A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

On the subjects of immigrants who have been here since the the 70s ect. I looked up the census data from 2001-21 the other day.

2001 87.5% White British
2021 74.4% White British

13% change in 20 years.

Thats why people are noticing, thats why this new wave is different from the old wave. 13 is a small number but it feels so much larger in the context of population density.

That's a sea change within a couple of years. Even two years ago that would not have happened.
Listening to the BBC all day results stream, they interviewed some oldsters in Birmingham - ‘I’ve been voting Labour for 50 years but enough is enough, it’s all them illegal immigrants coming over in boats’ and similar sentiments. The last time I bothered to listen to the BBC, last election, they either wouldn’t have dared say that or the interviewer wouldn’t have continued.

One of the more accurate yet stupid takes from the BBC

The geography of Labour support has become more pro-EU at this election.

On average the party's vote is down since 2022 by 19 points in wards where more than 60% voted Leave in 2016 - but by only 13 points where less than 40% did so.

Meanwhile, Labour's average share of the vote is 25% in pro-EU wards but only 15% in pro-Brexit ones.

This pattern helps account for the smaller drop in Labour support in London
"The people still voting Labour are pro-EU" is not a clever statement when they're getting decimated in the votes.

Looks like the Greens have started to see big jumps, they've gone from over 20 to 70 seats claimed. Still lagging Reform on 604 but they're past the Lib Dems results by a good way now.

If you extrapolate out to today it might be more like 25% !
It might honestly be even higher because there's always tourists who 'disappear' and live unaccounted for with friends and family. I believe Tesco came to the conclusion that the census is wrong by at least 5 million people and tons of people thought that was down to sheer greed (people buying what they don't need) but honestly I think that's bang on.

A fun little game to while away the time while waiting for results (and skiving off work): https://guesstheparty.co.uk/

Shows a photo of a candidate and you guess which party they are from. Pro-tip: if you see a brown person, just click reform - it's correct far too often.
My god we’re an ugly country.

My guidelines.
If they look maybe bloated stage of dead, Lib Dem or Labour.
Pedo stare = tory
wtf is that ? = green
Mystery meat or football shirt = reform

A full sweep of 9 from 9 for Great Yarmouth First. All councillors achieved at least 40% of the vote. They may well end up denying Reform a majority on Norfolk council.

More than 5 mil. Here's a typical sneer about it from 2015. The original source is an Independent article from 2007, now long deleted, which claimed that an unnamed retailer estimated the population was 15- to 20-million more than claimed. The 2001 census had us at 59 million, but even then people felt it was under-estimating, which is why they were looking for evidence to contradict it. There's never been an admission by Tesco, or any other retailer, but their sales figures nevertheless show there are either a lot of people buying a lot of wasted food, or that there are millions more people buying stuff than officially live in the country.

Honestly I buy around 7ish million in 2015 as people DO waste a lot of food in general and there's a lot of fatties about.

So my ballpark figures for 2026 would be around 10-12m people unaccounted for.

The Greens are putting the mentally handicapped into politics.

What the hell is going on ? Are people just taking the piss voting for them ?

They’re bribing the pakis and niggers wherever they can, and in too many parts of the UK the pakis and niggers make up an overwhelming majority.

Pretty good effort post but why ruin it by admitting to being a nigger lover in the first couple paragraphs
We don’t need purity spirals.

Realising the error of your past ways, seeing the situation for what it is and knowing the best way forward now is all that matters.

Too early to draw any conclusions but I get the feeling the Greens aren't seeing the gains they expected.
In the land of the Scots they will get MSPs and they're hoping for more of them than ever before. In a nutshell, for those who aren't aware:

"There are a total of 129 MSPs in the Scottish parliament: 73 who represent constituencies and 56 on the regional list vote. Each person is represented by 1 constituency MSP and 7 regional MSPs covering their region.

Constituency MSPs are elected through a first past the post system. Regional ‘list’ MSPs are elected through a proportional representation system known as the D’Hondt system."

I don't think there's likely to be any Green constituency MSPs, but there will be some from the lists. How many? Too many, probably.

Huge amounts of people were traditionally left wing due to having working class backgrounds, or family backgrounds. They voted Labour due to the idea that Labour were the best bet for ordinary working families. And it's ordinary working families who have suffered most from mass immigration. They are now swinging to vote for whoever they think is their best bet to reverse that or at least send the message that they want it reversed, and yesterday, that was for Reform.
There was an infiltration of ‘the left’ that caused it to abandon class distinction in favour of racial and ethnic distinction, with this truly coming to the fore about fifteen-twenty years ago. Many on ‘the left’ are just brainwashed useful idiots, but there are the informed few within their movements guiding the rest. Imagine a sea of people holding placards shouting, but a few stony-faced sunglasses-wearing fed-looking types among them checking that they’re behaving as expected. Like that.

There’s been a lot of discussion as to why this occurred and who drove the change, which I always find interesting.

- The ‘demands’ of Globalism/late-stage Capitalism (big business)

- “International banking”’s response to Occupy Wall Street

- Jewish academia (commie subversion)

All these things and more coalesced to flood Western countries with third world migrants and fuel a propaganda and indoctrination machine to accompany that.

Not schizo-posting, it’s just literally what happened. Global ‘think tanks’ and Bilderberg-type groups - many with overlapping members - just literally planned and executed this, and continue to today.

I’ve not got much beyond fedposting to add to this.

Suffice to say I consider these people to be very ill and an enemy of the UK. I’d like to see them removed with the minimum of fuss, their citizenship revoked and them sent to Gaza.

This one - given free rein to talk demented shit to The Guardian (also an enemy of the UK, in its entirety) - is from Northern Ireland, just like those ‘Kneecap’ faggots, what’s happening over there?

How brainwashed do you have to be to spend your life dedicated to people on the other side of the planet who are nothing like you, and who in fact diametrically oppose many of your core beliefs such as feminism and gay rights? As I say, ill.
