I fucking hate Story Corps long before I hated NPR.

I stopped watching Story Corps when they tackled the most mundane, yet totally woke shit like ten years ago. My favorites I still think back to are "Human Voice" (the man's voice is so unique), and the one about a WWII vet thinking back on a young German soldier he shot, you don't get those insights anymore.

Come to think of it, you never see them taking inspiration Precure, or Tokyo Mew Mew, or Kill la Kill. It’s always Sailor Moon, maybe Winx Club if you’re lucky.

I wonder if any of those people even know that Cutie Honey was a thing. But then again, given that most of Go Nagai's titles would be seen as "problematic", there's a chance that they do know, but refuse to acknowledge that, in the HWSNBM fashion.

I don’t get the impression that this devotion to the genre extended past watching whatever was already airing on Cartoon Network when they were twelve.

A friend and I recently got to talking about some industry stuff, and Chris Savino came up. We were wondering exactly what went on during the time he was fired from Nickelodeon because of sexual harassment allegations, and saw that he was divorcing his wife around 2017 (though it was filed in 2018).

Then I found this:





This is the ex's Instagram where you can see her teenage/young-adult boys looking oh-so-happy. And you can see she has a new adjective to describe herself:


Makes you wonder if his home life made him act out inappropriately at work, or if it was being in the wrong place (animation studio being taken over by women) at the wrong time (marriage falling apart during height of #MeToo). Oh, and Bethany has a credit for that 2020 Sponge on the Run movie.

What's up with that?

Of course Chris is now considered a born-again Christian as of 2019, which take that as you will, but given he's never been welcomed back into the industry, it begs the question: Who gained more from this?

I thought the ex trooned out when I looked at her Insta tbh, her boys look that much like her in her butch dyke phase. She does make-up, so she clearly designed them to look like her to the point a son dressed up like her for Halloween. I shit you not.

Something definitely happened between her and Chris just before the allegations were made. Maybe he did creep on women, maybe he was losing it when his marriage fell apart and crossed a line without thinking. I can't tell if the ex was nuts before or after the divorce, women who suddenly lez out do so because their husbands were just that awful or they're attention whores, either-or.

But just compare this to when Lasseter was forced to leave Disney. Both of them had allegations that were never followed up on, and no police reports were ever filed (HR is useless, can't trust their word). Yet Lasseter and his wife are still together despite the allegations, and she could totally clean him out. Although Lasseter wasn't a creator of a raunchy comic strip, so who knows.

A better comparison would be Skyler Page who ended up admitting years later the 2014 allegations were true, and he's gotten in recent legal trouble for shoplifting Nerf guns, yet Chris hasn't said anything and has stayed out of sight. Out of guilt, a strategic tactic, or something deeper?

The timing of #MeToo in animation is just real suspicious, it feels more strategic than anything else.

If I were them, I'd heed the words of someone with decades of experience who has seen this exact thing happen before. Especially in the face of multiple huge challenges all facing the industry at the same time. But then again if I were them I wouldn't be an animation tard posting hissy fits on twitter every day. Remind me to come back in a year and see if his words pan out.

EDIT: A couple further thoughts. What the hell do they plan on accomplishing with any resolutions? Call me narrow minded but I don't see an American worker's union having an ounce of sway over decisions regarding Israeli armed forces. It's mind boggling to me how these people continuously act like they hold all the bargaining chips, and yet all they can do is hurt themselves.

The situation in Nicaragua in the 80s is nothing like the situation in Gaza today, for entertainment professionals I mean. In the 80s those people actually did their jobs, occasionally had hits, and seemed somewhat concerned with professionalism. Those people were actually jeopardizing careers that had value.

Half these goofballs here don’t even have jobs. It’s the internet equivalent of a drum circle at a protest march. I feel bad for Tom Sito, trying to talk to them like a reasonable adult. They’re recreationally pissing all over him
