Whatever economic and birth rate problems they have, everyone else has the same problem - except we have intense factionalism whereas they have an enforceable unity. They also have an ace up their sleeve, which is that the CCP can always shore up its popularity by taking Taiwan; and the longer they wait to play that card, the better position they are in to play it.

I'm glad I was never born Asian, I hate the bug mentality, but right now they're the strongest horse in the glue factory.

They can't and they won't. Not only would Taiwan bomb the absolute shit out of whatever the Chinese sent their way, the rest of the west and America in particular would not let it happen. Clearly you don't understand how important having bases in and/or control of the islands that surround China is to the US.

Hell, I would have said a couple years ago that, regarding the question of "is China our enemy who wants to subvert and control us?" average people in western countries would have almost unanimously said that it's true. Unfortunately, those same people are now constantly using Chinese owned and operated services, and being tricked into believing all sorts of shit about "how strong China is" and "how weak and divided the West is".

Keep your heads on straight, guys. I can actually swim in the lakes nearby me, and maybe even drink some without dying. You cannot do that in China. You cannot do a LOT of things in China.

China does not have the consumer market required to counteract the loss of the US. On top of that, Canada's ports are basket cases, and will probably take a decade to unfuck.

No they can't without killing the CCP finally. Shanghai,Shenzen,Guangzhao are all within missle rain range of Taiwan. So, expect everything of importance to be flattened in those cities plus the three gorges dam as well.

It's funny (not really), because it seems to me that the age of "free speech" seems to be coming to an end. Was this the plan all along, with The Enlightenment, or would the fathers of said movement start burning their books if they saw what Liberalism would become?
 
Not a day goes by where I don't wish some form of benevolent dictatorship took over the country so that we could finally get shit back on track. I genuinely cannot remember the last time something positive happened in Canada that benefited the people. I understand perfectly well that control of the island chain, plus the American Navy, is how the USA keeps China under control. Both are fundamentally merchant powers, and merchants rule by controlling the oceans. It use to be the British, now it's America.

But if you read a little Chinese history you'll know how hive-minded they can be and how tolerant they are of horrendous losses. Saying they can't take an island literally next door despite having ~60x the population and being the factory of the world is just fucking retarded. Russia can prosecute a war in Ukraine with ~5x the population using an old industrial base and America considers itself hamstrung in that conflict. America gave up on defeating the Houthis and signed a compromise instead - and that's for a strait that feeds the Suez Canal. It doesn't matter how much America cares about controlling China; it doesn't have the firepower to execute its will.

How many millions of tonnes of ordinance have been used in the Ukro-Rus conflict? Are they flattened yet? Idiot. Do you really think Taiwan would blow up that dam and trigger a downstream tsunami when it would give the Chinese carte blanche to absolutely genocide the island in revenge? 90% of Taiwan's energy is imported, all China needs to do is blockade the island succesfully until it capitulates. China can even claim a 'humanitarian victory' by winning that way.

If you read a little Chinese history you'll know how despite their numbers, they're repeatedly conquered and ruled by people much less numerous than they, and they aren't successful at invading and conquering land themselves. (Unless that land was also controlled by other Chinese.)

Also, that bit about the Houthis - lmao. A compromise solved the issue (they were attacking shipping vessels because they were mad at israel, they then agreed to not do that anymore) so completely wiping them off the map became moot.

I agree - they're terrible at conquering and for the most part don't ever seem interested in it. The history of China's conquest is just fighting on that same patch of land over and over again. But I still think Taiwan is a small enough bite that they can pull it off - and the incentive is money. They managed to keep half of Korea communist after all.

And, since Taiwan is ethnically Chinese, it falls under the 'they do manage to conquer themselves' aspect. Like I said, I honestly think they're waiting for a rainy day. When and only when the CCP feels like they're going to lose control, they'll attack the island. For now they'll just keep maneuvering things to make it easier.

ANYWAY, this is a Canada thread. Not sure Carney can sell us out to the chinks anymore than we already are. The Laurentians are mostly interested in staying fat and in power and not thinking much about tomorrow.

Carney is pissing off the Natives. Cause he's fed up with them getting in the way of tapping into resources that would help pay down the national deficit. They're chimping out about Carney.

My schizo theory at the moment is, aside from wanting to build more houses, is that Carney is trying to undo ten years of Trudeau’s faggotry to make a name for himself by doing everything people said the Conservatives were going to do.

He’s only saying he’ll cooperate with the tribes just so he won’t be labelled as a racist. I get the feeling that the next few months are going to be interesting, at this rate. If I had to guess why, it might just be him trying to get Conservative support now that the NDP isn't relevant.
