A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Remember him from the Epping protests being BASED? The people of Epping must feel particularly BASED having a local like this leading the charge. Except he's not local. He's one of Tommy Robinson's enforcers, Glen Saffer. Remember how I said the Tommy tards like to get ahead of anyone expressing any sort of nationalist sentiment and infiltrate protest groups, co-opt organisations etc? Lets hear what our boy Glen has to say about nationalists...
The typically "anyone being nationalist is a Nazi argument".

Tommy and his lot really do need to go. Not only do the co-opt everything they get involved with and make it about them but they are so easy for the media to use as a bogeyman and tar any movement they are a part of. The constant shilling for Israel/jews and pushing out actual nationalists just makes it all worse.

It's almost like he's an intentional part of the government's control of right wing sentiment growing. None of this flag shit had anything to do with Tommy but he's being put as the poster child for it.

Fuck you.
Unless you're prime Cilla Black I'm not interested.

Of course, of fucking course. See I cannot even in good faith listen to Lotus Eaters, or British Landour, because they mention these people. I feel some of these people are misled, but others do it with no shame at all.

This is why it makes me laugh when people will say the likes of Tommy aren't state sponsored. Once any nationalist organisation starts making waves the state moves in. The BNP, Combat 18, the British Movement; they were all infiltrated. To the extent that in some cases they were outright ran by the intelligence services.

Take Combat 18 as a standout example. Their leader, Charlie Sargent, was under MI5's wing. At the same time as he was running Combat 18 he was feeding information back to MI5. Anything minor was waived, but if anything planned was enough of a threat to the state it was shut down. It was Combat 18 that was used to attack the BNP when they started gathering momentum. Sargent outlived his usefulness in the end and when Chris Castle was murdered he was sent down alongside Martin Cross (both got life sentences if I remember correctly).

The BNP were infiltrated by both the Met's Special Demonstration Squad and Searchlight. They weren't just operating on the sidelines either. They were in the inner circle of the BNP. John Tyndall, being the fuckwit he was, refused to act when told about this, and the rest is history.

It doesn't matter how large or serious your organisation is, once you're on the radar you're fair game.

Totally off topic so I'm sorry but if anyone wants a LOL: I just had galloping hiccups. In a bid to scare me,about ten minutes into hearing me squeak like a retard, his nibs says, totally deadpan, looking me in the eyes, "trans women are women".

This was 40 minutes back and I've not hiccuped since.

He said he wanted to scare me, I guess that troons are terrifying.

We're into that cycle of the thread again I see.
Doomers have the same narrative on every board. See below.

No idea if this is true or not but by this logic there is literally no condition for success or change ever. What is the actual solution other than total anarchy?

The saying goes "You cannot vote your way out of the system". What that means is up to you. But the current system is so strongly reinforced there's no way to undo it's tentacles grasp on everything from inside it.

Outside of pray for another Operation Clockwork Orange (but for real this time) just look at how the political system in the UK was co-opted by the left post-WW II. They saw the big picture and planned decades ahead. Thats the one advantage you have over a fixed term government. Party politics are like a mayfly. Pure ideology can last for as long as there are people alive to represent it.

Most Welsh people don't hate the English.

There's banter between Welsh and English over sports (especially Rugby Union) but as to actual hatred, nope. Not even the edgy boys and girls of Plaid truly hate England.

It reminds me of the old Jasper Carrott joke, when you ask a Welshman or Scotsman about hating the English:

'Well, do you hate me?'

'No, you're alright.'

'You're a Manchester United fan, so I guess you don't hate Mancs?'

'No I don't hate them either.'

'Scousers?'

'Only in the football. Love The Beatles'

'Geordies?'

'No I don't hate them, great laugh and great bunch of people.'

'Yorkshire Folk?'

'No, they're great!'

'Midlanders?'

'No they're alright as well.'

Here's what and who they hate:

LONDONISATION.

The fact that London has too much power and control, and that the Welsh are literally and figuratively miles away from having a say in things which effect their lives. London has succeeded at the expense of the rest of the country - the wealth isn't evenly distributed.

The Senedd has made things worse though - for London, read Cardiff. Welsh people outside of Cardiff hate Cardiff. The Rhondda, Cynon and Merthyr valleys sent the coal down to Cardiff, the city prospered and the Valleys didn't - if you ever get the chance, listen to the song called 'Come Home Rhondda Boy' by David Alexander, which is a calling to the young men who left the Valleys after the First World War and being told that their pay would be reduced during the 1920s. The Miners doubled down and went on strike:

'Not a minute off the day, not a penny off our pay.'

Eventually, the strikes were called off and the men who faced hardships during the war then had to mine more coal for less pay.

Even with a Labour Government in charge (Ramsay McDonald was PM, Labour's first ever PM) they were badly let down.

Got to get in on this, absolutely. I've worked all over the country and it is always something relatable. Southern poofs, sheep shagging Welsh, incomprehensible Scots, put them all in a room and the true enemy will always be Londoners. Their irritating accent, self satisfaction, bug hive resident outlook on life, fuck them. In my area of the norf scousers are the usual easy target but we would still share a pint with one of them than a Londoner.

.......what? What does that even mean? Like, you have Incan ancestry or something?
They've got a history of terrible spelling. Predominately focused on eliminating the letter "u" from words and confusing "s" and "z."
