I know we make fun of this all the time, but I'm legit curious, and not for the typical 'tism answer either, does anyone with any medical or family experience know what could cause this sort of extended, bizarre facial ticcing? Is john self-stimming, attempting to calm some sort of intense, internal anxiety? Is it a medication reaction? I'd love to know how long this has been going on, because it genuinely seems to be getting worse: early on in Wu's GG blanket of mainstream media interviews, he wasn't this bad.
Could this be what the College Weirdos board meant when they said he seemed to have some sort of neurological condition? Or was that Milo's article? I forget....

For context, she is being asked a question during this segment. This 30 seconds of nightmare fuel occurs as the extremely nervous-sounding announcer lays out the question with a tone of voice that implies he's just as incredulous about the goblin at the podium as we are.
In addition, you can pause at just about any point in that video and strike gold:
"GAMERGAAATE!"
Wu field strips her Glock.
I assume this is her typical face when discussing politics too.

I think your strung-out comment is correct. To me, it seems like he's tweaking hard. He used to have an ambien problem, maybe now he's paid someone to get a prescription for vyvanse or strattera or something similar. Especially when you consider he's 40mins into the talk so it'd be an hour after he took one. Just my 2¢.

ive seen similar movements with substance abuse victims, usually when they are between hits and are trying to focus their thoughts, except they seem to not be able to get them into a cognitive order, hence the face becomes agitated at the notable effort of trying to self control..
edit: also habitual liars also show facial ticks as the brain trys to juggle the various multiple lies, potential questions and the fear of discovery...

I'm thinking on roughly similar lines. Wu is acting - acting as a woman (or as best as he can imagine how a woman should act).
However, when he's not talking or moving about and has to sit and listen to other people there's a hell of a lot of 'dead air' that needs to be filled with 'womanly ambience'. And so we're treated to this spastic freakshow of a 40yr old man trying to do his own riffs on 'a woman interested', 'a woman engaged', 'a supportive woman', 'a woman who understands'.

Every time she reads a book, suddenly whatever she's just read becomes the most important thing in the world. She's constantly announcing big plans that are going to have earth shattering consequences, but that ultimately amount to nothing. She unconvincingly fakes emotions to play to her audience. You constantly get the feeling that her real opinions are buried under the fake twitter rhetoric. She's like polar opposite Beck.
It's a grim warning to make sure she's never able to grab on to some position of authority. We're one Terry Schiavo away from being lumbered with Wu in the public eye forever.

It's funny how all the closest analogues of Wu in public life are extreme right-wingers. I'd also add to this how she's trying to hitch her wagon to everything and anything that looks like a Democratic Tea Party equivalent.
