But I could see EVS screwing that up with his social media before his first art assignment is done
