Americans are so lucky. They get to watch their National Guard and the Marines crack some foreign skulls, while we here in Canada are held hostage by Middle Eastern and Pakistani Protestors.

Well, I definitely don't like the idea of sharing a country with LA, Chicago and Portland. Reading the current rhetoric out of American leftists should be mandatory for any wayward Albertan who thinks that the US is just a giant Montana that extends indefinitely. That said, I sure as fuck wouldn't get myself killed to satisfy the emotional needs of "elbows up" boomerlibs who wouldn't piss on me if I were on fire.

And speaking of the current California shitshow, I can't help but not care. Years ago, in my naïveté, I once believed that positive directional change in the US would trickle up to Canada. How foolish. It's more like the opposite. Just about everywhere other than AB and SK are so pathologically contrarian, that if a red state came up with the cure for cancer they would mandate daily cigarette smoking the next day. Get ready for the LPC to import as many Mexican cartel gangsters as they can, just to stick it to MAGA.

:story: oh I love this, it's traditional Lib behaviour. If you read between the lines no new money is going to the military, rather they are using creative accounting through department shuffles to increase the number of military direct reports so it appears as though more funding is occurring. For example our coast guard isn't militarized at all outside of the occasional RCMP presence, but now? Reports to the DOD so counted as part of our military funding. Oh and funny how we have no budget to even remotely verify what the actual spending levels are until at least the autumn!

As an aside multiple other NATO countries do this too to get around the fact they cannot effectively fund anything. Germany especially likes padding its reported defence spending with road work and other miscellaneous infrastructure builds/maintenance.

the privacy protections one is a concern, I would like to know the actual scope of these points as maybe the privacy one is just steps to help them find illegals.

Either way I would've voted for Carney if he said he was doing this (providing that point four is clarified and found acceptable)

Honestly I don't know what to think. Pierre was definitely a wet fart on promises
 
I come from down south (as in, way down south in the land of cotton), and I've seen a lot more Indian gig workers running around. They always have this incredibly haughty look on their face as if they're better than you even though they're glorified errand boys. 'Skilled' Indian immigration in tech is something I've been pretty familiar with and have learned to tolerate but seeing these literal jeetslaves running around acting like they own the place has made me realize what Canadians have been dealing with for the last ten years.

On the bright side, the natural ecology keeps them in check. This area is like 80% black and it does wonders at keeping the jeets away.

Well also Japan has been building nonstop since the 1990s when the bubble popped. Faced with having to deal with the political fallout from construction workers and their unions losing work due to the real estate crash, the government opted to simply subsidize construction to keep the workers happy and also roll new construction into their housing stock for public housing.

This sounds good, but keep in mind that Japan's debt-to-gdp ratio didn't hit 250% without cause. Probably a better use of public money than forever wars and plane tickets from the subcontinent tho.
