This one hit me straight in the autism since I recently started learning how to interact with SQL databases using python. John could have just said "Use python applications to analyze databases" and would have looked far more technologically literate than when he shits out a stream of tech buzzwords like this. Aside from the nonsensical use of adjectives, no one I've encountered who's familiar with python lists off the version number like that. If you need to specify python 3 (since there are a few substantial differences from past releases), you just say "python 3". And to top it all off, Technologically Literate Wu is using an outdated version of python 3 at that. Sorry John, but you just lost my vote. :dislike:

Wu tech-babble is best babble. I’m surprised he didn’t boast of Tweeting by claiming to have “utilised a syntactical paradigm to enable multicast communication”.

And what kind of “large” data sets is he supposedly working with? I get the feeling he’s doing it the hard way by not simply dropping his 600 rows of data in to Excel and being done with it. It could indeed be a large dataset if he’s performing regression analysis on his mountainous Tweet history, perhaps trying to understand where John’s brain broke.

At the same time, its amusing how much Wu genuinely seems to think they're a tech expert going all the way back to the college years, but not once did they ever take a tech class even by the standards of the 1990s. I strongly suspect they did Journalism explicitly just because of wanting to force SOCCON/Election Eve into mainstream print and ultimately never had life goals to begin with.

I don't know that I could come up with a more facile analysis of Ulysses if I tried. I'd even accept it if he just said "it's overrated," though I would no more believe he read it in that case. "Not that great," like he's talking about fucking Sweet Valley High or the latest trash tie-in Star Wars novel. I'll never understand how such a successful grifter can be this stupid.

Why would you "conterienize" Python application? That's just some bullshit.

"that interface with SQL", what kind of SQL, deary? MySQL/MariaDB, Postgres, SQLite, MS SQL, Oracle? Can it relay on additional data sources like pre-calced values stored in redis? There's no magic silver bullet here, and most office workers probably stuff their data into Excel. If you're smart, which you're not, you could maybe deduce something about data from SQL's structure. Dates can use BETWEEN, integers can be sorted, queried over "greater then, less then" and filtered, strings can be tokenized, enums can be used as filters, indices can be used to unearth dependencies/limits, etc. But if you want to get to the bottom of the facts hidden in the data you need to asses what you're working with.

Wu's proposal, in the nutshell, can be decoded as:

"I'll deploy application in a needlessly cumbersome way, it won't work with your data and the results won't beat making a pie graph in Excel. And I'm not even half aware of the issues nor have I ever made any data analysis that does not come in a form of Google Analytic char ."

Love you, Wu. Your condescended incompetence can be used to write "how not to do X", to expand it, just add water straight from the toilet.
