Fujimoto really wanted to anger the smallest amount of people possible so he can move on, he wrote himself into a narrative mess in Part 2 with so many plotlines that went nowhere so you just retcon everything, how embarrassing to be a Part 2 defender.

The "and they lived happily ever after" ending really feels like AU fanfiction, I can't believe this is canon. Just completely ran out of juice and didn't feel like explaining anything.

I have to steel my dignity and not cloud my judgement because of the Power fanservice, even though I love her very much, the plot is complete ass. No Aki or Reze though, why?
It truly has been a Big Lebowski.

BRO WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT DEWD! :lossmanjack: IT JUST CUTS OFF!!

Ok but seriously what the fuck. Fujimoto just peaced out mid climax. So much shit left unresolved. Why is Nayuta Makima now? Why would a Makima-like figure even exist in that way now that Chainsaw Devil doesn't exist as her obsession? Where's my bro Aki???

This is so bad and nonsensical I'm tempted to cope that it's all a delusion triggered by a devil. Seriously what the fuck. We just do a world reset and forget about giving Yoru and Asa a good payoff? Just poof, that entire dynamic gone.

I mean, this was already off the rails for a long while, so it was going to be difficult to get the story back on track to a satisfying conclusion, but damn. This is one for the books of bad endings. Makes Isayama look like a genius in comparison.

I hate and love this chapter.
As an ending it fucking sucks and I hate it, and Fujimoto has lost it.
But the chapter was really cute, and made me tear up.

Pochita was erased but chainsaws still exist, so that something to think about I guess.

IT JUST CUTS OFF!!
I like how you could insert the last two chapters at literally any point in Part 2. Nothing before it even amounts to anything.
Fascinating how all of part 2 was anti-fanservice to the extreme, killing off characters with little buildup or payoff, going backwards in character development to make them act like idiots, tons of introduced and dropped plotlines, and you'd think it's all building up to something, but nope. Just wheel out fanservice ultra deluxe with a dose of Part 1 nostalgia bait for the ending. There really wasn't a plan huh.

In some way I appreciate the grift, it's basically the most happy ending you could conceive of to the series, but it is done in a way that cucks out of any story resolution.

It's like OG Berserk ending with a pure shonen ending with Guts going back in time and giving Griffith a hug when they first meet so everyone is alive and happy.

Really smells like a cancelled manga ending lmao.

My theory is Fujimoto want to draw asa/denji sex chapter, got told off by the higher-ups, throws tantrum and self-cancel his manga.

Bravo Fujimoto!

What a piece of shit ...

The "I don't know how to finish this story, I don't care about it anymore, I've made a lot of money already and I don't want to spend 12 hours a day drawing manga" ending is becoming a recurring thing in jump comics lately huh? Same shit with JJK, but Chainsaw man was actually good at one point.

I was one to defend part 2, but midway Fujimoto started to spin wheels and I gave up, Chamsaw Man is great if you stop at part 1, as it was a great ending.

Quality of Jump comics took a dive in these last 5 years or so, from axing shit with potential (The Nito Exorcists) to champion medocrity like kagurabachi, feels like none of their hit series can have a proper ending without the author burning out and flat out giving up.

It is obvious that Fujimoto wants do 1 shots like Goodbye Eri and Look back, and fair enough, those were his strongest works, but that doesn't excuse the fucking middle finger we just got with this chapter.

Fuck you Fujimoto and see you in your next work.

He had a full two page lesbian sex scene in part 1. I don't buy it. He straight up said in interviews he wanted to make an ending like this all along. I still have my nitpicks with the execution(Denjisaw man deserved so much more screentime than he got) but the more I think it over the more I don't mind it. The real peak is the audience going utterly apeshit on social media. Fujimoto made chainsaw man into the greatest 24 hour op in existence and I can't help but just roll with it.

Now all I have to do to start a fight is go into a room of weebs and say that Chainsaw man ending was peak.

