This is what I hate most about him, you can just tell he's an arrogant ass under that carefully curated economist image. It's already well-known he blows up at getting questioned in any serious capacity, but we don't get to see much because of how hard the media circles the wagon. His first real scandal will be one to watch because he does not have the charisma or social skill necessary to pass it off and deflect in front of the cameras; Carney will melt down over it, and it will be very funny watching it happen.

Reminds me of how Putin sucks at interviews outside of Russia where he gets prepared questions for him to easily answer.

Speaking of Russia, I'm surprised that the liberals are still supporting Ukraine given that Canada is very pro-China, and Russia doing poorly would be bad China as well.

If you've read his book, you realize he doesn't. He comes from a central planning top down ideology. His view of economics is to change the rules so he wins, rather than compete with a superior service or product. He can only exist in a world where the government tips the scales in his favour. Despite his schooling, he's not brilliant, he's not insightful, he's not clever. He looks down on the market, on the consumer, on the paying customer as being unable to understand his own self proclaimed brilliance. So government has to be involved to force the market to acquiesce to his whims.

Just like how Angela Merkel was trained as a physicist and quantum chemist, but bought into anti-nuclear fear mongering.

Alberta should just shut off the Oil taps to Ottawa until they get their way

Alberta's only real power move is to refuse to send in the transfer payments.

No oil goes east, it all goes to the states for refining so the Fed's don't give a shit about that. Alberta could cut off the access to BC ports for the east but again BC only has some pretty shitty little ports, most imported goods again come up via train or truck via the US. Again the Feds would probably just end up shrugging and close off the routes into Alberta as leverage.

But stop sending in the tithe? Now that's a direct threat to Ottawa. They would respond quickly and probably violently. My guess they would send the RCMP to arrest the Premier while using the CBC to focus on how Alberta is being so greedy, not willing to their fair share etc etc. The ways and means have been thoroughly tested during the trucker convoy so they will not what to say to keep the majority of people on the Fed side.

If Alberta fights, we will fight alone. Central Canada hates us, the Maritimes depending on the money the Feds extort out of Alberta and, while I do love my Saskatchewan brothers, there are more people in Edmonton then all of Saskatchewan.

This is why Alberta will need US support to make anything work. Without US support, both material and morale, eventually they'd have to bend the knee to Ottawa again due to being choked off.

There is a reason why Ottawa is recruiting Janissary's in bulk. They do expect big problems in the future, and they will be ready to kill anyone who steps up with their foreign forces. Canada's getting worse in all metrics at a pretty steady rate so it doesn't take a genius to crunch some numbers and know when shit will get bad enough that even the Elbows Up die hard Liberal voter will start causing issues.

The elites will be ready to crack down, the question is will we?
