https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Interesting little thing I saw to round off the excellent week for Schadenfreude enjoyers.

Top names to lose their seat if an election were held tomorrow:
- Kier Starmer (Prime Minister)
- Angela Rayner (Deputy PM)
- Rachel Reeves (Chancellor)
- Yvette Cooper (Home Secretary)
- Wes Streeting (Health Secretary)
- Ed Miliband (Green Wankery Secretary)

Every single possible future leader of Labour: gone.

Sir Keith Daily Stormer might be the first sitting Prime Minister to lose his seat.

The prime minister himself had his constituency vote drop by 17 percent at the last general election when challenged by a left-wing and pro-Gaza independent. As of today it looks set to drop another 14 percent, leaving him vulnerable to losing his seat in Holborn and St Pancras to tactical voting for a candidate uniting Starmer's Labour and non-Labour critics.

Labour politicians being voted out by Muslims they desperately imported. Poetic.

Double post but separate.

Ed Miliband was supposed to announce the new electricity zonal pricing system today. I think I saw in this thread a few pages back someone talking about how the Octopus Energy had a massive hard-on for these changes (presumably so energy companies have more direct debit money to gamble with).

No. 10 have taken control of the announcement after the past week and aren't letting Miliband announce it. Also news that civil servants working in No. 10 are desperately scrambling to leave the job after how horrible the past year has been.

Are we about to see the Government laying low for a few weeks to let this whole thing blow over? Do they not realise that a budget is due shortly?

Not just No. 10. Pretty much every person I know who works for the Civil Service atm is at breaking point because there's been hiring freezes in place since 2021 in some areas. The squeeze is hitting a point where some services are completely broken.

I go by the Civil Servant Drinking Index (CSDI), where once you discover someone in Spoons is a Civil Servant, the more drunk they are the more overworked their department is. Bonus points for how much confidential information you can get out of them by ordering them a pint.

This is the most engaged I've ever seen people be for British politics. Everyone hates Labour so much they want to see them fail and can't look away.

The British public are bloodthirsty suffering hounds when it comes to public figures. Nothing we love more than sadistically watching political figures self immolate.

Unless it was well known among certain groups of people prior to everything coming out a year after his death (I'm only aware of Johnny Rotten knowing the truth before that)
Ian Hislop was sat next to him when he was a guest on Have I Got News For You and was visibly disgusted by some of the things Saville said. I don't know if Hislop knew the full extent (I hope not) but he certainly had some idea of Saville's unsavoury reputation. And if Hislop did then it was pretty common knowledge he was up to no good. If they didn't know it's because they didn't want to know and avoided looking because finding out would put them in the position of having to choose whether to act or not. So I imagine there were decades of wilful ignorance going around and punishment of anyone who threatened that ignorance. I don't know but that's the usual way.

For anyone interested, it's a great episode featuring none other than Dianne Abbott (shortly before her short stint as the presenter on Countdown).

I personally know someone who met Saville when she was about 8 years old and even she knew he wasn't "right" back then. Decided to stay with her friends.

If a child that young can sense it then having to sit next to this man for over an hour of filming sounds horrific. Hislop used to be very acerbic and brutal during the Angus Deayton episodes and you can see he's really holding back.

Especially after that "I'm feared in every girls school in the country" comment Saville makes. Chilling.

I feel personally called out. How did you know I'm an autistic wikiposting faggot?
You're not. You're a mod sock or alt account. I don't care which.

Same as the paki rape gangs; everyone knew. Everyone in leeds knew he was a pervert and a nonce. When he Dj'd at a club called Flares, he would invite young (15 and below) aged girls back stage with him. The bouncers were paid off to turn a blind eye and the drinking laws were a bit more lapse back then.
When he visited the kids hospitals, everyone knew what he was doing.

It was easier to keep people quiet without the internet. No negative stories would be printed, no news items on his noncing would be aired. He kept those in power in his pocket and paid for community projects to keep his public name as clean as possible. Hi spent £40 million on charity projects, working with the disabled and mentally ill. His TV personality on "Jim'll fix it" was giving sick/poor kids the chance to live their dream. He was a real life santa clause in the eyes of the wider public. Back home, though, everyone knew he was a nonce.

but that's just how people from Leeds act.
Even though this comment is probably in jest, it's the reason why saville wasn't stopped. The same reason why nobody cared to look twice when 'thicko, northern, council estate slags from a rough up-bringing' were accusing pakis of industrialised rape.

