So you all remember that smile controversy in the first trailer for this movie? I wonder if they filmed this deleted scene in response.
Hard to tell. The whole movie is a woke feminist fantasy, so why would this scene be any different.
I mean, tbh it's a violent version of this scene, except The Simpsons were being ironic:

Here is a response to that clip to justify why that scene is okay and that the MCU is totally worth supporting in the future because I'm too much of a fanboy to let go.

Just for compare for contrast. In the Superman mythos there is Steve Lombard, sports writer for the Daily Planet and (wannabe) alpha-male douche who pranks Clark Kent and hits on Lois Lane. Does Supes beat him up and take his property? Nope, he just surreptitiously uses his powers as Clark to either foil Steve's pranks or make them backfire.

It really irritates me when people (especially SJWs) compare Captain Marvel to Superman. Both are obviously OP, but at least Jonathan and Martha Kent raised Clark to be the bigger person and use his powers to set a better example. Carol is merely petty and a revenge fantasy for third-wave feminists.

You know if it was written as a flaw that deep down she is a petty asshole who cannot be the bigger person, then I would be okay with that as that is a very human trait that if not kept in check can lead to ruin and hurt. Though I don't think that is the angle they will go with her sadly.

A very very late question because I wait until everyone who ever had the intention to watch this film has done so. No spoiler tag either because I presume it is common knowledge. The question is, when Carol learns that her fucking hellspawn of a cat has blinded Nick Fury in one eye, what is her reaction? Remorse? Guilt? "shit happens"? or "way to go Goose fuck yeah FEMINISM!"?

And "what about Doctor Strange?"

That's probably why they took it out.

Even they aren't quite that stupid.

It still cuts from him telling her to smile to her having his motorcycle and clothing. Indeed, without the scene in question we're free to assume whatever we want that leads to that result.

In my version of Captain Marvel, she murders him and then eats the corpse. Doesn't seem too out of character.

‘Captain Marvel’ Triggers Fanboys With Extended ‘What, No Smile?’ Scene, Proving Its Point
Outraged male fans protested the clip's criticism of toxic masculinity by revealing some toxic masculinity of their own.

Brie Larson, "Captain Marvel"
“Captain Marvel”

A Twitter troll’s outrage is never spent, it seems.
Fanboys across Twitter shed many fanboy tears about a deleted scene that Marvel Studios released to promote the June home entertainment release of “Captain Marvel.” It’s an extended and alternate version of a scene already in the movie, in which Captain Marvel has landed on 1990s earth and is reading a map to find her way around Los Angeles, when a testosterone-addled jerk on a motorcycle pulls up next to her and catcalls her. He even asks “What, no smile?”
In this version of the scene, the Captain offers him a handshake, demonstrates her iron grip, and asks for his bike lest he should lose his hand. He quickly relents. It plays a lot like any scene from the Terminator franchise where an outsider to present-day earth uses some aggressive negotiation tactics to get what they need — but with the satisfying feminist twist of Captain Marvel both getting what she needs and putting some toxic masculinity in its place.

So, of course, certain outraged male viewers took to Twitter to vent their own toxic masculinity in solidarity with the biker dude and his bruised hand. One tweet read: “Man, it is so empowering to watch a woman with superpowers physically hurt and then threaten to break a man’s hand — and steal his motorcycle and jacket because he said something rude to her! So empowering! Empowerment!”
Another, apparently upset by his perceived notion that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, rather than being a studiously apolitical corporate juggernaut, a mouthpiece for left-wing activists, added: “We’ll get a deleted scene from ‘Endgame’ where the Hulk is getting ready to go liberate Palestine while Captain America is beating up protesters outside a Planned Parenthood.”
It’s fascinating that a certain, very secure, social media obsessed contingent of male fandom, empowered by being given both a platform and relative anonymity, has appeared so very threatened by “Captain Marvel,” even taking to Rotten Tomatoes weeks in advance of its release to preemptively lower its audience score. The matter was serious enough that it prompted a change: Rotten Tomatoes has since announced that only verified ticket buyers will be able to rate a film upon its release.
Avail yourself below of the extended scene that has apparently threatened the masculinity of so many.

Curious as to what point they think is being proven.

I don't pay much attention to SJW commentary or Anti-SJW commentary surrounding a movie. Usually, one side or the other is blowing shit out of proportion and making wild assumptions about things.

So I don't see the point in watching something if my opinions on it means I'm gonna be caught in a squabble.

However, everything I've heard on this- from reputable and reliable sources- has told me that it's pretty much "what happens when someone lets an angry fat bitch write a superhero movie without a man's supervision".

I’ve just come up with an (admittedly far fetched and unlikely) theory about Manvers and the future of the MCU. They said she would be the center of the MCU... but maybe they didn’t mean that she would become the flagship hero... What if she becomes the central villain of the MCU. Have her become a full fascist like in Civil War 2. This might have a less than one percent chance of happening but it would be worth it if only for the massive mount of salt than can be mied

So here's the difference with the flawed character traits of the likes of Thor, Doctor Strange, and Iron Man:

Granted, they DID come across as bad people from the start (especially Strange, IMO). However, these characters go through development that makes them strive to become better people, thus making them heroes you root for at the end. At the beginning of these origin movies, the movie clearly establishes that these would-be heroes started off as douchebags who needed a reality check and a few slices of humble pie. And even WITH the unlikable personality traits, the actors who have portrayed these characters have had stage presence and charisma.

Contrast that with Captain Marvel: The deleted scene of her acting like the Terminator is a huge miscalculation. Why? Because the scene was meant to be put in there as an "empowering" moment for the women watching, and not a scene that showcases any type of "character flaw." It was a scene made to pander to both 90s nostalgia AND women. It's a deleted scene for a reason: I think that the people at Marvel realized how the scene came across, so they left it out of the film.

Captain Marvel essentially goes through ZERO character development. Throughout the entire movie, the audience is told that she's perfect the way she is. Her problems were ALL because of other people, and not her. Add that with an actress who is a complete FLATLINE compared to every other actor in the MCU, and sorry not sorry, we got a fundamental problem with the character (and her solo movie).

Call me crazy, but I've never seen Doctor Strange, Thor, or Iron Man crash though a ship, definitely killing at least hundreds potentially brainwashed/innocent people (like Carol was), and shouting "WOOOO!" while doing so. Captain Marvel is a fucking psycho.

After the backlash that the likes of Game of Thrones has gone through, I cannot envision the MCU going this route.

That'd be cool as fuck, if not an outright antagonist, have her have a difficult time coming to terms with the fact that she's not as smart or in control as she believes to be point she essentially makes herself the enemy for the rest of the team.

tbh I think that'll likely play into a sequel and kind of what we're talking about with her as an antagonist. I'd be interested to see her betrayed by the Skrulls and have a storyline play out where she probably could just Super Sayian them all to death, but is consistently outsmarted and manipulated by them. There's your character arc, and you don't even have to undo much of the origin.

The biggest problem with Captain marvel is she is Superman and/or Goku It's why I said the CW Supergirl does it better.

Superman is usually the most boring ass hero because he's too good at everything. Unless there's a plot that revolves around a problem that having super every power can't solve you end up with what we got in the Captain marvel movie and endgame. Politics be damned.

Now for a sentence about politics.

Plus, at least the pandering the CW Supergirl show did was blatant. Not to mention Supergirl doesn't come off as a complete turbo bitch to anyone trying to work with her.

When thanos is more likeable or at least sympathetic than your Superman analogue, you got some problems.
