A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

A call for PR because fuck it, why not change how we conduct elections to save the party in charge? Another ChatGPT generated twitter post from Sir Kier himself? An emergency call to parliament to bar Reform as a political party? Forced migrant hotels in Reform councils until the proles learn what's good for them?

I don't care what the future of the country looks like, I want Labour and the Tories to have ZERO seats and for every single candidate to have to go on PIP to earn an income.

The cope being that "not enough people were convinced" is so utterly insincere that it'll piss off absolutely everyone.

The unspecified “change” is presumably that half the population has been replaced with the 3rd world over 25 years, which is apparently non-negotiable, but he laments that the frog has been boiled fast enough to notice.
 
Reform have officially been denied a majority on Norfolk council - they can win 42 seats, which is exactly half of the total.

UPDATE: Now limited to 41 (40 victories with 1 seat to declare).

Part of the reason "newer" gimmiegrants are more insufferable than "older" ones is because societally, we've fallen apart.

Instead of welfare being a safety net to either support those poor bastards who genuinely can't do for themselves, or to help working people back on their feet, it's now a legitimate income source and people know what to do and say to maximize the money that they get. There's a laughably weak justice system that metes our piss poor sentences for the most heinous crimes. We allow, nay, accept, disgusting behavior. We let immigrants go back to places they claim are unsafe for holidays and worse, maintain second wives and families there.

We don't punish or shame shitty behaviour any more. We give them fucking translators to access government services so they don't even have to learn our language.

The older generation of them knew they were on thin fucking ice and knew their place and it made them less obnoxious than those who came after.

All of them must go but if you've got a sucking chest wound and a malignant melanoma then you deal with the chest wound first. And the newer ones are the sucking chest wound.

It’s an interesting point. Imagine all the data they must have from not only loyalty cards but checkout data paired with payment ID or even face from the till camera, they probably know not just how many but who their customers are to 99.9% accuracy, and how many they’re buying for.
Modern computer analysis is going to pull out patterns like personal product sales, consumption rates of different demographics and all sorts of shit, not just bulk totals.

Best way to get an accurate read on how many people are truly here is to work in a sewage farm. I'm 100% serious. More people, more poop,to put it bluntly. And I know someone who does and the output of shit indicates there's more people here than we think, all of the unaccounted ones are illegal and we don't actually know, really, how many there are.

This is the line that worries me and is etremely dangerous.

What The Pensioner, Farmer and Jew Harmer means by this is that his policies aren't wrong, he's just not enacting them fast enough. It will result, in true Socialist style, in a doubling down on everything he has done.
