Next month has two or three interesting things happening, if you exclude what's going on in the states with EBT. The budget will happen on November 4 with a nonzero chance that it doesn't pass and a snap election is called, and around the 14th or 15th the King's Court will begin the constitutional review of the petition to secede from Canada.
Are we finally in those “Interesting Times” the Chinese Curse likes to talk about? Cause fucking hell, I just want Something to Happen.

Meaning most likely nothing will happen.

There's also an expectant escalation in the tarrifs dispute, while Danielle Smith is trying to pass a law that would allow Alberta to negotiate its own trade agreement (likely in conjunction with a tentative agreement with Trump), and it seems like the NDP has finally withdrawn from the supply and confidence agreement with the Liberals (two years too late) which makes a non confidence vote more likely.

And that's just some of the stuff that we know of, there is likely even more stuff in the pipeline that will catch us by surprise.

How long until the Canada pension plan actually runs out? Officially it'll be a long time, but I bet that number doesn't include the immigrants who immediately go on pension.

Remember there are two types of CPP plans.

The gold plated Federal workers ones, owned by federal politicians, federal employees and such, that by law must be paid out before any other government payouts. Hence Mr Rolex's massive efforts to ensure he reach the benchmark for his before he got booted out of the NDP. Those are worth literal gold as banks will lend money against them at low rates because they are so solid thanks to Trudeau's law.

And the brass one the rest of us "have" that will be empty in about 17 years at the current rates if we're lucky. I'd say most people reading this will never see a single cent of the money they paid into the system.

Assuming of course that the Canadian economy doesn't just collapse into a black hole long before then, which is not a far off speculation. If your counting on the CPP to aid in your retirement I would seriously advise you to think again. Or start eating dogfood now so that when your 70 your used to the taste.

Minor aside, I am surprised Canada isn't advertising more just how good the exchange rate of dollars to looney's is. 1 USD is worth 30 cents more then 1 CAD right now. That is an amazing exchange rate. You could get alot of Americans to go take vacations in Canada. Gamble in the Niagra casinos or just generally go north to Buy shit like a TV, clothing or liquor.

But most Americans are unaware they can do this, or just what a +30% exchange rate benefit translates into. Especially for large purchases. In many respects, for an export economy like Canada's, a weaker CAD to the USD should be a huge economic benefit. But it seems Ottawa views this as shameful and there has been no effort made to actually make Americans aware of it.

CPP will be fine it's OAS is the one that will be cut.

You are correct that CPP isn't and won't be enough to live off, especially when most people won't qualify for their first mortgage till they are 40 and taking a 30 year mortgage will take you till 70 (if you are even able to still work)

At this point that's just a way to get an elbow to the gut. Canadians are quite awful people these days.

Sorry brother but I'm going to have to give you rainbows here.

At the rate the cost of borrowing is exploding, with the current government set to borrow even more then Trudeau somehow, the cost of the interest payments on the already issued bonds is already consuming a huge chunk of the incoming tax money.

With the economy on the downturn (and that's being generous) and the Liberals completely unwilling to either curtail spending (LOL) or increase taxes to pay for said spending the only choice Carney leaves is to just keep borrowing more and more money at higher and higher rates every year.

The pot will run dry, either the economy crashes or the Liberals borrow so much money we become Greece and can no longer pay even the interest on the debt let alone pay off the debt itself. And if you believe that somehow the Cons will reverse this trend when they inevitably win back control I can only admire your faith.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the Conservatives are literally sabotaging themselves so that they don't end up holding the bag when everything goes up in flames. I can see BC and Saskatchewan planning their exit strategy if Alberta succeeds on getting on a life boat

The young ones already can't get jobs. The few that do are already doomed. What happens when the boomers die off and there's nobody working? What happens when the kids never move out of their parent's home because a a literal shack is $5000? Is there really a reason to work anymore?

The news or propaganda coming out of Chinese me..I mean Canadian media is hilarious. Supposedly Canada will drop ev tariff to save agricultural industry.

That's political suicide in USA and clear indication that Canada is not a friend of America.

Liberals unironically wanting closer Chinese ties to "own america" is nothing new. Ever since Pierre Trudeau the liberal party has been pro PRC

I unironically see canada having a sort of civil conflict over this shit since there is no future whatsoever.

Last year the RCMP released a report on how the economic uncertainty and record high housing prices is leading to increased radicalization,

Of course Carney and the rest of his cabinet (same cabinet as Trudeau had just reshuffled) has done absolutely nothing to address it.

I can't wait for Leaflanders to experience the crappy Chink EV quality at hand. As in them self-combusting, getting piss poor range in the Winter, and not being able to get them serviced or get replacement parts for them. And yet Chinada will still somehow find a way to spin those events as a good thing.

Well I am so very happy for Jewdeau and Katie Perry officially becoming a couple! Maybe Trudeau can treat her to some nice dinners now that he's done pillaging the country...
