A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I always found it funny as hell how people assume that right wing parties are fueled by Russian propaganda when the Green party is literally the most obvious Russia shill party in existence.

Their energy policies are completely retarded, and as they violently oppose nuclear they lay the argument that we should be putting solar panels and wind turbines EVERYWHERE as some sort of fifth columnist way of discrediting solar and wind, which conveniently leaves people going "fine, we'll use gas instead". Who sells gas? Or more, who will sell gas when the inevitable Ukraine shitstorm ends?

They're the smug leftist vote where they'll say they've budgeted for all of their policies (they haven't) and will go further with every retarded leftist policy around. Fuck it why not give UBA to trannies, why not use the social budget to build a bomilan mosques, why not give paki asylum seekers basket weaving courses etc.

Remember that extremist parties from both ends of the spectrum have the highest potential for national sabotage, but it's always funny how one side conveniently never gets audited.

The mistake people make is thinking Russia funds people who will promote its interests. That's often a beneficial side effect, but it's not the primary goal of Russian information warfare. Instead, they fund whoever will promote disunity and dissent amongst their opposition. One of the little-acknowledged facts of "russian interference" in brexit campaigning, or in Trump's first election campaign, was that the Russians funded extremist positions on all sides of the argument. They funded pro and anti-brexit ads and groups equally, in order to promote the most retarded voices and create the most political and social conflict. Same with Trump and Clinton. The idea is to weaken the enemy, rather than bring him around to Russia's viewpoint, because an enemy that is fighting itself will be too busy and disorganised to stab Russia in the back or oppose its actions.

Most of the way they seem to budget is to produce a study that suggests for each £1 spending on whatever it is they want to spend on will return £2+ to the economy. We can all fudge a return of investment study spend loads of money for 4 years and then fuck off never to be seen again but it isn't the same as actually making a budget.

Spending on cycling is a good example for this, it makes up 1% of transport if that nationally or 2% in London and a few other cities. Years ago in/before 2013 someone did a study very limited scope, very selective criteria but it's been parroted for years as tho spending on any/all cycling things is like printing money.

Why is the UK buying gas from the USA, Russia and Middle East when off the shores of Morecambe Bay and North East Scotland riddled with caverns of natural gas that are predicted to lasts for 20 years?

One of the funny things about retarded leftist policies regarding the closure of roads is that they don't grasp how freight and sanitation works. You cut off all access to vehicles across a small town and all of a sudden every business will have to relocate. Even the cute cafes need trucks to bring their bags of coffee beans and pastries and bin lorries to get a weeks worth of customer waste to the tip.

But no, lets just cut off all the roads because everyone will cycle and we'll live in a beautiful chocolate box city.

It's immediate thinking.
What can `I do that will make a change that is noticeable tomorrow.

If you look at western socialist thinking, it's about solving problems today, regardless of tomorrow. Give the train drivers a £200k salary, they are worth it today. Tommorow some else will automate.

Nah, they’re all paedophiles. Every last one of them.
yeah, forgot to add that.

Because our rulers hate us. Cheap energy? Can’t have that. It’s let us increase food security and bring heavy industry back. Itd span the gap while we build nuclear plants.
We could then have clean energy, and clean cheap heavy industry.
But they hate us

How is Hislop these days? He's still on the BBC so he has to have been whipped into political correctness right?
Toeing the line like a coward.

Don't have to go far back in the Have I Got News For You archives to see him going off on the EU, Labour and even Soros like some of us might on here. Now he's a one-stop shop of every single joke you've already heard a hundred times each week on the BBC.

Who or what has made him toe the line, and why, I wonder...

They are not increasing food security, they are actively paying farmers to not farm food crops.
They are reducing self reliace on energy in favour of buying in electricity from France, oil from the Middle East and gas from the USA.
Has you basic utility bill reduced lately?

No it’s doubled. If we had cheap energy, we could do things like bring steel production back. We could heat greenhouses and grow crops. But they won’t do this. I believe that refusing to give your country energy independence when you could is treason.

Reeves was picked because she has a PPE from Oxford, a degree in economics from the London school of economics, and worked for the bank of England prior to politics. On paper she should be good at her job
That's the problem with credentialism. Credentials can be bought. What the fuck did she actually accomplish at any of those things? Has she managed to do anything except climb the ladder?

I believe that refusing to give your country energy independence when you could is If you look at Clarkson's Farm Amazon show you will see the problem that uk farmers face. However, if you look at Harrys Farm on Youtube, which I believe Clarkson based his show on ( they are neighbours and old mates) Harry in the last few weeks turned his farm over to

She was not in Accounting at The Bank of England, she was in HR.

She is a serial liar and and terminal incompetent.

I know through family an economy professor. He mentored Both Jeremy Hunt and Reeves.

He rated both as fucking incompetents.

She was a low ranking customer service drone. PPE at Oxford gets you connections, that’s why people do it. Wish I’d done it tbh.
Unironically TDS. Private eye is absolutely drek these days
It is isn’t it? It used to be great, and now it’s not. I notice the staff has shifted from primarily male cocaine-fags-n-booze at lunch terrier journos to young women as well. Trebles all round, as long as it’s ok with my Xanax, darling
