But it derives from Verso's soul, being the thing who's existence keep the painting running. I don't think it's a stretch.

They said that Verso put a piece of his soul, because he liked that Canvas world in particular. That's why Aline chose that painting. Chroma is not related to his soul, at least, nothing I came upon suggested that.
The name itself, Chroma, is related to color. It makes sense that in a painting, in a Canvas world, color is it's essence. Since why you need "color" to influence the painting.
And think about what we use for currency and weapon upgrade material. Does it make more sense that they are the essence of that world or a nigger's soul piece?

The game explicitly use the term soul. It's a pretty strong implication that things within the painting has no soul, otherwise painting Verso would be equivalent in some original Verso (not to mention is will lead to a lot of implications considering painters can seemingly make everything in a painting).

I believe you're wrong.
First of all, Verso's original soul is the Young Boy we meet in our travels.
The Verso we encounter, is a painted version, the way Aline saw him. Even if they are created in this manner, they are real and have free will. Going against Aline's wishes, his creator, is proof of this.
In the end, it depends how you want to interpret Creator and Creation. There's some parallel between this story and Christianity. Are we, God's creation, not real?
On this point, there's no hard facts. The game itself plays with this topic and it's one, if not the main theme of it. It's all personal interpretation, like good art is supposed to evoke.

Play the fucking piano
To protect Lune's precious smile,
I would force a thousand Verso to play the fucking piano.
No fate is too severe for traitors!

The Dessendre family are a bunch of cunts to be quite honest. Don't paint shit if you're not prepared to deal with the burden of being a god.

Man, I liked Simon as a boss fight way more before he stood back up. What fucking asshole said he's not only allowed to steal shields, but he's allowed to perma kill party members?

Clea's the worst one of all. Helps blow up the wonderful world her little brother made and helped turn it into a nightmare realm. They spent their childhoods in there with the gestrals, even made themselves a casino to play in when they got a little older so they could keep having fun even after they outgrew parts of it. Seeing all the dead grandis alongside the humans in the forgotten battlefield made me pissed off. No wonder little boy Verso was tired of painting, fighting against the tide of ruin and death his father and sister were unleashing on their childhood friends.

For some reason I just remembered some French Canuck studio was originally gonna make an official Final Fantasy game but Square fucked them over. The pitch was more interesting than anything Square has made from XIII onwards, especially bootleg DMC with 16. It had space pirates and shit. The funniest thing being the codename was "project W", the codename for Expedition 33 was also "project W". That is one hell of a coinkidink.

Unfortunately this faggot is the only video I could find on it.

@Dumpster dived waifu throw some spoilers, bro.
Part of the fun in Simon's fight is not knowing what you're getting into and having to constantly go "THIS FUCKING NIGGER!"
I'll be honest.
Before my fight with him, I believe I saw a post of someone just mentioning this boss and that he's hard.
When I got to him and finished his first phase, I thought "hehe is this who people have issues with? lmao git gut noobs!"
Then, second phase started and I got raped.
After a couple of hours, I hit 3rd phase and I had to take a break because I was running out of slurs to throw at my screen.

Has there been any feigned outrage over the game's success or is everyone having too much fun figuring out how the hell to properly parry? I haven't heard or seen much of any which is a bit refreshing.

Being highly rated with a cast that's not exclusively white doesn't fit the narrative. Especially a cast that's fairly attractive on both sides without being "gratuitous."

None. Game managed to thread the needle on both left AND right sides of le kultur war, which is honestly impressive considering how easy it is to trigger both sides. Probably helps that it steers clear of anything that might resemble the real world and leaned hard into its Frenchness.

leaned hard into its Frenchness.
lol yeah it did. I actually left voices on French when I started. I don't know, it felt more true to the world. I took it off of French after finding the girl with the card skill. It suddenly became distracting for me because it looked like all the lip sync was off, like it was meant for the English dialogue. Maybe it was always bad and it finally caught up for me but switching it over to English cleared it all up.

Nooooo, don't force me to live in a world where I have a 10/10 hapa wife I can fuck daily, and where I can finally live my dream of being a musician.
I don't want this life. I don't want this life. I don't want this life.

I feel like putting points into anything defensive is pointless late game because everything basically one or two shots you.
It is. The existence of dodging and parrying is the only defense you need. Also the most powerful defensive pictos come with terrible drawbacks like not being able to heal or getting hit costing you AP.

As far as attributes go, yeah. Unless you really like a weapon that scales with defence, going for a weapon that scales with agility is better, since agility is one of the best attributes, if not the best.

But, investing into defensive options isn't bad. Having Shell+Greater Shell on you, Powerless on enemies and Enfeebling Mark really makes you survive some late game combos, without having to perfect parry everything.

This is one of those games, where if you want to build a certain way, you can, because you have a lot of available options.
I'm sure, at some point, some nigga will do a no parry/dodge run.

Most of the best weapons scale on vitality and agility anyways, so it works out.
