Not a very big fan of the Verso creature to be honest with you.
First off, can someone explain the killing his girlfriend bit? Is that postgame lore?
Verso had to lie the whole time otherwise nobody would've helped him. At the end of the day he just wanted to die even if it means the doom of the whole canvas. After Maelle's ending I don't blame the guy one bit.
I chose Verso's ending and I'll stand by it all day. Child Verso wanted to die from the very beginning of the game. Also Maelle is just an ipad addicted zoomer that doesn't want to lose her favorite vtubers.

Thinking on it more, I would die happy if someone made a 'Captain Sisko in Clair Obscur' like they do with these Sopranos edits:

Vero killed his girlfriend by not explaining to her or anyone that beating the paintress doesn't stop the gommage. But accelerates it.

Well fucking deserved. Screenshot_2025-05-27-14-01-18-045_org.adblockplus.browser-edit.webp

Maellechads stay winning
You WILL play the piano for eternity or until I get bored and you'll fucking like it. You WILL joke around with Monoco. You WILL get drunk with Sciel. You WILL fly around on Esquie. You WILL enjoy life.

I'm over YouTube faggots personally
In regards to this game. Yea, I played it and formed my own opinion, and my opinion is that it’s phenomenal and fun and had no political messaging whatsoever, which happens to be the overwhelmingly majority opinion.

Versofags unironically want this guy gone. I can't believe I'm sharing a forum with those "people"

I wonder who was Lune in the real world. Lady fucking HATED paint Verso
Nobody. She exists only in the painting. She hates Verso because he keeps lying to every about his intentions. He says "yeah, we'll save everyone" and the instant he can end all life he jumps on it so he can finally have peace.

I just started Act II and I don't want to read or say much about this game for now except 2 big things:

First, I'm really impressed by the music and overall sound design so far. Every "zone" or "dungeon" or whatever has multiple tracks, including its own battle theme which draws from the same core ideas as the main one but spun in a way that makes it appropriate for fighting. They went so far beyond what would be "adequate" for a game at this price, and I don't even like every track but damn. Sandfall are just mogging the competition with this OST.

Second, am I retarded or is this the highest level of effort anybody's put into character development for an RPG in a long time? Lots of well-made cutscenes, dialogue that is almost entirely free of current-year quipshit (so far), good voice acting and direction, and they're NOT asking fucking $80 for it.

I lied, 3 big things because I have to find something negative to say - my biggest complaint right now is the battle animations. Some of them just look a bit derpy, especially dodging because the characters just NYOOM back and forth like they're in a YTP video. Parrying often looks weird because of the disconnect between the enemy's line of motion and the characters just tweeling their weapons around. I think a different design approach could have avoided this, but it's whatever. It doesn't even come close to ruining the combat.

So far, great game and I'm relishing how much it shits on the competition.

I was struggling with this initially, as well as some early game enemies having odd attack timings. I had to jar myself away from focusing on the character animation and to start paying attention to the enemy models and the timing. Every attack, especially multi hit enemy attacks, usually follows a set cadence. Once you've fought something a few times (or in case of some bosses, many times) you can usually get the rhythm down. Most story bosses are pretty forgiving with missing dodges and parries, but the optional ones require you to be consistent. I can think of one Chromatic in particular who essentially gets unlimited turns until you parry him a few times and take advantage of break.

The unsung heroes of this production are the mocap team. The voice cast is outstanding and all did great work, but the work mocap put in to really sell the dialogue carries it. The characters express a lot through facial movement and body language. Esquie's english VA is actually responsible for the mocap of the three male main characters who took the voice role after his mocap work was finished.

I can't praise the game's soundtrack enough. Not only is it pleasant to listen to, but it's also thoroughly complex at a compositional level. I like some tracks more than others, but there's not a single track I can say annoyed me or I disliked. There's a good genre blend overall and has REALLY strong vocal sections.

Like you said, it's far beyond "adequate" for a game. It's 8 hours of fire by a guy who grew up listening to old video game soundtracks who thinks 80% of his own work is trash. We're fortunate Sandfall found this guy because most artists with that mindset spend their life endlessly tinkering with their work in pursuit of perfection, only to die before finishing for nobody to enjoy.
