If Canada was a serious, sane country, the Liberal Party would have been crushed by the law for being nothing more than a criminal organization long ago.

To be a negative nancy, this Albertan seperatism stuff is a load of bullshit. Like no one could seriously be thinking one (1) province is peeling away like Quebec. They would have to at least take the other prarie states with them (maybe even BC or the arctic if you want to be all hoi4 strategic about) but that would probably say the quiet part out loud of taking all the real Canadians with you. Forgive my outsider perspective but it just looks like Albertans are trying to reach for the heights of...Bush era American conservatism

As an Albertan, you haven't got 1/64th of a fucking clue.

Alberta has all the necessary resources to be independent, and has been systemically disenfranchised by the Canadian system. We are underrepresented in parliament and may as well not have any presence in the senate. We put in 80% of the budget for the nation. Our values and way of life are constantly declared un-Canadian by the liberal media and the Liberal Party.

Fuck off until you have a ghost of a clue.

Alberta is literally the province with the best economy and and stand alone without assistance. Our politicians have flown to Washington D.C to nail down negotiations for trade agreements, and we have been working on the paperwork to split off public services like the Alberta Pension Plan. Plus, of course, the federal government has basically made it impossible to make our voices heard in elections and has tried to hurt up many times with their insane policies.

Of all the provinces, including Quebec, Alberta has the strongest incentive to leave and the best ability to survive on it's own. Quebec relies on equalisation payments and has a much stronger say in elections - them voting for another party can easily change who the ruling party is for the country - so they don't have the ability or incentive that Alberta does.

What happens next is when it gets interesting. BC will be largely isolated as there are no major highways connecting them to the rest of Canada, and they are the next best off and are drifting to the right in elections. If Alberta ends up going independent and thrives they will likely swing towards separation. I'm not sure about the sentiment in Newfoundland & Labrador, Saskatchewan might jump if they have solid trade agreements with Alberta and the States, nobody else will unless they stop getting equalisation payments or are convinced they will thrive independently
