than the entire main cast be fucked for the rest of their very short lives and being executed
this isn't how AoT ended though, and the anime ending made that explicit by showing that Eldia/Paradis survived for tens of thousands of years and fell in an apocalyptic war.

manga ending was gay as hell though implying they made it only 1-2 generations before getting steamrolled.

The last chapter is too short and the way we got here was too disjointed. As is, if Part 2 only consisted of chapters 231 and 232 literally nothing changes. In order for this ending to work you'd need yo show off more of the new world (something like all 4 horsemen working for the government, Aki and Himeno raising Nayuta, Kobeni writing a popular tell all about her abusive home life, etc) It doesn't all have to be happy, but we absolutely needed more "where are they now" moments than we got.

Secondly, they needed Denji and Asa to at least be friends. Part 2 is entirely about their relationship, so just having them stare at each other isn't enough. Granted, having Denji save her social life by catching her when she falls is a nice touch, and having her be able to call out whatever remnant of pochita exists in Denji is sweet (and good sequel bait) but a few pages just isnt enough. This needed to be two chapters at least, one for Denji and one for Asa.

Firepunch had a ridiculous, abrupt, out there ending as well, but even compared to that this just sucks...

I didn't watch the anime after reading the manga. Why would I waste my time?

For both JJK and CSM feel like their writer just gave up and rushed an ending.
Again, I don't really think that's the case. The whole conflict of Part 2 was people telling Denji to Not Chainsawman when he wanted to Chainsawman. The culmination of this led to the death of Nayuta and the dogs, Yoru eventually rising to power, and Denji hellbent on doing anything to win screwing the world to an irreparable state. The common factor was always Pochita and from his POV, he saw himself as the problem. The very last thing Yoru says is that Devil's don't view things the way humans do and that's right before Pochita resets the universe. It's not really that abrupt and it's easy to see why Pochita thought he was the problem.

Denji gets another chance to make a new life for himself without the burden and problems that come with being Chainsawman, and from what we see in the final chapter-he'll be fine. Even if he has only one testicle. (I think it's insinuated he won't die of a heart disease either...)

It doesn't all have to be happy, but we absolutely needed more "where are they now" moments than we got.
That's why I said, I don't think he's done. I think Fujimoto wrote it this way so that if he wanted to come back to it, he could. I still think Part 3 will happen someday. Maybe not for a long time, but it probably will.

Do we really need more than just a few panels of Asa and Denji? I think what we got was enough to know someday they'll probably be a couple. I know you guys seem to want more closure, but it's pretty clear he left it open ended just in case.

Maybe it's because I'm getting older but more and more I'm starting to appreciate a happy ending.

There's so much evil in the real world that endlessly nihilistic, cynical, and bleak fiction isn't that appealing anymore.

I assumed lack of Aki means that the Gun Devil never wiped out his family, so he’s off being an office worker or something.

Following this logic, Kobeni is now a prostitute.
Yeah, but knowing her luck, she probably got pregnant her first time out, had a breakdown, and the guy felt so guilty about her reaction he married her and now works a grueling 9-5 to take care of his girlfailure of a wife and kid.

...yeah? Like I said, part 2 is entirely about the two of them and the last 2 chapters just... aren't. It doesn't resolve anything between them. In fact it undoes some resolutions. Even by your own admission, it at best is just setting up a holding pattern. If it was truly a good ending, then you wouldn't be talking about a hypothetical part 3 at all.

But who knows, maybe we really will get chainsawman modulo in a year. And maybe like modulo that will have an unsatisfying ending too. But for what exists in the here and now, I'll double down: if Part 2 only consisted of chapters 231 and 232, nothing would've changed. The rest is wasted potential. The potential devil wins yet again.

Honestly, I do feel like I would have shit all over this ending if I were younger. Now, for some reason after all the dust is settled I appreciate the absolute roller coaster he sent us on only to set up a patently absurd happily ever after non-ending. It just works for reasons I can't fully articulate.

I still think his comments about starving children living in half-pipes were pretty outrageous.
