So in case you haven't heard, the northeast corner of Spain is having a vote on declaring independence from the rest of the country. The central government is trying to shut it down. It's kind of a big deal.

Pablo Casado Blanco said that if Catalonia continues then the leader will be arrested for treason like when Companys declared independence in 1934 by saying that Catalonia's leaders will have the same fate as when Companys declared independence.

Catalonian media is trying to twist what he said to mean that Catalonia's leaders will be shot like when Franco shot them in 1940. They've also been talking about the police doing sieg heils when the police have their arms out of the window of a car in pictures.
