Wait, what? I didn't say most of those things. I just said I'd give it a chance. If it bombs and it's obvious the genderswap was the only thing noteworthy about it then it'll hopefully discourage Hollywood from attempting the same thing for at least 6 months. I just don't want to write off a movie before I've actually seen a bit more about it. It's not going to overwrite how much I enjoyed Ghostbusters. You're chimping out a bit.

Excuse my chimping, then. Ghostbusters 2 IS holy ground from where i prostrate myself. It all depends on your level of passion for the franchise.

But the point remains: absent anything else, 3 factors are enough for dismissal:

-It's a remake.

-All woman shows there lack of dedication to source.

-Wu likes it.

i could go on, like how ernie hudson reversed his initial negative view, and how dan akroyd is executive producing essentially making his public view moot, as he's too invested financially. Interpret as you will.

I don't think that's what's going on exactly. I think they designed the characters to look like tumblr and generate controversy. From the producer's point of view they can't lose.

1. You have a bunch of stars with consistent hits and awards, this is the single most accurate predictor of a fim's success.
2. You have a beloved franchise that many people will see no matter fucking what even if they hate it
3. You have 4 characters that are modeled after a loud social networking demographic, notice we know nothing about the film other than what the ghostbusters look like? They want people getting pissed and then they want girls who look like the ghostbusters to go out and have internet arguments.

Gamergate has created revenue streams and minor celebrity for various people on both sides, some of them hardly even care about their cause. Practically everyone on facebook has been exposed to gamergate inspired content so they know about gamergate even if not by name. I have heard plenty of hollywood types tell me they're trying to get shit to go viral, it's the holy grail of media advertising right now, getting shit viral. That's good enough for the film studio 90% of people will just see ghostbusters if they know when to show up and see i and they probably don't care much who is in it if it's not the original cast.

I don't think it's actually pandering to women I think it's exploiting SJWs for free advertising. SJWs will literally spend all day responding to every criticism they can find, get up and do it again. I don't think that the characters were modeled with the genuine intent to pull sjws or women into the seats because most women can't relate to dumpy tumblrites, and actual SJWs and people who look like the female ghostbusters are actually a very small number of people. Nobody gives a fuck about their ticket money.

So I think they're going to make their money no matter what and they know it, will this free them to make an actually funny movie? Time will tell they have good actresses I must admit, but they're really switching shit up quite a bit I don't know how they intend to capture the ghostbusters magic that many people doubted could be recaptured for the 2nd movie.

Problem: You demonstrably have shit taste in storytelling. Your favorite Parasite Eve game is The Third Birthday.
You unironically cite Quantic Dream games as having good stories.

Revolution 60 has a woefully bad story that is hilariously predictable.

Not quite - playing with a neutral decision attitude by not leaning to one of the two other bitches in that game (read: not Minnie since she's somehow still the world-domination ditz from Soc. Uncon. or that's what Wu wants people to do despite it not affecting the game in the slightest) actually gets everybody killed.

Read: the actual decisions made by a capable, level-headed leader of a group will get everybody killed for no fucking reason.

Like, I think I might need to dive into the old R. 60 thread when I get the time and pick apart what was learned about how the game treats its own characters - no question Minnie is actually a representation of the CIS patriarchy that "rules the world" or some shit that is so loved by antagonistic groups (read: Chessboard, after all that 96.31% obedience rate is highly vaunted despite the fact those dumb-ass rules specifically indicate Minnie should have been killed by Chessboard for disloyalty at some point prior) but fuck if I can't remember the other girl's name with the beret but there's some connection to SJW ideals there.
