I did not read this entire thread and I’m not going to.
Here’s my two cents on Carol Danvers.

I’m a fan of the animated x men series and to me the only reason Carol Danvers matters at all is that she’s the reason why Rogue has her ancillary powers.

There should have been a stand alone Rogue movie instead of this.

Is there a reason why I can’t get an X men movie where the female leads haven’t been de sexualized and nerfed by chickenhawk Bryan Singer?

He’s the kind of gay guy who sees women as competition and it shows in his treatment of female characters in his movies.

You ain't the only one who wishes it was Rogue instead, as Captain Marvel is a literally who character to most whose super boring on her own anyway.

Then again the old Captain Marvel when she was called Ms. Marvel is actually not hated and is somewhat decent.

Funny how Aquaman did not pander for having the title character being of Polynesian ethnicity. Also both Arthur and Mera balanced each other rather than have one character upstage the other. That still did not stop Fandom from posting an article that called for a Mera solo film. It is fascinating to see how the marginalized hierarchy varies and never stays consistent.
I can't even use the the word "social justard" anymore... they're all fucking retards now.

Wasn't it leaked by Disney that

Jude Law is actually Mar-Vell? To be quite honest, Mar-Vell is an infinitely more interesting character than Carol Danvers. He is more or less the "Superman" of the Marvel Universe, but his story arc about him dying from cancer is actually quite a great storyline. One of my favorite comic storylines of the 80's, actually. That story arc gave some fantastic characterization for Thanos as well.

Plus, Jude Law is a great actor. I'm kind of mad that Disney is giving us a fantastic casting choice like that ... But are shoving Brie Larson down our throats instead. That's a bummer.

I said this earlier in this thread, but I will second everyone who wants to see Rogue. Rogue is my favorite female Marvel hero. There's something incredibly charming and inspiring about Rogue: She has some of the WORST powers of all the X-Men (from a personal standpoint), and while it does give her conflict quite a lot, she isn't the weakling that was portrayed in the movies. She has TONS of sass, and displays her powers a lot of the time with a smile on her face. That's what makes Rogue awesome. It sucks that the Bryan Singer movies gave people this perception of Rogue that she's some mopey teenager who does nothing.

I would go nuts in the movie theater if they show Rogue take Carol Danvers' powers. It would be the best nerd moment to experience in the movie theater ever (or, one of the best). Won't happen for a while (if at all) at the very least though, as Disney's deal with Fox hasn't been set in stone yet.

When did the first Christopher Reeves Superman come out? 'Course I never understood how him buzzing around the world didn't tear it apart rather than making time go backwards, but what the hey.

At least that movie was actually good and you know, he didn't do it cuz the studios had a MRA agenda or something. So if you criticized it, your a misandrist!

See what the issue is? If Captain Marvel did that, and people criticized her for being OP, then they would be brushed off as sexist. It's toxic as fuck.

For those who didn't notice, it's obvious that Disneyvel is shoving Carol down our throats since they're desperate to find a character who can be their "Wonder Woman" (that is, an iconic female superhero who's not a sidekick, a female version of a more iconic male like She-Hulk, or member of a team like Rogue and Storm and Susan Richards).

If I were a little girl, Captain Marvel wouldn't be on my radar. Her costume looks like a dollar store version of Captain America.

I'd much rather wear a Wonder Woman or Spider-Gwen costume, as those costumes look cool AND feminine/pretty. Captain Marvel ain't gonna be shit this year for Halloween; I'm calling it now.

Even the Halle Berry Catwoman costume was popular among women for Halloween 2004. lol.

Spider-Gwen looks rad from a design point of view.

And hell, even Gwenpool (different character but whatever) looks cool. At least she's pleasant to look at.

And the costume for Halle Berry wasn't bad, just it wasn't Catwoman.

So do people expect the movie will flop, or just wish it would to "teach them a lesson"?

I don't think it's going to bomb; it's getting released at the right moment, when not much else is coming out. Plus, Marvel has built a brand for themselves that the general public trusts.

Some people (blue checkmarks on Twitter), are saying that this movie will make "Black Panther" numbers. I highly doubt that. I think it's going to make something more along the lines of "Ant-Man" numbers, even if the movie totally sucks. Venom was a surprise hit. I don't think that's going to happen with Captain Marvel. I just don't see the hype at all.

I'm going to see the movie. I hope it doesn't suck. If it does, I hope it bombs.

same reason why those movies focused on big buff leather clad hugh jackman to the detriment of everything else

Captain Marvel is definitely not gonna make Black Panther, Wonder Woman or Aquaman money. It just doesn’t have the hype those three movies had. Most people I’ve heard talking about CM are negative and blasting about how much of a bomb it’s going to be. At least with Black Panther and Aquaman there was a positive hype behind it, and Wonder Woman really stole the first female CBM spotlight (and rightfully so). I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the just as unknown to mainstream Shazam makes more money because I’ve heard way more positive feedback even from hardcore Marvel fans. I could see this movie pulling a Justice League, being hyped to kingdom come by the studio only to bomb extravagantly.

Off topic, but did anyone see the new teaser trailer for Far From Home? Now that’s how you hype up a movie!

With us being about two months away from Captain Marvel, I am honestly getting some bad Batman V Superman vibes from all the trailers as the movie from it looks like a joyless mess. I believe the movie is going to have a competent enough script and be passable, I just think that Carol Denvers isn't a character you make a focused movie about unless she is apart of an ensemble cast. I honestly expect the movie to at least make solid money from the Marvel name alone where it will make money, but the returns won't be Black Panther or Guardians of the Galaxy numbers. The very worst for the movie it will be a box office disappointment where it doesn't make the money the studio expected it to.

Oh yeah, I just don't see the hype at all for Captain Marvel. I think a lot of it is because Carol Danvers comes across as so offputting in these trailers; devoid of any personality. The movie honestly looks like Green Lantern. We'll see though. I'm giving the movie a chance, and I want to be proven wrong.

While I do think there are definitely some MCU movies that are lesser than others, I have never walked out of an MCU movie, thinking "I regret seeing that." That's why I'm giving this movie a fair chance. The MCU hasn't disappointed me yet.

I just watched the Far From Home trailer, and yesssssss. The hype is so real! Mysterio, bitches!
