The optimism is appreciated, but you are really naive if you expect enough of Calgary and Edmonton to vote in favour of independence to yield a 50%+1 outcome. At best any current referendum will yield ~25-30%, and the fight will be over securing leadership which actually has a modicum of public relations skill necessary to grow the core support. There's too many grifters and midwit morons involved right now to drive up the numbers.

Don't get me wrong, I still hope any potential referendum succeeds, but I do not anticipate the current climate supporting enough fence sitting movement to trigger the Final Laurentian Solution. There's still too many boomers and jeet interests which can sink any vote thanks to our previous "leaders".

The problem for the Canadian Right Wing is thinking it can muster enough voter energy to get some electoral wins - while not having the cohesive and coordinated base to enforce those wins by threatening to strike or gum up the works if there's no follow-through. And we don't have that cohesive base because we're a euro-mutt rabble that the government aggressively suppresses anytime it starts talking about ways to congeal.
That is also why Albertans are incompatible with Canada.
The Liberal party has spent the last 60-70 years aggressively opposing any formation of a real national identity. Prior to this the idea was United Empire Loyalists with a deep British character. Starting with Pearson and then the Trudeau years it became French Canada is real Canada, the rest are resource colonies. Canada is a state, not a nation.
This is just someone who does not understand how the market works and the logistics. Oil doesn't teleport, also the US is a net exporter of oil at the moment.

It's the story, the idea, the triumph of the nation. America has it done right. The founding fathers, 1776, the wild west. An idea and an ideal. America is the greatest brand in the world. With a storied past. People want to be American. You suffer through being a Canadian.
I can never tell if that's the doomer mindset or just the current Canadian mindset being forgetful or unknowing of its own past. Either way it's no good. Our officially legitimized and/or 'elite' stuff sucks and is uninspiring; you're right in that I can't point to any Canadian official heroes that ever inspired me to participate in this country - but that's the official/legitimate channels. And anyway I'm a Slav, so maybe it just doesn't connect because none of those people are mine. (With the exception of Gretzky, can you name a single loved Slav in Canada? Maybe Peter Gzowski if anyone remembers him. Even the niggers and Irish got presidents, all we got is Freeland - and I wouldn't wish her on anyone.)