Many such cases.

How is Hislop these days? He's still on the BBC so he has to have been whipped into political correctness right?
You're not. You're a mod sock or alt account. I don't care which.
It was a joke.

That is interesting. Whilst both have been used as protest parties, the parties themselves are very adversarial in their policies. A lot of Green Party voters are women, often more mature ones. I wonder how many have been turned off by the Green Party's determinedly Transwomen are Women stance and its pro-immigration stance ("all migrants are treated as citizens in waiting").
Based off my experience, they're usually the most persistent at knocking on doors, and the lower-ranking members of the party aren't usually the hyper-insane lunatics closer to the top that are immediately off-putting.

My one-time vote for the green party was in a local election, as they were the only ones who bothered to knock on my door instead of just carpeting the floor in front of my door with leaflets. Based on that, I imagine they get: the indifferent, the left/environmentalists and the protest-votes (who overlap with the indifferent).
It's not hard to understand why Saville got away with it until his death, his persona seems really off and icky to most people here but that's just how people from Leeds act.
One man's eccentric is another's pedo.
I just find it curious, it’s the natural extension I suppose of this ‘there is no difference between us’ mentality that’s been pushed. When you see stuff like this you see just how big the gap is. And you see how much that idea has been pushed at us all. Was this the vanguard for the tranny stuff, I wonder? Softening people up for the Troon invasion?
I think so, even if many of the underlying justifications aren't completely known to the trannies and their allies.

"Critical Feminist Theory" (which is responsible for the modern "there's no differences" sentiment) managed to subvert the old definition of "Feminism" right, where the latter was once just advocacy for equal rights (which were achieved), whereas the former insisted that oppression still exists and is perpetuated at both the subconscious level (both men and women) and institutional level (also men and self-serving women) that even if not explicit, was still there.

It mostly comes down in the end to psychological stuff, like, early psychological stuff, which was largely just philosophy and metaphysics (Kant did irreversible damage to humanity if you look at everything he inspired). It's all very "mind over matter", and Queer Theory (the basis for modern trannydom) is built on the foundation of Critical Theory to reach the conclusion that "Men can become women, and the only reason they hadn't before is because of oppression and psychological self-repression". For Critical Feminist Theory, it's also literally, "Women are just as capable at anything as men are, they just don't do stuff because of male oppression and psychologically self-limits".

I've bloviated on this subject a ton elsewhere, but to make a long-story short:

Marxism: History is driven by class struggle and that a capitalist system inevitably leads to exploitation of the working class. In subsequent "theories" you can replace "class struggle" and "working class" with anything.

Freud: Unconscious desires and internalised repression can help sustain ideological control and social domination. Freudian sexuality also posits that human sexual development begins in childhood and progresses through psychosexual stages, with unconscious desires and conflicts — especially those centred around the family — shaping personality and behaviour (this + sexology = tranny/trans kids justification).

Critical Theory: Societal structures, especially those tied to power and capitalism, must be critically examined and challenged to reveal and overcome oppression and inequality. Influenced by Marxist lens of history, but also combined with Freudian psychoanalysis. (Reality isn't necessarily objective or self-evident because individual psychology can shape perception)

Post-Structuralism: Meaning, knowledge, and truth are not fixed or objective but are shaped by language, power, and cultural context, making all interpretations inherently unstable and open to critique. (There's no such thing as an objective truth because all truths are an equation of other things)

Feminist Theory: Analyses how systems of power and oppression — particularly patriarchy, capitalism, and racism — intersect to shape gender inequality and seeks to challenge and transform those systems. (Women in society are put into enforced roles, even if they willingly enter into those roles, it's because they've been conditioned to.)

Critical Queer Theory: Societal norms construct and regulate sexuality and gender. Seeks to deconstruct binaries like heterosexual/homosexual and male/female in order to challenge systems of power and promote liberation for all gender and sexual identities. (Similar to women conditioning themselves, men and women have been conditioned into their gender-identities and sexualities by self-perpetuation. This is why trannies and trans kids didn't exist before now - conditioning and language)

You can chuck sexology in there somewhere but I'd argue Freud is enough. I'm sure you've already heard of John Money - his "study" was discounted after the full extent of what he did came out but the concept that gender was mostly mental had already embedded itself "in the science" and fed into the arguments of the Critical Queer Theorists and Feminist Theorists that it was all just mental so the damage was already done.

