A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I'm English, not Welsh. It's just the catgirls I like are Welsh,

And yeah, the issue is pretty extreme. I'm thankfully not living inside of a major city so there's a lot of issues I avoid (I would hate to live in London). So that's a bit of isolation from the worst of it.

Issue is, there's no way you're ever going to just be able to blanket-deport 1st and 2nd generation immigrants. Especially 2nd-generation legal migrants.

You've kinda got to do multiple things to get close to that. Deport illegals, throw the book at legal migrants who commit crimes, foster national identity such that anyone who doesn't integrate will be the outsiders, and massively reduce the handouts so that if you arrive with nothing to your name, you won't just get chucked into a nice apartment with an allowance and all your utilities paid for while you work an under-the-counter job or become a Deliveroo driver.

That's probably about as far as you can go. And even then, many would consider this plan of action to be an extremist stance.
That's a fair and reasonable stance, though I would deport all Muslims. Their religion is not compatible with British-ness and traditional British values.

TIL Wales has catgirls.

Saying you want to remove only some brown people is pushing the problem down the road. If a small number have grown to this many leaving any will mean your grandchildren face the same replacement problem as you are.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't vote in 2019 and although I'm thinking about voting now, I don't think it would be for any of the main parties. It probably be for some party that would never win. I'll look at the Scottish family party.

What are the most interesting third-parties you've read about? They don't have to be viable, serious or stand any chance of winning. I read about one called the English Liberal Democrats who want England to have an independence referendum. I also read the Britain First manifesto a few years ago. Their plans were to completely stop all immigration, offer rewards for immigrants to leave, punish companies for using imported goods and labour and a focus on Christian values at schools. It might have changed a bit since then though.
I think people are getting confused - there's the Liberal Democrats who are the 3rd party in UK politics and well-established. There are also the English Democrats, who are a sort of right-wing libertarian party with a reputation for being full of cranks and "Why isn't there an International Men's Day?!" type people. They've been around a long time and it's a good day when they manage triple digit votes in a constituency.
There is no way you can retake the island while being nice to the people invading it. Do you think the crusaders went 'Now now, lets not free Europe from Muslim occupation in a nasty way. We have to be nice to them'? There really isn't an option to remove these people, a sizeable amount were born here and you have to get rid of them some where.

This is an upgrade from UKIP.

Farage is controlled opposition for 3 main reasons.
1. He's allowed to speak in public and is not immediately shut down, deplatformed, arrested and debanked the way every other right winger is. This is a huge red flag.
2. He's very buddy buddy with Trump who is the same controlled opposition where he wants to 'Make American great again' while giving money to the people shitting up America. Farage isn't interested in solving the problem, he wants to blow the smoke away for a little longer hoping everyone will suddenly turn friendly to each other.
3. When he ran UKIP they had an Israeli lobby calling the shots in the background. If the UK independence party has to bow to the Israeli lobby it's not very independent is it?
You can always call anyone controlled opposition if your tinfoil hat is big enough. They tried to de-bank him and it cost the head of a major bank her job, and caused the Tories to introduce legislation making it illegal to de-bank people because of their opinions (that and Paypal shutting Toby Young's account down). If that's not enough to prove he's not one of Them then I don't know what tell you. Ted Kaczynski was controlled opposition because his ideas were associated with terrorism to discredit them? Hitler was controlled opposition because he invaded Russia during the winter and lost on purpose? Atilla the Hun was controlled opposition because he "died" before sacking Rome?
They can't catch a break. Between getting fucked by Saville and nearly alluha akbar'd, why would a nurse work there?
There's a reason all our nurses are brown. Say what you want about immigrants, but they're used to living in mud-huts working 19-hour shifts in a sweatshop for 3 Dong a day, so living in fucking Salford or somewhere and wiping old ladies' arses is at the very least a side-grade, and they can send some money home to their family where it will go a really long way. White Brits don't want to do that work. They have grandfathered social housing, know the benefits system inside-out and can always take cash jobs or sell drugs if they need booze money. The problem is that for someone like that, working would represent a downgrade of their quality of life. Why would you ever give up sitting on your sofa all day watching ITV in favour of being spat at by junkies in A&E for 60 hours a week for less money? I don't think you would make that choice in that position either. Working isn't worth it unless you have a family to support who aren't on benefits. The whole system is fucked and will remain so until we can work out how to get chavs off their arses. The immigrants come for the jobs until they can qualify for benefits then they weld themselves to the sofa as well.

I wonder why the NHS is full of foreigners.

It has been in place at Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust since July 2018 for staff in senior positions, but was expanded in recent months to any role within the trust. If a white candidate is chosen, the panel chairman must write a report explaining why they were ‘more suitable’ for the role. It does not apply the other way around. They must also provide ‘justification’ as to why any ethnic minority candidate was not chosen and provide detailed ‘scoring notes’ as evidence. Alongside this, they are required to suggest how the failed applicants can ‘develop their experience, skills, or amplitude’ for a better chance next time. The report must then be sent to the trust’s chief executive, Caroline Clarke, within ten working days. Failure to do so sees them named and shamed in the trust’s monthly Workforce Race Equality progress report.

