A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The only non-standard vaccines I've had was Hep, and a specific one for a disease I had to handle for work. Beats ending up at the hospital on an isolation ward, or dead.

I also knew a friend's brother who got scabies (I think, anyways, this is a really old story), but that was because his brother was a dirty cunt who learned the hard way why hygiene is so important.

I've been to a few thirdiestans courtesy of questionably cheap family holidays
Well it's only cheap if you get the coach, getting the train to birmingham is fucking expensive. I have no idea about any of my medical history, there's loads of shit that I'm sure if I described people would fucking shout at me to go get checked out that popped up and disappeared over the years but with how shit our gp is it's easier to just do nothing and wait for the problem to go away on it's own, much less painful or stressful than trying to book a gp appointment. They open normally just as I am getting to or still on the way to work, so it's a fucking ballache to even call them and if you don't call within about 10 minutes you're fucked and they won't even listen to what you say. If you do get the privilege of getting through to someone they'll always act in a way that makes you think maybe the incels were right about women. And if you do get an appointment it's either the next day and you have to make urgent changes and fuck over the rest of your life, or it'll be so far in the future that you'll probably be dead first. I have been to the gp one time, I didn't make an appointment like normal, I got the 101 person to look at my shit first and then put through some expedited appointment or something. I basically had to have a doctor diagnose me and put in a referral so I could get a doctor look at me to diagnose me. It's as if oxbridge invented the system.
Scots will have to continue offing themselves the old fashioned way; heroin, booze and deep fried food.
Good. Surprising but good.

Now we wait for the people to say we need unchecked immigration so that the pakis and afghans can bring in the heroin for the Scots to kill themselves with.

Not surprising given how much the Westminster equivalent has fallen apart in the Lords. The sleepy red benches have managed to kill the bill due to lack of time.

But as the saying goes, the can will be kicked down the road and it'll be introduced again in the next parliament session. They are adamant to get people into the suicide booths.

They will never stop pushing for assisted dying or euthanasia until they manage to pass such a bill, and then they'll keep changing it until it's as bad as Canada's MAID.

Pretty close vote (nice). Interesting that it wasn't along party lines. It'll be worth looking into the people who voted for it to see what their interest is in having people murdered.

It was delayed by the hereditaries, which is why they've finally pushed through the Lords reform and kicked the remaining ones out. I dread what will happen if or when they get the bill passed. I'll be booking my dad on a flight to somewhere hot and foreign for the rest of his life if they do. If he has to be done in by a brown nurse with a chip on her shoulder, it's better if he's somewhere warm.

My former MSP Margo Macdonald was a big fan of assisted dying. While I have a lot of sympathy for the situation she found herself in, I just cannot get behind the state being able to kill people.

The NHS already does via the Liverpool "Care" Pathway. They abuse it seven fucking ways to Sunday. What more do they bloody want?

Oh on the meningitis thing? I saw reference, tentatively, on the Daily Mail website to it being linked to vapes, but they didn't state whether they were contaminated or if it was spread by scutters sharing them. However I'm sure I've seen something along those lines before.

Legal cover. Liverpool leaves individuals and hospitals open to liability if it can be shown that they didn't properly assess the victim. It's also technically no longer allowed, though still used in practice by less scrupulous trusts, so there's a potential criminal aspect there as well. If you have a legal framework for the victim to sign a waiver first, then kill them, you're in the clear and have the bonus of freeing up a need in a predictable time frame.

Unfortunately the vaccine doesn't protect against all strains of bacteria that cause Meninigitis B. The baby girl currently in hospital was vaccinated, so it looks like the strain circulating in Kent is a particularly nasty (foreign?) one.
Oh no, if it isn't the unintended consequences of unlimited niggers and pakis being allowed in.

Every fucking day there's more rocket fuel that harms labour aand the tories and I cannot wait to see them both not even be the opposition come the next election.

Yes sharing vapes and drinks can spread it, it was mentioned in parliament iirc.

Cases are up to 20, likely due to the 2-14 say incubation period. Im trying not to be worried but a) its Keirs government, he will fuck this up, and b) how the fuck did the baby catch it?
We genuinely learnt nothing from Covid, the dangers of not government overreach, nor the dangers of open borders spreading disease. Everyone criticises Ellis Island for hosing down immigrants with delouser but holy fuck man bring that back

From looking at the bill. It seems there was an amendment to only those who have a terminal illness with six or less months to live that can apply for it. Which makes more sense than was proposed before.

At the very least it stops people with mental health issues taking the easy way out. But that doesn't solve all the issues surrounding assisted dying.

Angela Rayner's explosive speech reignites leadership speculation. We're off to the races. BBC hinting at its preferred candidate?

Badenoch seems to agree. Pressed Starmer about it just now in PMQs. He smuckled it off (as much as a robot can smuckle) like an ersatz Sargon, but he looks a bit rattled. Then again, he always looks a bit rattled. Mandelson still haunting him.

I was just about to post her speech and say you can all call me a faggot if she doesn't run for leadership in the next month. (X)
- Labour’s “running out of time” with its “very survival at stake” as populism rises

- Migration reforms are a “breach of trust” and “un-British”

- “A lot more to say” soon- “been waiting for this moment”
- Attacking the indefinite right to leave reforms by Shabana Mahmood, Rayner said: “Many people came here to Britain on the understanding that if they've worked in the sectors where we needed them, obeyed the law and paid their taxes, that they could stay. If we suddenly change that, it pulls the rug from under those that have planned their lives and commitments and they're contributing to our economy and to our society. That would not just be bad policy, but a breach of trust. The people already in the system who made a huge investment now fear for their future. They do not have stability and they do not know what will happen. We cannot talk about earning a settlement if we keep moving the goal posts, because moving the goal post undermines our sense of fair play. It's un-British”
Attacking her own party's decisions is not a good sign for cohesion. She harps on about foreigners earning a settlement and being unable to plan their lives and commitments after contributing, but what about the British people?
- It’s Labour’s “job to show the British people whose side we're on. Like other social democratic parties across the West, the very survival of the Labour Party is at stake. And it's that serious for us, because political parties do not have the right to exist”

- “We cannot just go through the motions in the face of decline, there's no safe ground for us, and we're running out of time”
I am retarded and I can't quite word what I'm trying to say; but one would think, if your ideals and views are the Correct Ones and great, you would not be in a fight to survive as a political party? Unless I'm supposed to believe everyone is bewitched by nasty right wingers, or something.

Apparently Ed Davey, leader of the Lib Dems, called in parliament for GB News to be investigated by OFCOM for political biases or something like that. The broadcasters were surprised by this, seeing as he apparently had a very pleasant interview with one of the presenters on the weekend. If it ends up happening and they get fined or something, does that mean every news source can now be reported to OFCOM for any biases?

Only the news sources that OFCOM don't agree with so don't expect the likes of the BBC to get it's due

The Mysterious Universe lads stopped doing dumb conspiracy and UFO podcasts and moved onto politics. They are more or less inline with the thread if you fancy trying something new. Bit soft here and there but good chemistry and it fills 2 hours while you work on things.

On one hand, I'm happy the UK didn't get pulled into another war in the middle east (yet), on the other hand I'm upset it could make Starmer and Labour look good plus I also feel it would have been wise to send in token support to avoid offending America.
