So I can't bring up the fact that the new Ghostbusters are female, but everything you don't like is a bro? Wow that almost seems kind of sexist .

the font in the pic is bold and as far as i know you need to add as a friend a person to chat with them, the only way to talk to people that you dont have is via group chat but the window is different

Heard something interesting...in the same way that 70s blaxploitation flicks like Jackie Brown and Blacula are viewed as such through the prism of time, in (perhaps) 15 years or so this gender-swapped trend of the 20-teens will be viewed as femmesploitation. Check it: I hate this ghostbusters reboot, it can bite my dick, but think about it...should it really be a draw for a female just because of the vagina factor?

"Hey, I have a vagoo...and so do those 4 heffers! All it takes to get my vagina in the theatre is an on-the-nose Cinevagina masterpiece!"

Did anyone else notice that gender swapping was as far as they went? There's a chick (dunno or care to know the names) who has a blonde, curled bouffant quiff and goggles a la egon in the cartoon, then there's the fat funny one (ray), the black one, and the other becomes venkman by default.

Fuck this movie, they shouldnt be allowed to use the logo.

As far as I'm concerned, the closest we'll ever get to a true sequel will be the excellent ghostbusters game on the ps3 / 360. voiced by original cast, amazing all around. any fans who haven't played it, do yourself a favor!

I don't think people should write the movie off totally just because of an all-female cast but they should be weary because right now the most recognizable difference is genderswapping. Their receptionist is going to be played by Thor so it doesn't end with just the main protagonists. The Ghostbusters franchise isn't holy ground. Ghostbusters 2 proved that. I think the people who wrote the script wrote The Heat and Bridesmaids so I'm expecting it to have some appeal to the average movie goer but the fact they're going into a beloved franchise is pretty risky. They're not just having to compete with the first Ghostbusters but the nostalgia people have for it. That's more of a problem associated with any reboot than what people seem to be focusing on though.

Since the writers, director, and actors have a history with McCarthy I'd like to believe the casting was more of an issue regarding cast/crew chemistry than anything else (Except with Thor) but we'll have to wait until it's released to find out.

Also Brianna Wu is crazy... just to stay on topic.

See, the gender-swap IS a reason for dismissal and here's why:

It's easy to say its misogynist, but its more about source loyalty. Do we have an asian Shaft? a male ripley? a male tomb raider? these feminists say they dont want white male to be the default, but by treating the franchise as if those elements are negligable, they admit THEY see white as the non-descript default... by saying the characters race was not part of the character.

Do you see? I'm sure any remake of ghostbusters would have been shit, and would end up binned along with Evil Dead, Nightmare on Elm St., and all the abyssmal reimaginings that no fans consider part of the core series. Look at this new "Vacation". Shite. what a shock.

But by making it ALL female, you're making this gender issue the pre-eminent focus. You're saying that the identities of the 4 ghostbusters have nothing to do with their race. But Shaft being black, tha's sacrosanct. Also Samus female, etc. etc..

Do you get it? you can't tell us not to treat male as default when your casual dismissal proves you place no significance on it. Why should whi, cis males be the only ones without intrinsic culture, why should ours be the only one which can be voided in this politically correct culture?

Does one have to pull a Wu and self-castrate to have a cultural identity?

Wait, what? I didn't say most of those things. I just said I'd give it a chance. If it bombs and it's obvious the genderswap was the only thing noteworthy about it then it'll hopefully discourage Hollywood from attempting the same thing for at least 6 months. I just don't want to write off a movie before I've actually seen a bit more about it. It's not going to overwrite how much I enjoyed Ghostbusters. You're chimping out a bit.