It's almost like there's a direct attack on hiring white people and offering a reasonable UK wage. As opposed to shipping in more jungle bunnies and offering them pennies to live in a flat with 10 of their cousins.

I've seen some people on here say that Nigel Farage is planted opposition. What makes you think that? I don't know much about him other than that he used to be a banker and that he's a right-wing populist. I've been told that populism is overall bad, as a populist politician will always have to change his plan to whatever's popular at the time, meaning nothing that gets started gets complete unless done quickly (which the system mostly prevents).
Because Kiwi Farmers are prone to conspiratorial thinking.

GB News made me realise just how much people look to the TV to decide what opinions are acceptable or not. When I had reservations about the vaccine, my parents and family would call me a conspiracy theorist and I ended up succumbing to their pressure to take it, yet once hosts on GB News started questioning it, they also started questioning it. I've also noticed it with climate change, immigration and probably some other topics.
Very much this. I was shocked at the "spontaneous" outbursts for "our NHS", until I found out that the news channels were effectively encouraging it. For someone who doesn't really watch TV, the influence it has over people is alarming.

The whole system is fucked and will remain so until we can work out how to get chavs off their arses.
This is the root cause of so many problems in Britain today. I wish politicians would address it. Having high unemployment and a high number of vacancies at the same time is ridiculous.

They went for both deplatforming and debanking. They probably would have tried to get him arrested had their debanking effort worked and not caused everyone to absolutely flip their shit so much that it is now straight up illegal to even try and pull that shit again.
2. He's very buddy buddy with Trump who is the same controlled opposition where he wants to 'Make American great again' while giving money to the people shitting up America.
They are trying to throw him in jail forever and strip him of his money and buildings. You have a funny definition of controlled opposition.

Keep a stiff upper lip lad! We're all gonna.. drown in a river of blood on the designated shitting country.
Well, the Japanese had an Order to Expel the Barbarians (攘夷実行の勅命) that put the final nails in the Shogunate . There's no real leader universally acknowedged in the West for that (I guess Charles III could do it for GB theoretically, he might end up adding a few traditions to parliment like his namesake predecessor). I think there will be some sort of event like the Massacre of the Latins or the Boxer Rebllion* (Or the whole Missionaries and locals killing each other thing) but with the goverment against the populace.

There will be blood shed, and it'll be the only thing we'll know for real.
Also. We might need to look to Shinzo Abe. We're gonna hit a population crisis. Basically everyone I know below 30 has totally written of the idea of ever having kids.
There's no real solution so far (tried) to this. I've seen an argument that goverment debt to GDP ratio is inversley proportionate with birth rates, as well as the rate of education (and economic independence) for women.

I just don't seeing the west going full Taliban and Sharia law on women for the education/social life thing thing (Parts of the west and their/our view on women's rights are fundamentally incompatible with Islam historically), and I'm not sure how you can be a first world nation and not in a high debt-to-gdp inflation spiral because everyone in a central bank idolizes Keynesians.

*I have a few family stories about that and they make ISIL look tame.

I thought they were the English wing of the lib dems? I am willing to be completely wrong on that mind - are there two separate parties with such similar names?
We also had the monster raving loonies, not sure if they’re still around …
Saw a MRL candidate listed for Brighton pavilion.

I want to run for the MRL as Lord Faggot. I'll chase kids around shouting "LET ME READ YOU A STORY!" while dressed as Satan. Then offer everyone free porn mags on TV (do they sell those any more?) like that guy did bananas a few years back.

NHS had 7,500 Spanish nurses it its employment in 2017, but since then , this number has dropped significantly. So nurses of which nationality are replacing them...?

I had to visit the A&E department of a hospital in Spain (not in a tourist resort) not so long ago. Every member of staff, from receptionists, to doctors, to nurses, to cleaners to security, all appeared to be Spanish. Not a single Indian or African seen anywhere.

And the ones that are there look like Tumblr rejects and barely fit through doors.

It's worse when you witness it first-hand in your own family. Several of my immediate family have been royally fucked over by the local trust at one time or another, but every single one of them spun on a sixpence to praise the very same institution when the order to "save are en aych ess" came down. Clapping like bloody seals at the door because TV told them to, but carefully, in case they crossed the threshold and caught a fatal case of Suddenly.

Wage suppression is part of it. Nobody wants to work shit jobs for low wages, especially when you can sit on your todd and earn more on bennies than any job would pay - but that applies to immigrants as well. They come here, suppress wages by their mere presence in the job market, and then claim benefits because it pays better. I'm not going to speak to the educational and cultural side of things (zoomer laziness or whatever), because while I have a lot of opinions, they're poorly formed and probably wrong.

