This project absolutely deserves to fail, yet I don’t think it will. The Rooster Teeth thread went through this with another “black woman directed short”, the campaign looked like it was dead in the water until at the last minute it made up tens of thousands for no reason.

Been thinking that it doesn't really matter if Pearl gets full funding or not. She fails to procure the money, or she's successful, it doesn't matter at the end of the day. Her work is still going to be considered a failure and mocked/swiftly forgotten simply because there's no real merit, no real backbone to the show outside of it being "queer roller skating Sailor Moon ripoff". How the hell do you even make a full season out of it, let alone a compelling web comic/graphic novel?

It won't matter if she gets this show off the ground or not. She's still going to throw huge hissy fits over the slightest sigh of criticism, and that's where the most quantities of milk will come from.

Also, just watch: the animation and color palette is still going to be a complete shitty eyesore. And that's before you get into what will obviously have poor voice-acting and writing.

There was an article that did the rounds in A&N and the various tabletop rpg threads recently where someone had looked into the assorted drama in those circles. One of the points mentioned in there that is as true in the cartoon industry was that these people are all competing with one another and the failure of one can lead to the success of others, essentially only infinite opportunity would allow all of them to get their treasured shows produced and there is not that much funding or interest to go round. So the sperging remains the same no matter how many of those shows we get.
