Canada is a failed state

A lot of old people will die, dramatically dropping the cost of housing.
This will only expedite the housing crisis, it won't actually drop the cost of housing in the long run. The more old people that die, and the more houses that come onto the market, the more powerful realty companies and wealthy individuals will buy them and hold them as investments or sources of passive income.

So are the western provinces gonna actually do something
Complaining is doing something. They don't actually want solutions; politicians always hate solutions. Canadians love to complain, and bitch, and whine, and moan, and complain. That's all they ever do and it's all that they'll ever do.

People that really believe that the Western provinces would (or even could) ever secede need to put down their pipes for a minute and really think about the treacherous incompetency of politicians in this country. They can't seem to do anything besides lining their wallets, kowtowing to whatever social fad wafts over from the States, and retiring the moment their pensions kick in, all without having done anything meaningful or substantial (unless of course, it was a net negative - they love doing things that mess up the country).

This whole gay "we are the sons of Britannia!!" LARP becomes a lot gayer when you take into consideration how there's more people of German descent in Saskatchewan than there are of English descent; or how Manitoba was a functionally bilingual province until the 20th century when Laurentian despots, in collaboration with the foreign crown of England, decided to curtail Francophone rights there; or how these LARPers act as though the ethnogenesis of a uniquely Canadian people, the Métis, somehow constitutes a historical mistake rather than an act of Providence; or any of the multitude of things that make the entire "movement" (read: internet fantasy, or poorly-designed political tool) seem so stupid.

My piece of advice for people living in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba: go to school, get trained in an in-demand profession, get a work visa for some other country, and go there to live the life you deserve. Don't waste your life living in a fantasy.

and If something happens and I'm a vegetable, pull the plug, if I ever can't tell who my loved ones are put me in a home, and on the no visitors list.

Still an utterly dystopian headline though.
In principle sure. Unfortunately his support for MAID will be seized upon by the kevorkian ghouls who want to start executing teenagers without their parents having any say because they wrote on a government form that they are sad they will never be able to own a home.
Munsch could go out like a legend by strapping a bomb to himself and taking an old hunting rifle either he owns (or inherited from his father) and going after the Laurentian Elite.

Why only take yourself out with MAID, when you can make the world a slightly better place for your progeny by taking out some Laurentian scum?

I mean, Canada is becoming more and more like the third world. The jeets that aren't completely desperate will flee and loot the USA or Europe instead.

Also, thinking about it, Canada has only had a proper federal conservative party for around 20 years now. The old federal Progressive Conservatives were unironically a Russia tier controlled opposition party (besides maybe a couple of outliers). I mean, if the PCs were still around, either Trudeau would still be in power or carney would've gotten 300 seats this year.

Also I'm genuinely so fucking glad that the Oilers lost against the panthers. Cucknadian liberal nationalism doesn't deserve even the smallest of victories. (Also as a Calgary resident I could never cope with Oilers chuds being the ones to break our losing streak).
Americans are passing the first Anti Indian laws. TPD is at stage 1 here and they are already crashing out. The Overton window moves exponentially fast.

I mean, he does have dementia. I know I'd want someone to ice me if it ever came to that. There's a decent chance he discussed this with his family early on. I think it's incredibly sad and tragic but on paper this is what MAID was designed for. It should always be scrutinized when it's instead someone who has a treatable mental illness or is simply impoverished.
Thank god someone in this thread can use their head instead of blindly taking the word of a ragebait article

What exactly will it look like when Canada goes bankrupt

It's mildly cathartic that the budget officer outright says the money will run out next year. It's going to be happening soon.

I wonder if Pierre intentionally sabotaged the Conservatives from winning because he knew nobody could fix it and if the Conservatives won they would be blamed for what happens next.

I don't think it was intentional sabotage because leftist Canadians actually are so pants-on-head retarded that they'll sooner destroy Canada than support anything tangentially related to muh Orange Man. Otherwise this is essentially what I've been telling people IRL. If the Cons got in every single one of Trudeau's failures would be blamed on them by both the Liberal party and all their dumbass sycophants. Without that cope the last 10 years land squarely and unavoidably on the Liberal's shoulders, and when the country inevitably chokes and dies due to their shitty, suicidal policies they'll serve as a perfect painting for where leftism as a whole gets a country: from being considered as a viable alternative to the USA, to an unlivable, Godless, jeetified, dictatorial third-world shithole that hates it's own people and actively tries to kill them in less than a decade.

Why do people have this notion that Conservatives would be any different from the Liberals? They aren't. The whole idea of the Liberal party is just: "we aren't the Conservatives," and the whole idea of the Conservative party is: "we aren't the Liberals!" They're two sides of the same coin. Two stupid 'big tent' parties that are both incompetent and both want the exact same things because they're both run by the same type of people. It doesn't matter if you take the left road or the right road if both roads end at a garbage dump.

From what I understand, his brother had dementia and died by it, so he doesn't want to suffer the same way his brother did. So as you said, this is was MAID is (supposed to be) for.

I don't disagree with you on the argument that the Cons probably would've proved just as useless in the long term, but my thoughts are that at least they could've maybe delayed the collapse for another term by dropping all those bills they're constantly railing on & drumming up some temporary foreign capital/investments before the libs got back in to squander it all again

Would've at least allowed me around an extra half a decade-ish of time to prep for getting out of the country (schooling, getting into an in-demand profession, etc), it also would've been nice to at least have been able to cash out what little savings I have while our dollar was still technically somewhat worthwhile

I doubt Pierre or any conservative could’ve. I’m not Canadian but I have been following this pretty closely and between you guys and Europe, I’m very thankful we don’t have a parliamentary system. I don’t know what nightmare we’d be in had Harris somehow managed to get elected but the only reason we have a chance now is because of Trump, not the Republican Party.

He’s an anomaly in politics and a once-in-a-lifetime leader that has both the will and the mandate to get shit done. But he can because he has the power of the executive office which is pretty unique in Western nations. Even now we need our limp wristed RINO’s to fall in line to make sure his EO’s stick.

Correct me if I’m wrong but even if Pierre got elected as PM he wouldn’t have the backing to change much would he? Canadian elections confuse the hell out of me. I still can’t wrap my head around being able to just decide when an election will be held instead of it being set in stone.

He would've struggled much like Trump did in Term 1 because every single public institution in this country is in bed with the Liberal Party. Take CBC for example, CBC receives 1.5 billion dollars annually in government funding, much of that is executive bonuses. Pierre wanted to cut that way down and CBC obviously has the incentive to secure it's operating budget, so when Carney came along and said that he'd not only increase the budget but enshrine it's funding into law that created an obvious conflict of interest. And this is just one of countless examples.

The modern Conservative party is not a product of the Laurentian elite, but from Western dissidents who realized that the entire country is rigged against them. The Stephen Harper government was uniquely traumatizing to the Canadian left in particular because Quebec's influence in the government was severely diminished and Western interests often run in opposition to those in Quebec.

Canada's parliamentary system is unique in that there aren't ever really any MP's who voted against their party, if one were to vote against the party line the leader could literally kick them out which forces them to sit as an independent unless another larty takes them in. There was a study done a few years ago that said that even the msot rebellious ones still vote with their party 95% of the time. The only exception is when the leader is extremely unpopular and on track to lose power (Justin Trudeau had this issue in late 2024).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I was literally proven right in less than 5 fucking hours. We are so fucking cooked
