Captain Marvel - Literally, from "her" to "hero"

Idk if the after-credits cameo at the end of Infinity War was supposed to portray her as the last great hope in a world of shit but I'm just not feeling it. Honestly, I think a Rogue movie would have done a better job at getting me hyped since Rogue is simply a much better female Marvel character and not one just shoehorned in for girl power bonus points.

Do you think Marvel is going to have someone with that prominent of a Southern accent be a hero?

What is she, Captain Rooster?

It's supposed to resemble the fins of Kree military uniforms and they thought replacing the fin with her hair would be neat. The comics rarely use it if ever so I assume someone else thought it looked awful but it could just be the result of them later making her hair so short that she wouldn't have enough for the mohawk anyways.

Call me easily amused, but this looks completely hilarious to me. The way she is standing, completely convinced of her own badassitude, with that ridiculous helmet... Good times.

Also, that "I'm not going to fight your war, I'm going to end it," line in the trailer couldn't sound more petulant and coming from a spoiled-princess type character. Am I supposed to buy her as a hero warrior noble hero warrior chickenhead warrior?

I didn't like this trailer as much as the first one. I'm still decently excited about the movie, but I am a bit concerned as to whether or not it will be as good as other MCU films. At the very least, I'm confident that it won't be a dumpster fire.


I mean, the Kree in the MCU thus far have been portrayed as pretty imperialistic. My assumption, based on everything that we know so far, is that Yon-Rogg (who Jude Law is supposedly playing) has been lying to Carol about the true goals etc of the Kree.

My guess is it’ll be an ok film, with an interesting villain, but a boring protagonist.

Antman and the Wasp was boring. I think we've finally passed peak MCU and it's all downhill from here. This ad campaign is downright offensive in how much it insults the viewers' intelligence with all the "A superhero, but a GIRL!" shit. As if that was somehow a novelty.

Pretty much. What makes Superman work, at least more than people give it credit for, is the power was never supposed to be the sole focus and the DCU is home to many peers who can rival or even surpass him. Adaptations get that across to varying degrees of success but it's true for the comics. There's even tragedy in how that strength is near useless in fixing society's ills, not everything you can punch away.

Meanwhile if you accept this Captain Marvel wank, she already has a shitty personality and dwarfs her peers to a comical degree. Does the MCU even have anyone who's not using the Power Stone or is a Celestial that wreck planets singlehandedly? I'm drawing a blank.

Though chances are Brie Larson doesn't know what she's talking about and huffing her own farts.

He wasn't able to in the MCU but if we're talking other A-listers, Captain America is usually someone who can use Mjolnir with little problem. It's always vague what qualifies as worthy outside being some noble warrior type. Superman required Odin's approval to temporarily wield it, presumably because he's lacking in whatever traits the others have going for them.

My older brother saw the trailer when we went to see Creed II, he said it looked awful and like you I'm skipping Captain Marvel and stopping after Endgame.
