I like how John is so completely lacking in self-awareness that he can't understand that it's troons' own behavior that is making people not care about anything bad that happens to them, especially when the shit they complain about is entirely their own fault. John is actually kind of an outlier from what I can tell - most troons are just men who invented a middleground third gender to pretend they are inherently better than natural women, with varying levels of actually dedicating to the bit through effort or surgery.
With John he never played the troon card after he transitioned, oddly enough, but perhaps because it wasn't in style at the time (since all this troon shit transitioned out of the Gamergate shitshow where it was all about trying to 'protect women' when it was simply high school clique politics having gone way out of control and got caught in the act). He doggedly stood by the 'totally a woman' act with his screaming chink husband even after troons started becoming passe in the twittermite circles, despite his blatantly masculine figure that a little black dress and falsetto voice couldn't hide. I forget when the narrative finally switched to being a troon, but I have to figure it was when John concluded pretending he hadn't lied for years in public about his gender would be more beneficial and allow him to jump on the tranny train.
Ironically, to that end I would agree John is no different than the usual troons now, but he was late to the party after deciding being a woman was too difficult for the image he wanted to cultivate.

John is definitely an older school type of troon, but make no mistake: even if he admits to being biologically male, he does believe himself to truly be a woman and not a genderspecial. Not only that, given how frequently he denigrates the appearance of women who refuse to accept his claims of womanhood, he definitely believes himself to be better than women in general. Note also how he bemoans how women are just born being feminine while he had to work for it, implying that his effort makes his "femininity" more valuable.
I have wondered why he chose to finally play the troon card when he did since he was honestly several years late to the party. The third-wave feminism of GG and #MeToo was getting played out in the later half of the '10s, so there was less of an audience to listen to some retard prattle on about Women in Tech™. And with gay rights activists basically having accomplished everything they set out to, the grifters had been pivoting to trans rights instead, with trannies crawling out of the woodwork left and right and making everyone else's lives miserable. If John wanted to be at the forefront of the next wave of grifting, he should have come clean then.
But he didn't, and I think it's because he still thought he had people fooled. As long as he never admitted to being a man, nobody would ever figure it out on their own (please ignore the many, many instances of people figuring it out on their own). And because he thought he passed so well (again, please ignore how he had tranny jannies sweeping up any mentions of the truth), he considered himself better than the other troons who didn't. I mean, as long as you squinted at him from a distance and didn't see him move or talk, he could maybe have passed for an unfortunate looking middle-aged schoolmarm, but definitely not the hot hacker grrl he thought he was.
So he completely missed the boat on the tranny grift while he played politician and then political activist. Then the tide started to turn against trannies as their overreach kept pissing everyone off, and John felt like his ability to keep pretending to be a woman was about to be jeopardized because of those damn pooners making a fuss about their bodies being wrecked by testosterone (once more, please ignore that troons were far and away the most egregious offenders, John included). If he didn't do something, he'd stop being allowed into women's restrooms!
I think part of the calculus of finally coming out was that, again, he still truly and honestly believed that nobody knew he was a man. I think in his deluded mind, he figured that if he admitted that he had been a man all along, people would see how much of a success story he was. "I've been living as a woman for two decades, and nobody knew! We're not dangerous, we just want to live our lives! Now give us everything we want or else!" Except everyone knew, John, they were just frightened into silence by trannies who would dox and harass anyone who dared to point out the truth.
Couple that with all that plastic surgery to attempt to hack his skull into a more feminine shape (but only ended up making him look even more uncanny), and you get the loud and proud tranny activist John, who then proceeded to shame and denigrate both women who refuse to accept him and trannies that don't have paypigs to fund all their surgical procedures and make him look bad by association.

100%. Maybe not immediately, but it really did not take long for people to start putting two and two together. John really could have gotten away with it for a lot longer if he didn't fling himself headlong into GG; he had very little internet presence, few pictures, and trannies were not nearly as widespread as the social contagion hadn't really kicked in yet. But once he started doing interviews on video, it was pretty obvious, and the more people dug, the more conclusive the evidence became.
The only reason it wouldn't have seemed that way is because of John abusing contacts at Twitter to get people banned for pointing out the truth. Bet it chaps his ass that he doesn't have that power anymore, unable to stop people from calling him a man under everything he posts without limiting his engagement (and he can't do that, he needs his dopamine).

If he looks so much like a woman and is sure antitrans people are a small group he shouldn't have an issue with bathrooms. Just go in and blend in perfectly. If anyone notices, the odds are highly in his favor that they're protrans anyway and won't say anything. If anyone does everyone else will just laugh at her for thinking such a beautiful woman is actually a man.

To be fair, he does understand that. That’s exactly why he started distancing himself from them. What he doesn’t understand is that his own actions have played a part in that as well, hence why he believes he shouldn’t suffer the consequences of the general troon movement. He really thinks he’s the “reasonable tranny” despite shrieking that everybody who disagrees with him wants him to get raped to death.
