I would gladly donate to this if it did something more appropriate for Wu. Maybe a big system where they accept nominations (from anonymous, nameless twitterites) for troubled trans kids, where they sneak up on them, blindfold them, and help them to undergo their lifesaving trans surgery! It would be so health affirming to see random kids pulled off the street to make their dreams come true!
I do know a few people who seem like they're trans but don't even know it! Denial, amiright?
 
John’s new ad clocks in at like 2:05.

If his goal is to run it on TV, I’m surprised that he didn’t make it a more standard TV spot length (15 or 30s). I feel like if he actually planned ahead and did the minimal amount of work to figure out that no one runs 2:05 ads, you could probably make better use of your production/editing budget.

It gets better/dumber, the gloves in Queensbury rules was meant to protect the hands so more and harder punches could be delivered to the head. Punching someone in the skull barehanded is like punching a coconut, no fun and should not be done at full power. Fighters broke their hands and that ended matches and careers(they get brittle eventually), boxing is prize fighting and no one earns any money if a fighter can't crack an egg without breaking his hands, that's like having a one legged race horse. Another benefit of gloves was that it prevented cuts, cuts could cause blood to get in the fighters eyes and the bout might be stopped.

Wu is suggesting going back to bare knuckle rules which looks more raw and gritty but is actually less dangerous.

If he actually planned ahead, he would've had some actual policy details to drop into his Squarespace web template.

I think this was designed to be like one of those YouTube pre-video ads, where you get multiple lengths depending on how long the ad is set to run. I've seen multiple versions of the same political ad from 1:45, cut down to 0:20, then again to 0:07 (unskippable). The longest version tends to run at the start or end of the entire video, while the others are "racing" the countdown timer to the Skip Ad button or the video auto-play, getting increasingly frantic with the cuts and voiceover before the end hits.

John probably figures you make the long ad first, then cut it up as each format becomes available. That's not an unreasonable approach... but the structure of the ad itself is terrible for that. You'd have to jettison the entire janky timeline, because you can't compress that very well. But the timeline is the reinforcement for the "you've become numb" message.

You could pull out all the voiceover segments and stitch them together, but that doesn't add up to a useful time for any format. For an unskippable 0:07 YT ad, you could easily use the "vote mad" call to action at the end, but then it's just a generic GOTV stinger; why even bother?

My bet is that you'll see this ad on YT or in a promoted Tweet sometime soon, because John is obsessed with tech/social media and those are the only places he thought about. The full length works for an embedded Tweet video, which normally runs around 2:20 on the high end.

TV is an aspirational bullet point written in meeting notes somewhere, a pipe dream on the off chance he can grift enough money to take his scam mainstream. It's not a part of a real political strategy.

Honestly, that's the point, because those are the people who will give ScamPAC money. They'll say it's to influence the electorate as a whole, but most crazy people who foam at the mouth over team politics are morons who can't see through that. (Then again, maybe Wu doesn't realize this, at least not entirely, and is just foaming at the mouth himself.)

As others have said, for this to be actually effective, it would need to be about 30 seconds long, not look and sound like shit, and actually hit a coherent point.