It doesn't matter, as long as they don't require three to six years of expensive training and don't demand the sort of wages a native would expect. That's the real reason the NHS is hiring abroad; it's cheaper, meaning that more of the budget can be expended on the bureaucracy. Every nurse trained in the UK and paid a reasonable wage is another pay rise denied to an entitled NHS manager.

There's no real solution so far (tried) to this [low birth rates].
I wonder which will be the first country to take this as seriously as it merits. Off the top of my head, we could try to
  • Put some multiplier on the state pension by number of children (so a childless person gets £0, someone with 2 kids gets the same as before, someone with more kids gets more money)
  • Give men the same parental leave as women
  • Give mid-to-high earners big tax breaks for having kids so the cost of lost career time is lower
  • Bring back section 28 and abolish gay marriage
  • Scrap all affirmation-based treatment of gender and sexual deviancy and make it solely about reverting to normalcy
  • Ban hormonal contraceptives (not just for encouraging parenthood but because they're fucking up the bodies and minds of women)
  • Stop taking in immigrants and keep revoking visas until house prices drop by at least half
  • Add 300% tariffs on video games and streaming services
  • Literally just bribe young people to go outside and meet people - Bring in a scheme where random samples of 18-25yos can all go to a local place at a certain regular time slot and get some free food or something
These are the kind of measures of a country that is actual taking the extinction of its own people seriously, but I've not seen any country doing anything on the level of any of these.

These are all rather unnecessary.

It's not propaganda, it's the collapse of the economy combined with a police state and a lack of productivity on a personal basis. Everything is tied to land and energy, both of which are controlled by force. There's no way you can meet people, because pubs and social events are impossible to organise without several layers of grifters demanding a slice, with the backing of the state. You can't travel, nor go anywhere local - if you're young, there's nothing for you except screen "work", sleep and internet.

It's the same as herds of sheep, and their relationship with dogs. The sheep get "worried" - they are too stressed to reproduce. And the layers upon layers of grifting conmen who form the bulk of the country's "economy" depend on that stress to "earn" a living.

That said, bouncing back wouldn't be too hard, either - despite the numbers seeming harsh in contrast to the third-world breeders, there are all manner of problems they have as a result. Most can't actually make most of what they need to survive - and certainly not at the required volumes. Look at what happens when Indians try to run a chemical plant, for example. The UK, surprisingly, still can - if you raid some charity shops, antique shops and such, you can get ahold of the "means of production" at a low cost. Entire boxes of hand tools for £20, mechanical presses for the same amount - you can build almost everything which isn't technologically advanced (i.e computerised, or certain processes and catalysts); that means everything in a rural or suburban setting.

Ban hormonal contraceptives (not just for encouraging parenthood but because they're fucking up the bodies and minds of women)
You have to make people want to have kids, not force or trick them into it. This policy would just galvanize 90% of the population into opposing you while encouraging the worst and least responsible people to reproduce.

If you want birthrates to go up, do the following:

1) Ban prostitution and pornography.

2) Limit access to all types of contraception, except condoms. Put the responsibility for pregnancy free sex on men, and watch the birth rate soar.

3) Another helpful thing would be to deport a few million dumb, brown people. One thing that hold birthrates back, is the need of prospective parents to buy a home where the schools are not populated by low-IQ rape apes. What you are paying for when you buy a home, is not just brick and mortar, it is the quality of your neighbours.

The easiest way to increase the birth rate would be to bring back child tax credits (which got shunted over to UC) and make them universal, so anyone working gets money off their tax bill for having kids - but it doesn't incentivise people to have kids for free money, since they'd have to be working to get the benefit in the first place.

Then either do something about the prohibitive cost of childcare (potentially by extending the free childcare hours to more people), or start working on changing the salary structure so a one income household can support a family. Currently people tend to be in the situation that they either don't have kids because they can't afford the prohibitive cost of childcare, or they end up living hand to mouth for a few years as one parent stays home because it's still somehow cheaper than trying to pay for childcare but not enough to live comfortably. I do definitely agree with matching paternity leave to maternity leave.

The idea of having some sort of social mixer for young people would also be beneficial. I think you need more carrot than stick in this scenario because you've got to work with the population you've got - zoomers are already having far less sex than previous generations; if you ban contraception they're just going to freak out and have even less sex. You also wouldn't have the popular support to implement a no-contraception policy; it'd be opposed by a significant number of MPs, likely shut down by the Lords if it wasn't in your manifesto (and if it was, you wouldn't be getting a majority in the Commons anyway) and probably overturned by the High Court - which would then mean you'd need to introduce primary legislation overruling the High Court, which again is not going to pass muster on this issue.

So if your policy hinges on "Step One: Overthrow the government and install yourself as dictator", it's probably not a very effective policy.