I thunked about it and I honestly think I'm ok with this. Misery porn where Denji suffered enormously every week was getting kinda old.

He got Power and Nayuta and the ordinary life he always wanted.

He drew her ass bigger than it was in Part 1.

This is vital for the execution of the story's themes.

I don't really get all the anger to be honest. Maybe it's because I went back a little bit and read Part 2 in concurrence, but it's still pretty decent. There's not a whole lot left unresolved. Some things are maybe a little obscure, but there really aren't that many unanswered questions. The narrative is pretty clear, Denji, unable to be happy with the things he wanted due to real life circumstances, got the Bad Ending. Pochita, watching all of this eventually realized he was the common factor and when things were beyond repair, he sacrifices himself to give Denji a better life. Maybe Pochita is wrong to a degree, but he's a devil and he's not human and he doesn't understand that.

It's pretty clear none of it was a dream. It all happened, Denji might remember it as a dream, but it gives Denji a chance at a normal life. It's an alternate universe now, so I really could care less how all of works out logically.

I also don't think Fujimoto is necessarily done here. If there isn't a Part 3, I'm fine with this being the ending we got. If there is a Part 3, I doubt it will be called Chainsawman. If he wants to continue it, he will. If he doesn't, who cares. I don't really give a crap if it's a "fan-servicey" ending, but it does kind of fit for what we were given in Part 2 if you go back and reread it. He clearly did have this ending in mind the entire time.

How does he do a "Everyone is happy" ending and OUR BOY STILL DOESN'T GET TO TOUCH BOOBS!
We know he'll get them someday.

Why is Nayuta Makima now? Why would a Makima-like figure even exist in that way now that Chainsaw Devil doesn't exist as her obsession? Where's my bro Aki???
Pochita's erasure is incomplete. He also didn't erase the heart he gave Denji(which is also seemingly diseased to some degree in the reset world), so it also makes sense that his erasure wouldn't change whatever setup Japan had with the Control Devil(only in this timeline, it's Nayuta since Makima's death couldn't be undone, because plot convenience)

How does he do a "Everyone is happy" ending and OUR BOY STILL DOESN'T GET TO TOUCH BOOBS!
"It's good you didn't get to do that"

Anyway, I don't hate The Lebowski Ending. Feels like a ragequit though.
Manga could've gone on for another 20-30 chappys resolving Asa's plot, she doesn't even seem to be living more selfishly in the ending and is still a weird femcel who almost killed Bucky again? Yoru just peaced out of existence even though Nayuta made it? kinda gay ngl. at least SnK gave us SOME closure on Eren by making him get BirdCucked

yeah, no, I don't really think this was Fujimoto reagebaiting or anything like that, even if wanted a anti-climatic ending like Big Lebowski.

The big lebowski ending works because the Dude does nothing in the story, he mostly just watches the events unfold, he is a lazy loser that can't even dress himself.

That is not what CSM was going for, Fujimoto spend a lot of time building these characters and world to just "lol, just reset it, okay, it's all good now".

Fujimoto gave up. A lot of mangakas that manage to hit a sucess do that. Turns out drawing manga 12 hours a day sucks, and it sucks even more when you have a lot of money and could be doing anything else.

I'd rather my protagonist go on to live a happy life at the end of the story than the entire main cast be fucked for the rest of their very short lives and being executed.

Seriously fuck AOT, it's trash and not even close by comparison.

I don't agree that he gave up either. This is very clearly the ending he intended for Part 2 right from the get-go. You see it building up to this very early on now that we have the gift of hindsight.

Part 3 will redeem the series. You just gotta trust the plan for a while longer.
Part 3 of what series? This was just a 1 shot pilot bro. What were we even reading again?
Fujimoto gave up. A lot of mangakas that manage to hit a sucess do that.
I feel like the pinpointed moment that you can tell he gave up was around the church arc. Either the manga needed sporadic/monthly releases, an extended break or for Part 2 to have never happened.
