Ironically enough if this was Quake, they could maybe get away with this. Sure, the original Quake wasn't big on the story, but Quake 2 had some dialogue and Quake 4 was a borderline COD campaign worth of characters, story and cinematics. If they wanted to reboot the franchise with a Quake 1 paintjob but a Quake 4 method of storytelling, so be it, but trying to turn Doomguy into a superhero and Doom as a franchise into some modern day slop indistinguishable from the other games is retarded. They missed their big opportunity here, I mean wasn't Quake 1 remastered a few years back, with a brand new expansion pack as well? You had the excuse, and a brand new audience too.