TLDR: Yeah, in a way, because "mind over matter", "societal truths are a creation to oppress", "objective reality is less important than our individual perception of it", and "to end oppression we must subvert societal norms", are all embedded in Critical Theory and its derivatives. It's kind've like religious ecumenicalism: one theory (Feminist theory) isn't any less invalid than another theory (Queer theory) even if there's disagreements over minutia. You support one you support all of them. Critical race theory (BLM and shit) -> Feminist theory (Gender wage gap, patriarchy, 3rd wave feminism) -> Queer theory (Non-heteros are oppressed, men/women oppressed by being locked in a binary, trannies have always existed).

Last year a stone went through the back window of the London cab he took and he went to social media claiming he was shot at. Police called and everything.

That's the only recent thing I remember from him.
Drive by with catapults? That's proper traditional. Hope they used a bike to do it.
In the British Thread? We'll have none of those shenanigans here, Johnny foreigner.
I have been caught! I was trying to blend in with the Londoners but I ran out of shoe polish. This weather has made it hell to keep a consistent shade of black.

Actually I'll address this while I'm here. No, no it wasn't "stupidly needless" of them. It was absolutely essential for them to cover this kind of this up because it goes against the narrative.
The cover-up was what was needless because occasional routs are expected. Everyone except utter morons knows that women's soccer is incomparable to men's, it's a non-story. Women can't play against the lower level men's teams because it's actually very dangerous for women to play a contact sport against full-grown men.

They play against boys less for the skill disparity (which is still real) and moreso for the safety issue. Not only are men stronger, but women are far more susceptible to hits, especially in a game like soccer as due to pelvis shape, women are more likely to sustain hip and knee injury. As far as I know, in women's soccer, just playing against women, there are higher rates of those injuries than men sustain playing against men. Women playing against full-grown men is genuinely inadvisable. The schoolboy teams they train against aren't average teams, they are high level boys teams, stacked with very good players, some who will go on to play men's lower level professional.

Ah, I may have just read your posts wrong. Carry on.

Re: Savile. A mate and me were watching Life on Mars t'other day, and there's a bit where the radio has a Savile impersonator on ("Now then now then" etc.) and Sam shouts "Come on Jim, fix it for me!!". We just looked at each other like, urk! When was that made, like 2004?

This was on the DVD version, I wonder if they got rid of that bit on iplayer?

Don't forget that recently Miliband backtracked on a lot of his 'Green' comments and said that if we have to drill for oil in the North Sea then 'so be it'.

His US-residing brother, David, gambled on Kamala becoming POTUS and that Green would be mandatory. However, since Donald became POTUS instead, Green industries in the USA aren't making the money they were forecast to and therefore the goal-posts are shifting.

Bear in mind, all these idiots really care about is their personal profit and how much they can control you by. The servant should never control the master - big mistake.

If Miliband is being reigned in, then he'll resign - got no time for the guy but he's a former party leader and Labour restricting the voice of one of their high profile MP's will end in disaster.

If he joins the Green Party, the cavalcade will follow him out of Labour.

Probably the same reason Labour lost so much support: they have no confidence on them to do what they want done.
There's two lots of 'Green' voters:

The Traditionalists/Trads who are pro-protecting the environment, for conserving (rather than destroying) SSSI's, managing farming (even if it's sustainable), low pollution and healthier communities.

Then there's the angry and spiteful perma-brats who care more about pronouns and touching kids in toilets who identify as 'Green'.

Green =/= Woke

Example: To prevent a major environmental crisis in the UK, the population must be capped at 45m.

Woke's respond with 'WAAAH! RACISM! FASCISM!'

Yet the idiots believe that the two are inseparable bed-mates.

I have a question - how in the hell was Jimmy Saville so well respected when he was alive, almost being glorified as a saint when everything about him, his getup, the way he interacted with people, etc. just screamed "I'm a powerful pedo and you can't touch me"?

Unless it was well known among certain groups of people prior to everything coming out a year after his death (I'm only aware of Johnny Rotten knowing the truth before that)
Because child fucking is a favourite hobby of the powerful.

Some Green voters are basically honest people that are fed up with politics and float between parties as a protest type vote.

The others are economically and politically retarded communists.

|It was known, it was protected.

Without powerleveling I was at a school where Saville visited with Thatcher. We were told, avoid Saville, walk in groups of 2 or more. I am a bloke and was 16/17 at the time. That was in '88.
